I came here to watch my husband's band perform. They had a 3 hour set, so I sat down to eat. I don't drink, so I can't review the bar, but a guy I was with had a "specialty" drink that he loved. It had honey and grapefruit in it, from what I remember. It was happy hour when I ordered, so I got the tandoori chicken, and the bleu cheese fries. Let me just say, the food was delicious. Fantastic. I didn't know what to expect from the chicken, since there wasn't much of a description other than "chicken tandoori". It was a pita with chicken and veggies, fantastic. And the bleu cheese fries were so unique and flavorful. If you like bleu cheese, you'll love them. As far as atmosphere, it's beautiful. The place has such a wonderful vibe, and it was quite busy for a Thursday. However, my one complaint was that they wouldn't open the back dining room even though there were no tables left in the front bar area. I don't know if they have some kind of rules or something, but it was silly to have people crowded and waiting when there were tons of open tables in the back. read more

Today was the first time we came here and I want to punch myself in the face for just barely coming here after living in Riverside for the past four months. This place is amazing! The food was crazy good, the drinks were tasty and potent, service was awesome (thank you Bret), and I believe it was the manager came and checked on us a couple times. Which made me feel like they really care about there customers which I love. No doubt this is our favorite Riverside pub hands down. Showed up with wife and daughter at 5:50pm and was immediately greeted then seated. We were warned that happy hour ended in 10 minutes so the waitress quickly gathered our drink and appetizer orders so that we could get the discounted price. Ordered the blue cheese tots (with a lot of blue cheese) and hot wings. Very delicious and generous portions. Drink orders included: Strawberry flapper (martini), Extra Red Ale from Ritual and Black Beauty creme stout from Packing House (beers). But there is a lot more choices to choose from. Martini was regularly $11 but happy price made it $9. Beers were $7 regular price, $5 on happy hour. Dinner had the fish and chips which were HUGE, and a bootlegger burger which was superb! It's on a pretzel bun with onion rings and bacon and the meat patty was extra thick! Overall waitress was attentive and we never had to find her for a drink refill. Other guys were walking around making sure empty plates were taken out of our way but not being pushy. Also, the time between finishing our appetizers and getting our dinner was perfect. I hate when there is an overlap and also hate when as soon as you finish they bring the dinner. Here, there was a few minutes between which was excellent. Although there was outside seating with heat lamps, we chose to eat inside. Room temperature was perfect, not being too cold or hot. There was music on but not overbearing. Mostly oldies songs, like Elton John. This place is right across the street from the Mission Inn Hotel, on the back side. read more

THE ESTABLISHMENT: First impression getting to the doors, this place has class. A gentleman greets us at the doors with a smile and welcomes us in. We quickly seat ourselves outside in the gorgeous patio area. Christmas lights on the trees, wrap around seating, some tables, some chairs, propane heaters, etc. The bathrooms and the whole theme is from the prohibition Era. The bathroom has mugshots of Capone and a bunch of other gangsters from that time. Pretty cool stuff. read more

This place is amazing for brunch. I initially made plans to go to Mission Inn for my birthday brunch, but ended up coming here based on yelp reviews. The bottomless mimosas are splendid and the classic eggs benedict just melt in your mouth. The service was great, especially when it came to refilling our waters and mimosas. However, the kitchen ran out of eggs so we had to wait a while to receive our food, but the servers handled the situation well and the food ended up tasting amazing. read more

I even walked to the bar, but they would not refill it there. It was only a coke. We had to beg for someone to bring our check. It was very disappointing because as I said the food was awesome. I was at this place today and what a terrible experience. They had 2 different menus going on at the same time with no explanation. It took the waitress 1/2 hour to take our order and it was not busy. Server took it upon herself to charge me a 20% tip without my authorization. Oh and they've raised their prices on top of all that. Please check your receipt before you commit to pay. I love the vibe and decor of this place. It is very 1920's style upscale cool (hmm..not sure if that made sense). I think that's the main reason I'm so willing to pay 14.00 for a drink the size of a shot. The drink menu is truly the reason my husband and I go here. They have an extensive list of whiskeys and old fashioned style cocktails. It's a great place to stop in and have a drink while you're in the downtown promenade area. The food is pretty good as well, but I have actually only eaten here once. If you have kids, you will probably want to find a different place in the area. If you are looking for a great date night locale, this is a great choice. read more

