I believe this used to be Revere's Mexican Food, which we unfortunately never got to try. We didn't want to make the same mistake with Professor Soups, so we stopped in for lunch. It happened to be Valentine's Day, so they gave us a pair of mini cupcakes, which was a sweet (pun intended) gesture. I like the atmosphere - a friendly cook in the back, what I gathered to be her husband in the front, and an employee who was waiting on the other guest. They all seemed friendly and I got the impression that they were happy to be able to share their homemade soup with their Lake Orion neighbors. We enjoyed the creamy garlic chicken - it could easily have been an orgy of salt and heavy cream, but they used a lot of restraint. It was tasty without making you think you had a bowl of alfredo sauce. My wife says she would have preferred chicken chunks to the shredded chicken, and who am I to argue. The chili was a straightforward tomato beef chili. I would have preferred a bit spicier, but most people probably wouldn't. The heat was decent, enough to make my nose run. The soup comes with bread rolls, which was a perfect compliment and prevents you from having a purely liquid lunch. Don't expect a sit-down experience. There are two very small high-top tables and no seats: they are still in pandemic take-out-only mode. We took our soup and ate in the car. Quick note: the parking lot, despite being directly behind the Taco Bell, can't be accessed from the Taco Bell parking lot. We had to go back onto Lapeer to get in. They have approximately 20 soups available at any time, though only half are heated and ready to eat. The remaining are in a refrigerated case for taking home. We're quite excited to try the African peanut, which we took from the case. They also had chicken pot pies at the moment, which looked excellent. But aside from that, don't go in expecting there to be salads, sandwiches, etc. This is a soup place. And surprisingly enough, a soup place that doesn't rely on swamping your taste buds with salt. Had PS for my second time, this wasn't my cup of tea, er, soup.... First visit, in the 5 minutes home our soups were cold and tbh the quantity for the price wasn't there. I didn't want to wet Second visit, I ordered remotely. One of my soups was wrong and the other was about 60% broth and 40% actual contents. It's a decent soup, the one I could eat, not something to write home about, but it satisfied my need for the most part. So unless I'm super, fine soup-er, sick or in the mood for soup I'll pass on PS. The hype is there around town though for sure, so judge for yourself. read more

Dang, I wish we had tried this cute little place sooner! I've driven by hundreds of times and am mad at myself for not stopping in sooner. If you love soup, go here today because this place is the best. If you don't eat soup, well, you'll never know what you're missing because this place is divine. The selection is great - three different levels of soups - Regular, Premium, Souper Premium, all available in pints or quarts. Prices increase with each level. The prices are on the high side, but the soups are as good as homemade. We got six different soups - split pea & ham, beef barley, chicken tortilla, clam chowder, African peanut, Italian wedding. Honestly, it's hard to pick a favorite of the bunch. The salt level was perfect! This says a lot because we all know that so many places load up soup with salt. The ingredients were plentiful, so that there was plenty of good stuff in every bite, not just broth. The place is tucked waaaaaaay in the back corner of a strip mall. It's bright and clean, quick and easy to get what you want. Some soups are grab and go, to heat at home. Others are portioned out for you to eat right away. We brought the soups home and the hot ones were still a great temp for eating. We'll be back. Note the store hours - Monday through Friday only, and they close at 6:00! read more

Ok so we've just eaten the best soups I picked up from Professor Soups in Lake Orion yesterday. The Chicken Noodle is so yummy with the perfect mix of ingredients. The chicken is shredded and cooked to perfection with the most delicious noodles that have absorbed the savory broth and perfectly cooked veggies. A true heart warming bowl of delishiness. Kevin had the Beef Barley and it was also seasoned to perfection with perfectly cooked barley, shredded tender beef in a sweet savory broth. And we both had Karen's amazing rolls to dip in our soups. I have wanted to try Professor Soup for a long time however their hours and location has made it nearly impossible. DoorDash doesn't deliver from PS in Lake Orion to Auburn Hills (10miles) and its only open M-F 1030am - 6pm. Even if I jumped in my car right after work and sped over there I couldn't get there by 6pm with traffic. I had all but given up resigning myself to the fact that the owners must not be in this business to make money...with those hours you are not trying to expand your customer base. FINALLY one day last week my mom invited me to have dinner at her house so she stopped by and ordered soup to take home. I was SO excited to try it. I had the Tuscan White Bean and my mom tried the Beef Barley... It was NOT worth the hype or the wait... The Tuscan WB was flavorless...I mean completely without flavor! The BB was "just ok"...I expected so much more! ESPECIALLY when you're paying $22 for two soups. If you've been wanting to check this place out I'd recommend saving your money for waaay better soup at Darrel's Steakhouse or even Panera. read more

The soups are pricey, especially the soup-er premium kind we got, but I couldn't quite make it myself and believe it's worth it. This place is fantastic! Their soups are so delicious and you can tell they're made from scratch and with quality ingredients. We've tried many of them and haven't found one we didn't like! The Chicken Noodle Soup is probably the best I've ever had, even better than some homemade versions that are incredible. They are only open 11 - 5 and I'm not sure if they're open on the weekends at all so you'll need to plan to stop in but it is definitely worth it. read more
