Unsurprisingly, many couples chose the local iconic Progress Grill to celebrate Valentine's Day. It was a busy night. Hubby made our reservations because he knew we would have a fine dining experience for a romantic night. The food: superb appetizer and entree choices, including stuffed mushrooms, Surf and Turf, stuffed flounder, and those beets; oh my, everything was delightful. My only disappointment was that our server didn't share the dinner specials, assumed we wanted regular still water, forgot our salads, and brought the wrong dessert. Please note. We did receive our side salads to take home with our leftovers.)

progress grill has been around for decades. menu has been streamlined, one full page. descriptions are misleading. portions are small. wedge salad compared to Outback needs improvement. clams casino,'clams were small, not fully baked, very moist tasting, french onion soup big glob of cheese, not memorable, seafood combination, the lobster portion was the highlight, the soufflé cups threw me off, all the food was moist not cooked all the way through, almost microwave ish. service was ok, not great. Ambiance needs to be refreshed

Let me start by saying my husband and I have been patrons of Progress Grill for over 20 years and is our "go to" for date night and special occasions. We made a reservation for the day before Valentines Day for a Valentine date nite. This was the first time in over 20 years we were so disappointed with our service that we asked for the order to go due to poor service. Our reservation was for 7p.m. and we were seated about 7:15, we ordered drinks and an appetizer around 7:30 and we told out server we knew what we wanted for our entree but she said she would be back to take our order, she never came back, until around 7:45 with our drinks and appetizer. We ordered the Broiled Seafood Platter #2 and finally got our salad around 8 pm. It took an hour to get a side salad and an order of coleslaw. My husband went to the bar to order another drink because we were no longer waiting on our server to come back. By 8:35 we still didn't have our entree and my husband made the decision to contact our hostess and just cancel our entree however, she said it was just coming out so we requested it to go.. There were people at other tables that we had walked in with that were leaving because they were finished with their meal. The hostess apologized and comped our desserts which was appreciated and our Seafood Combo Platter's were excellent as always but the service was just unacceptable. We walked out of the restaurant around 8: 50 and still didn't eat our dinner. We were so looking forward to dinner at one of our tried and true favorite restaurants sadly we were let down. I am not sure that we will go back.

After a long drive, we stopped for dinner at the Progress Grill toward the end of the day. Tip: PG normally adds a tip to the check for groups to avoid problems Food was outstanding, especially the seafood! The atmosphere was excellent, and the service was attentive and friendly :-) The menu here is extensive, and no matter what you order you really can't go wrong - highly recommended!

Love these older "fine dining" restaurants. I always get the pork chops. They give you 2 huge thick pork chops that are super juicy.

A great restaurant with great ambience. Love these older restaurants in our area. They give you so much food. You're also paying for a second meal.

Unfortunately, the quality of the cheesesteaks declined over time, but I was excited when they opened a new fish location here in Harrisburg. Until recently, I really enjoyed this spot because the quality and ingredients were consistently excellent. My latest experience, however, was highly disappointing. I placed an online order and received a text notification stating it was ready for pickup. When I arrived, the food was not ready. I stood waiting for nearly 15 minutes, ringing the counter bell, but the staff ignored it. When someone finally appeared, I told them I was picking up an order. I was told it would be just a few more minutes because they were "waiting on the fries."After waiting another 7 minutes, I asked for an update. The employee immediately walked to the back counter and handed me a box that was already wrapped and sitting there. I hadn't heard anyone packaging food the entire time I stood there. When I got to my car and opened the container, the fries and the rest of the meal were completely wet and soggy from trapped condensation. It was obvious the food had been sitting out for at least 15 minutes while I was told it was still being cooked. I will not be returning to this restaurant. When the waitress finally arrived, she mentioned she was the only one working and implied that the slow service would continue throughout the evening. Thankfully, my husband quickly looked up another local spot, and that's when we found Captain Krab Cajun Seafood & Boil--what a blessing! Not only did we enjoy incredible food and exceptional service, but both the server and the owner went above and beyond to make our daughter's birthday truly special. We were treated to fresh, delicious seafood, a sparkler candle dessert, a plush gift for the birthday girl, and even a light-up birthday sign! We felt like part of their family. We ordered oysters, clam chowder, boiled eggs, baby clams, and snow crab legs--everything was perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. You can even customize your meal by choosing from four different seasonings and five levels of spiciness, which makes it ideal for families or groups with mixed tastes. One of the most fun parts? You can write on the walls, tables, and even the ceiling! They also have a claw machine for the kids (and kids at heart). We'll absolutely be back next time we're in town! P.S. It's BYOB!

It used to be called Sad Seafood. This place has been around for years and has always been known for its amazing crab cake sandwich, but today I didn't want to catch any crabs, so I got myself some fish instead. I ordered the lunch special, and I must say, the mac & cheese is very good. The cabbage, of course, were a little bland--I personally would prefer a bit more vinegar. The fish was crispy with a nice seasoning on it, too. I think it could definitely taste better, though; personally, I like a little spice or "bite" with my fish. However, I guarantee it would pair perfectly with the sweet potatoes if it were just a little bit hotter! The pricing is very reasonable, and the amount of food you get for the size is delightful. I will definitely be back--maybe next time for some crab cakes and hush puppies, especially since there are no more Long John Silver's in the Harrisburg area. My waitress (Danyell) immediately took my order of shrimp cocktail and the prime rib special. The food is where the experience soured. The shrimp cocktail (6 pieces) was cooked well and arrived chilled. The issue I had was with the garlic aeoli, cocktail sauce, and old bay seasoning dust that was generously sprinkled on top of the shrimp. Both sauces were under seasoned and the dry old bay seasoning added an odd texture and taste that detracted from th flavor of the shrimp cocktail. The prime rib was extremely tough, had no flavor, and was missing the cap. This was a big disappointment as I expected more from award winning chef Dougie Krick. The meal included mashed potatoes, however, as they do not offer a baked potato, I substituted for steak fries which arrived greasy. Total with tip was $85. Given the quality of the meal served, not a value. The server was very attentive and frequently refilled my drink without asking.