In town for a conference, I went to this joint (trying to stay colloquial with the restaurant theme) for a burger the first evening I was here. And then proceeded to come back the next two evenings to try all three burgers on the menu ... they were THAT good. First the ambience is very cool, like throwing Al Calpone and a chic modern lounge into a blender then adding lots of culinary delights. Audiovisual (music and mood lighting) was spot on. Entire staff was very friendly and attentive. Now the burgers: wow. Of the three I had -- Proabition Cheeseburger, Bootlegger, and Cow Ate The Pig -- the last was my favorite. But all three had great beef patties (though note you should probably order one level higher of doneness than usual, as my medium-well seemed more like medium), excellent garnishments, and a fantastic pretzel bun. Also the shoestring fries are superb. It's been a while since I had a "real" restaurant burger because I normally don't order them, but these sounded outstanding -- and every one of them delivered. Just pick whichever matches your taste best, and you won't be disappointed. read more

While I can look past a mistake or two. The manager's inability to realize that he works in the hospitality business left our group (of 4) in disbelief. The first server messed up our order several times and the manager came out with an accusatory attitude as if we were the ones doing something wrong. In fact, as we were leaving he (never offered his name) came out and accused us of not paying! Thankfully, our second server, Pepe, quickly came to our defense (thanks Pepe!). Suffice to say, as much as we appreciated Pepe's service and would like to keep him earning great tips, we won't be patronizing this establishment while the current manager is still in charge. We all have bad days, this manager was given multiple opportunities to rectify the situation; unfortunately, it was not in his DNA to do his job (make sure the customer feels welcomed). This reminds me of one of my Harvard Business School case studies about the failure of consumer facing businesses - it really is difficult to get some managers to think like owners. read more

Came here for Brunch with my boyfriend to celebrate a promotion. When I arrived the hostess told me it was a 45 minute wait, which was no problem so I put my name on the list. Well after 45 minutes of waiting in the 95 degree heat, the same hostess told me it would be an additional 30 minute wait after she just took a party who arrived after us. It was garbage service. We visited Prohibition around Christmas when the downtown was having their light festival. I called to ask if they accepted reservations and unfortunately they stop taking them during the holiday season. Ok, no problem. So we arrived around 815-830pm to put in our name, we figured it would be a decent wait but we could go walk around for a bit and come back when out table was ready. Apparently they stop seating at 830pm for dining because it turns into a club at 10pm. However, the hostess said we could sit at the bar and order food. Ok great! So we decided to sit at the bar, welp the bar was full and no one was moving. Apparently the entire bar area is open seating and it took one of the CUSTOMERS to inform us of this. So we sat, and sat....and sat. Asked 3 different servers if we could get a menu. and was completely ignored. Finally we get the menu, look over the menu and was greeted by a server that apologized for the wait. Ok cool, I'll let it slide, we order our drinks (two well known whiskey drinks on the rocks). He comes back about 15 minutes later and says they're out of the two whiskey's. "Isn't this a whiskey bar?" I asked jokingly. So we ordered two new whiskeys. This time a little more rare, I ordered a japanese whiskey and she ordered chivas whiskey. He disappeared for another 15 to 20 minutes comes back and again says they're out of those whiskeys. At this point we're kind of fed up and just asks what he had in stock and ordered that. On to the food... Oh we didn't get any food. Why you might ask? Because their servers are so bad, so terrible they didn't know if they were still serving food or not. One server told us yes, the next told us no. So what happened? Nothing, because we were again ignored, so we left in a hurry, and didn't leave a tip. Because F this place. I'll add that i've been to this restaurant a handful of times and never really had an issue with the food, or service. But they have obviously gone downhill. I would avoid this place at all cost.
