Came for a French manicure/pedicure which they do at the same time (bit odd but time efficient). It was very obvious the employee doing my pedicure was new because multiple things went wrong during it. The male employee doing my manicure was talking poorly on the other customers/employees during the entire session. Lastly their drying fans don't work too well so my manicure was ruined before I even got home. Not the worst but better options in the area. read more

I recently moved from NYC and when I moved to the area, I wanted to find a place that really knew what they were doing (I have high nail standards). I heard great things about Princess Nails and let me tell you... I'm a customer for life. To say I have had my fair share of mani/pedi's in my life would be an understatement (every 2 weeks for the last ~4 years) and I haven't been to a nicer, cleaner or more professional salon. From the moment you walk in, you are treated like royalty. It's peaceful, clean and essentially heaven on earth if you're in the mood to be pampered and forget all of your worries. I got a gel manicure here 4 days ago, and the polish remains intact and there are no chips. I will update if they do chip in the next few days, which is not expected with a gel manicure. I came to this salon on a whim because I was running errands in Ardmore and decided to stop for a manicure. I am disappointed with both the quality of the manicure and the service. When I first entered, I was tended to and seated quicker than expected considering I was a walk in on a Saturday morning. It is a bit weird that they had me pay immediately before the service even started. I understand not waiting until the end, especially when nails might be wet, but I have never been to a salon that makes you pay BEFORE the services. I was rushed to pick my color; I was looking at the gel colors for less than a minute, and my manicurist waved me over and then came over to box me away from the color selections. I found this incredibly rude, and I felt pressured to pick a color that I was not crazy about. This would have been more understandable if I was taking more time to pick out my color, but it was less than a minute! My nails are not the same length; some are painfully short and others are a tad too long. It is not aesthetically pleasing to have nails of drastically varying length, especially when the price is greater than average. I would understand this if I had a broken nail at the start of the service, but all my nails were the same length, albeit a little long, which is why I wanted them cut. The shapes are not the same either; some are squared and others are rounded. She did not use a cuticle gel or cuticle oil when cutting my cuticles, which I have never experience in the many nail salons I've been to. My cuticles were unevenly cut; it is egregious and very noticeable on both of my thumbs; the polish is uneven at the base of my finger nail because the cuticles were cut unevenly. Throughout the whole manicure, I felt very rushed. I felt rushed to pick a color, and I felt she was rushing through my manicure. It lasted around 15-20 minutes shorter than other gel manicures I've received. My biggest complaint comes when she was putting lotion on my hands and forearms at the ends-- she commented on how hairy my arm were and said something about getting an arm wax. My arms are not THAT hairy, (I am Greek though) and even if they were, it was not polite at all to comment on! I will not be returning! read more

