Pretty good. I love chicken tortilla soup. I prefer having shredded chicken in my tortilla soup but they are description is accurate. Theirs has big chunks of chicken breast and potato. I'm not sure what to think about this restaurant. The employees were incredibly friendly and helpful and it definitely seemed authentic. Starting with the chips and salsa, the chips had kind of an odd taste to it but I did like the texture and the salsa was very good. I asked for a hotter salsa and when they asked me medium hot or hot hot, I got the hot hot and believe me it was green, thick and burning hot. I ordered the big California burrito with shrimp, and if you look at my picture, this burrito was enormous and was smothered in cheese. My friend got the Mexicano large burrito and his was the same size as mine but a third of it was covered in red sauce. A third was covered in the white cheese and a third was covered in a green sauce. He said it was very delicious. Although my food was very delicious, it was different than I was expecting so that's why I only gave it three stars not because of the taste but because of my expectations and because I wasn't impressed with the chips. The birria quesadilla was AMAZING. It was huge, perfectly cooked, fresh and hot, they give an entire soup bowl of consume with beef chunks in it. Definitely enough for 2 and fairly priced. The food scene in Oxford just grew by one with Apache Mexican Grill opening on Lapeer Road about a mile south of downtown. A bright if austere dining room welcomes you with sombreros and Mexican swag on the walls as does the friendly staff. The menu is extensive for a relatively small place with Mexican classics. Being alone I couldn't run the table with multiple dishes so I had to go for an old fave, three tacos, two Al Pastor (marinated pork try it) a grilled chicken broth terrific. Mexican rice was delicious with just enough spice. Sour cream on the side was great. An orange Jarritos soda was great. Overhearing that they had Horchata I realized I had missed out on a favorite drink, but next time. If you've never had it it's like liquid rice pudding. Give it a try. I am not sure how this place gets such great reviews. The ACP style dish with shrimp and Chicken is an absolute joke. Chicken and steak is so thin and whole. Chicken dried out. Steak over cooked and like rubber. Used 1/2 my cheese dip I ordered on the side to even add cheese to it and add moisture to where it is 1/2 way edible. Anytime I eat foot in a restaurant, I feel that I NEED to be eating something way better than I can make myself or what is the point of eating out? I will say, perhaps the best Mexican food in town!! Prices are on par with pretty much all the other Mexican restaurants in the area. But the portions are super generous! The burrito Mexicano will become my go to meal. Comes with chicken, steak and chorizo with red salsa, verde salsa and cheese sauce!! This was an absolutely amazing burrito!! Best I have had. My daughter liked her chicken taco! It looked solid and was perfect for a kid. Chicken enchiladas with verde salsa was another winner. Generous petition and solid taste. Was disappointed. I'm all for Mexican food but this place was just average. Atmosphere is lacking. No beer on the menu. Service is slow. The Enchilada Verde was bland. The Hawaiian Fajitas were fantastic according to my dinner date. However the condiment plate came out piping hot with the sour cream, cheese, lettuce and pico. Very Tasty Food and large portions. This place took over our favorite local Thai restaurant (Thai Pho) which we were sad to see go, But we certainly aren't disappointed with Apache Mexican Grill moving in. We had the Parillada Fajitas for two and it was delicious. We liked how they served it basically as two separate dinners rather than piling everything onto one platter. Best authentic Mexican food around!!! My Fave is their chorizo queso! It's not to spicy at all but full of flavor. I will buy it and pour it on steak or order a side of shrimp and dunk the shrimp in it. So good! This seems to be a family ran, small business and they are so fabulous. I'm a huge fan of authentic Mexican food and this place wasn't it.'The fajitas were served on a stainless platter not a sizzling skillet and didn't have any side of cheese. They were just blah. The family got other things and I tried a little of this and that and felt the same about everything. Chips and salsa were a bit better but average at best. The restaurant kind of reminded me of cafeteria food or that of a food carousel at the shopping mall. There are other Mexican restaurants in the area that are far better. I have to agree with one of the other reviews about us locals here starving for a good Mexican restaurant but I assure you this is far from it and the last I'd go to in town. Nice little restaurant. I like that it is small and intimate because they take great care of you when you dine. I had a beef Chalupa and it was FULL of beef. The shell was light, crispy and very tasty. The tomatoes, lettuce and rice were all very fresh as were the chips chips and salsa. We ordered carry out. I had fajitas and they were like boiled pieces of chicken. No spice and no flavor. beans were the same red color as the rice! Beans are brown. They did not include cheese ( which was 2.50 for a tiny container). My husband ordered a taco and burrito. Horrible. Tough chicken. Taco was just hamburger and lettuce. No tomato and no spice . Ugg. noticed a new mexican restaurant in oxford and had to give it a try. it was absolutely amazing. the staff was very friendly and the inside is very cute. it's authentic and delicious food. we got the fresh guacamole and chips as an appetizer, and the guac was so good and you can taste the lime. then we got a chalupa, which exceeded expectations, and a couple soft tacos, which were amazing. we also got the hawaiin fajitas, which were so flavorful and delicious. all of the entrees came with a small salad with guac, and rice and beans. you get so much in one meal, it's a great deal. definitely going back! read more