What a wonderful place ! High end spa pedi chairs, a setting more akin to an upscale hair salon than a cookie cutter nail salon. Lovely scents, couldn't catch a whiff of any noxious chemicals. Great pedicure with long hot oil massage. And afterwards the best free back/head/neck rub ever. I usally get acrylics and i went in because i usally get my pedicure here and they told me they have UV gel nails which is "same as acrylics" I got them done on thursday, I had to go back on Saturday because my nail broke when i was closing my car door, They didn't charge me but when i left, i broke my nail OPENING A KETCHUP bottle. They made them so thin i have broken 3 total in less than 3 days and now they are closed and it's sunday night, Leaving for vacation tomorrow. I had to super glue my nail. NEVER GET THEIR UV GEL. I hate that I can't find a consistently good place to get my nails done in the 'burbs! I decided to try out Princess, having already tried Charming Nails, which is a few doors down. Charming was pretty good, but still not the stellar experience I was looking for. Well, just from my rating, you probably have some idea of where this is going... Good stuff: -Open Sunday -They took me right away as a walk-in -The lady who did my nails was extremely nice and spoke perfect English (not that I particularly care, but it does make it easier to communicate what I like my nails to look like) -$30 for gel mani Not-so-good stuff: -They don't put that stuff on your nails before doing the cuticle clean-up...and I think there were some other steps of the manicure missing, too. -They have a good selection of colors, but some are CND Shellac (like the one I chose), and I'm pretty sure they're not licensed to do Shellac specifically; hence... -The lady let me know at the end that the mani should last 2 weeks. If it doesn't, I should come back so they can fix it. On the surface, this is very good customer service. However, I've had enough well-done gel manis to know that if they're done correctly, they will not chip or get damaged AT ALL for 2 weeks, so this caveat should not even be necessary. Things that make you go...hmmmmm. -No massage while your nails dry (I know, I know, I'm spoiled by Young's in the city where you get a damn good manicure and an equally great massage!) -Not long after, I realized that she really didn't do a very thorough job on my nails. There were uneven edges and it just didn't look as nice as it has when I've gone to other places. So overall, not a terrible experience, However, when I was there, something occurred that made me seriously debate not coming back. There was a customer who was really dissatisfied with her nails because they were done sloppily, and the technician was apparently rude and just walked away when she expressed her displeasure with her nails. One of the other ladies tried to smooth it over, and they eventually got someone else to redo her nails, but it was just a very awkward situation. My technician explained that the owners are away, so sometimes certain employees think they can just do a crappy job and get away with it. She said it in such a way like "oh well, that's life." Though my technician was nice and did an OK job, I'd be weary of returning in case I got one of the other ones who didn't care at all. All things considered, I probably won't be back. read more

I wanted to treat my 10 year old daughter and her friend to manicures and this place looked nice from the outside so I thought I would give it a try. Inside it is very modern and clean and they had ample staff to take all 3 of us immediately with no appointment. I had a pedicure and the woman was just fine although it seemed a bit rushed and I only got one coat of polish. My daughter and her friend seemed to really get the rush treatment which may be due to their age but I was still the charged full price! Both of their polishes were chipping the next morning without doing much to cause it. A man with very strong hands does come and give shoulder massages as you dry your nails which is nice. With all of the nail salons in such a small radius of town, I think I would try some place else before returning. read more

So Rushed and Careless! The massage is the only good thing about this place. They did 2 swipes on the bottom of my feet with the buffer and didn't get any rough skin off. She did not even take the time filing so my nails are all uneven and I have nail polish all over my skin. Glad I just wasted my time and money once again at this salon. I am so disappointed today.....I've been going to pricess nails fro couple of years now rather on regular basis. When i got there and paid for pedicure i received a small hand lotion as a holiday gift. So nice, right? when I sat in the chair the lady arrived. It was the same lady (older) that did my gel manicure week before. That was horrible - she cut 4 of my cuticles so deep I couldn't touch anything for the next two days, uneven lenght and angle of my nails, ....didn't go all the way to the cuticle with the nailpolish...:( I meant to ask for someone else, but it was kind of hectic - lots of ppl walked in at once and every one was assigned one of the manicurists. she got 20% tip (which I should have given to her in the first place). Today she did OK job, not great, got the nailpolish on my cutticles, and cut my toenails crooked (it seems it's typical to her style). I tipped her 10% instead of 20% as I usuallt do. As I started to walk away she laughed and chuckled with her friend and when I turned away she shouted obnoxious BYE!!!! Was I wrong to tip her only 10%? Best place for a mani-pedi on the Main Line. Great atmosphere, and well ventilated so no toxic polish/acrylic fumes. Well worth the price, averaging around $55 for a mani-pedi, but they usually have a special going on, or an added treat, like paraffin dips in the winter. The pedicures are amazing, they don't just polish, they massage your legs and feet for 10 minutes, then follow with a hot stone massage. While you are drying, you are treated to a fantastic (free) massage. You can extend the massage in the chair for a buck a minute, you can't beat that! read more

4/26 I went to get a manicure and pedicure with my friend. The cost was 84.00, and the service was slightly rushed. As soon as it was closing time everything came to a abrupt end. We paid before so all there was left to do was tip. When I handed the girl $20.00 for my friend and I she looked at the other girl and said, "That's for everyone?" I felt so uncomfortable I gave her another $5 to ease the situation. She came back 30 seconds later to let me know my nails were dry (clear coat) interrupting my conversation with my friend and basically telling me to leave. Moved into neighborhood so thought I'd try it based on reviews. Sure having a French refill at same time as pedicure felt like pampering, but during the week and at 545 when they close at 7 they rushed. No back rubs or even chair massage. The prices were very high. No cuticle trimmed and when I asked- on hands with the gel refill I got a blank look even tho it was pretty obvious. Nice job however- until 2 days later when my fingernail split. Came back following Saturday for repair and was not treated well, crappy repair job- had a massage which was very mediocre. Next refill I asked for color and while nice job on the nails the polish chipped the day after it was done. I specifically asked them to put the gel coat on top- obviously not( I was reading- big mistake). For $35 and tip , no thanks. I am done. read more

I haven't been here in a while, but can say I will not be returning. The water to soak my feet was cold. They warned it up when I asked but then it went downhill... I spoke up when they started cutting my toe nails - they really only needed to be filed, but they cut them painfully short. I'm not sure if she was ignoring me or was too busy trying to get the water set up for the customer in the chair beside me, but continued as if I hadn't said anything. I had to abruptly put an end to my pedicure when they cut my toe! Normally this is concerning, even in the cleanest salon (it's always seemed clean here), but I'm pregnant and need to be extra cautious. They are always very accomodating, even if I get there close to closing due to working late occasionally. I sometimes have a hard time getting the shape of my nails right at other places and they get it right every time. My favorite is that you can get a spa mani & pedi for only $60 and it's very clean. Ah-may-zing. Go to Joy for a manicure and Luisa for a pedicure. Luisa gave me the best pedicure I've ever had - beating out spa pedicures for more than double the price. Hot stones are included in the pedicure! I wanted to die. It was ridiculous. The leg and foot massage was long and not sloppy - you know how some people are just going through the motions and barely doing anything? Not Luisa! I felt like she knew where my calves were sore, where on the ball of my foot was aching...she was even massaging kinks that I didn't even know existed in my feet! And she didn't use that cheap Lanolin garbage. It was some kind of oil that smelled yummy. Not to mention, the filing/buffing/scrubbing/shaping/cuticle work/paint job was perfect. The manicure was also the best I've ever had (natural nails). However, I've never indulged in a crazy manicure (think Red Door's Champagne and Rose Manicure), so keep that in mind. Anyway, great hand massage for a manicure. I've had better when getting an actual massage, of course. She game me a free paraffin treatment one time... so sweet! The filing/buffing/shaping/cuticle work/paint job was also perfect. And the massages during nail drying that everyone talks about - they're really that good. This was my first time trying this nail salon and I really loved it. It is clean, modern, and relaxing. I got a mani, pedi, and eyebrow wax. The service was very professional and friendly. They have a big range of colors including OPI and Essie, which are my two favorites. The pedi took a little longer than other places I've been too, but it was worth it. It included hot stones and the polish job looks great. The mani was quick and included a parafin wax, which made my hands feel very soft. The neck rub was very relaxing afterwards while my nails were drying. They offer a point system in which 20 points equals a free manicure. The only other comment to this is that I went at a time when it was very quiet and not busy. I do not know how the service is during its busier times. Also, if it's under $25, it is cash only. I usually don't write any bad reviews, but for Princess Nails, I was very disappointed. I visited Princess Nails on a Saturday so there were many people. I got my mani and pedi done at the same time. I am Korean to start off with so as soon as I entered I knew the workers were Korean as they spoke Korean. As I got into my pedicure chair, the nice other lady started my pedicure. Until now I was doing well until the manicurist came up to me and started my nails. Already she was complaining that she was hungry and started to file my nails without any care and told the other Korean manicurist in Korean how ugly my nails were. Then she wanted to check if I was Korean or not so asked me if I was Chinese. I said, yes I am Chinese because already I felt pretty bad. Then she started to make complaints of how the customers only paid her small amounts of tip, and under her breath mentioned how my color choice had been disgusting and how international students have a lot of money but don't pay a lot of tip. At the end of the experience I told her I was Korean, and then under her breath mentioned a swift (sorry). Overall the pedicurist was nice and good and interior was clean and nice (only reason I gave two stars). I will never be going back. It was an embarrassing and shameful experience. read more

I went here yesterday in the middle of the afternoon for a french pedicure, without an appointment, and I am torn between giving 2 stars and giving 4 stars, so I'm giving 3 stars. Here's why. 2 stars because the woman who appeared to be in charge (though I found out is not the owner/manager... I think her name is Nina, but, at one point, she denied that was her name when an irate customer confronted her) definitely had a bad attitude. She might have just been having a bad day, but she just came off as rude to everyone from start to finish. While I was there, she had a loud argument with two men that came in for a massage and she didn't handle it very professionally. Those two guys were honestly being ridiculous, but she could have handled it much better than she did. Another reason was that, after parking on Cricket and paying for a meter for 2 hours, I found out that I needed cash to tip anyone (anything under $25, and all tips, must be paid in cash.) I wasn't about to drive out of my meter spot to get cash at an ATM, so I walked down (past the construction on the sidewalk) in 90 degree heat to the Bryn Mawr Trust. I know, it's like 30 feet away, but I'm 9 months pregnant and ready to pop, and I found it really cheap of them to put up a sign that said "Due to insufficient cash funding, we can't accept cash for anything under $25. All tips are cash only." It'd be different if it were in the city, but this is right on Lancaster in the heart of Ardmore... so a bit out of the ordinary. The last thing - I was really, really looking forward to a good exfoliation. I don't get pedicures more than a couple of times a year. I'm about to give birth and I would just love to have smooth feet, especially after spending the extra cash to get the French pedicure. The nail technician, sweet as she was, rushed through most of the first part of the pedicure and then spent a good 10 minutes massaging my feet and legs. The massage part was awesome, but I really wish I'd had the guts to speak up about the super-rushed (less than 1 minute) exfoliation part. I felt awkward about asking for more exfoliation because after trying to have a little bit of "Hi, how are you?" at the start, I realized that the nail tech didn't seem to speak any English at all. The 4 stars (positive stuff) is easy to keep brief: The salon space is nice and open, the pedicure chairs are luxe, the nail techs are polite (almost to a fault), and there is a guy who just does massages (from what I could tell) while your nails are drying. I had to give him a big tip because he gave me like a 10-15 minute amazing massage on my shoulders, neck and back. There is nothing like a really good massage when you are this pregnant. I almost drooled from being so relaxed. As for pricing, it's definitely HIGH for the kind of place with "Princess" in the name, they don't take cards for anything under $25, where English isn't anyone on the staff's first language, you don't need an appointment, and they rush through some parts of the process when they start to get busy, BUT they are right on Lancaster, in Ardmore, so the location has to play a part in the price. The prices are much lower than the "real' spas, so it's kind of an in-between type of place. I won't go back, though the massages were awesome, the atmosphere of attitude and the serious lack of attention to that exfoliation (the only reason I shell out that kind of cash for a pedicure! I can paint my own dang nails at home!) were critical no-nos in my opinion! read more

The finale of my manicure was removing the polish because my nails looked terrible. I never had anyone polish cuticles. When I asked the "boss" he said that she polishes from the cuticles.... that's her way. If I want my cuticles polished, I can do that myself.
