I have loved this place since I moved to NYC 8 years ago and nothing has changed (except the seating) -- the coffee is heaven if you're like me and like sweet and creamy (which is their "regular") -- pastries are excellent -- sit down breakfast and lunch are hearty, cheap and tasty enough to keep me coming back. I have ordered from here a number of times and every single time they are late. I order from them because they are close to my apartment, however that does not stop them from being 45 minutes to an hour late. Today is no exception I ordered at 11:15 am and its is now 12:50 PM. When I called the restaurant they gave an excuse that the machine was messed up, I dont buy that at all. They just figure since the customer has been charged already they can wait. DONT BE FOOLED!! I only get coffee here. The coffee is pretty good. They make it made to order, so it takes a bit for you to get it. Other than that they have pretty decent breakfast menu. If you are looking for something with like a "homestyle" breakfast. This would be the place. I've gone here a number of times and tried many items. The only items I can suggest are the cookies (which aren't phenomenal by any means.. just okay), and the cheesecake. The chocolate covered cheesecake is good. Nice and heavy, not too sweet. The milkshakes are horrendous. Just frozen fruit, milk, and WAY too much sugar blended together in a blender... Not ice creamy at all. The mini cannolis put NY to shame and taste like the refrigerator. Their danishes are soggy. The chocolate cake is hit or miss. I can't remember what else I've tried from there. Whatever it was, it must have left a bad taste in my mouth because I can't even remember it. The last time I went in there, I asked for a few cookies and the girl just made up a price (which was $5.50!)... The sign on the display case said "$7.50 per lb" and so I asked her (knowing that I didn't see her do it) "did you weigh them? She said "No we just know when the bag is full. You're bag isn't full. $5.50.".... I reminded her of what the sign on the display case said. She went over, checked the sign as though she had never noticed it, came back and said, with attitude, "$7.50"... I replied, pissed but polite, saying, " Okay, but how do you know the price? You didn't weigh the bag" She replied saying, again, with attitude, as if her asshole move was justified for this reason "We don't have anything to weigh it with". Needless to say, I walked out. Normally, I would have cause a bit more of a scene, but I was in a hurry to get to a ladies night with a few of my girlfriends (which is why I wanted to cookies in the first place). The service has never been great, but after that bitchy encounter, and the UNREASONABLE prices she tried to charge for a mediocre cookies, I have no reason to go back to that bakery, even if it is right around the corner... and their slices of cheesecake are good. I'll take a walk and go somewhere greater, like Fortunato Brothers. They deserve my money! Side note: They received a "B" sanitary rating, which is kind of hard to get considering they give you plenty of notice and time to clean your place up before they run inspections. read more

This place is really a 31/2 star or better. We got a cemita sandwich and a cubano and each of us ate half of both sandwiches. The cubano was excellent, and the cemita was solid. It was one of the busier lunch spots at 3pm, and the local crowd seemed to be enjoying their food. read more

OK so I came here on a whim, well on my bike. It was a hot sticky summer afternoon, after a long ride through the borough of Kings, I felt disoriented(and lost). I worked up an appetite and ended up on the Avenue of Puerto Rico,hence on a particular corner I see a bakery. Princesa is a bakery that also sells Hispanic sandwiches,and Mexican dishes. I wanted something healthy so I ordered a tuna fish sandwich. The sandwich took a little while to be prepared, but it was worth it. They chop and diced the tomatoes and onions into the tuna with mayo,between two toasty slices of freshly baked bread. I also had the morir sonando,(dying dreaming), it was perfect. A bit heavy on the ice,but overall perfection. So this Bushwick spot is really worth it. Go for a quick bite,or an espresso shot. read more

Horrible service!! They ignore you when you're trying to order. My friend ordered a #1 and they gave us a #2 instead and charged us extra for it. When we disputed the extra charge, they wouldn't take it off our bill. They are highly disrespectful to the customers. 0 organization, do not give them your support. read more

This place it's always busy and it may take a while for you to get your food. The food it's ok. Not too happy with the fact that there was a fruit fly in my drink. The girl did give me a new one but that just makes me wonder about how clean this place is. read more

David C. and I were working in the area and this appeared to be the only busy spot at about 1:30 in the afternoon. Most people both sides of the counter did not speak English so we figure it would be pretty good. The Cuban was stacked with meat and although I don't like mustard it was odd that I did not even come with mustard. Pickles were few and far between, but that's just fine with me. I think it's important to mention these things as they are staples of a Cuban sub. The Cimita was nice with a half pepper on top and the avocado made it really fresh, but I'm pretty sure it's supposed to have a shredded seasoned chicken on it....not a McChicken lookin type patty that was a bit chewy. In the end the food came out quick, we got stuffed, and for the 2 sandwiches a Jarrito's and a Diet Coke $15 isn't bad. read more

I have only got the coffee here the 2 times I've came. Coffee is pretty good and so is the price. Small coffee $1.75 large is $2.75. They are a bakery so they offer pastries and cakes. I see that they also offer sandwiches and certain entrees. I wouldn't hesitate to give it a try. It's always packed with people so it has to be good. read more

Very disatisfied with this bakery. I placed an order for a ham & cheese and cuban sandwich I sat for 40 minutes to get my order. Then there was a huge fly going around & a pan handler begging for money and staring at the customers. The staff didn't do anything about it. I won't be eating here again! read more

I don't recommend this place for un sanitary reasons. When they first opened, it was a pleasure eating there, but after 2 mths in business yuk The coffee is bad & have oil inside, the food is a noooo don't eat it, orders are missing or incomplete, they cook over & over on the grill & don't clean it & they stopped cleaning the fumes extractor, so when you leave, you'll stink like you was the cook. I took my 6 yrs old niece to have breakfast and she pointed at the wall where few roaches where crawling, I paid the breakfast & left the place withouth being served & went someplace else. I walked tru that zone everyday & you can see the rats hanging out by the 2 kitchen doors they have. Trust me I don't recommend or take not even my worst enemy to eat there. read more

I come there for breakfast and everything is great and at a great price. They have an esspresso machine that makes some of the best coffee I've had in this neighborhood. They also make fresh juices, but make sure you know what combination you want because they don't have a list of good combinations, they just wing it. The breakfast is also cheap, a bacon and egg sandwich on a hero was $3! The bread was fresh and soft as well. The workers are pretty friendly too. I give it 2 thumbs up! read more

The only best you can get are the milkshakes & natural juices.. Too many bad experiences on top you leave the place, with the fumes, like you was cooking. Can't understand why they don't keep up with cleaning & keeping those extractors working properly. The last time I visited even the coffee have oil & the plain bread have melted cheese & was cut open, when I ordered the bread to go. I took pics & send them with a report to the dept of health. If I could give no stars I would! Despite having a wheelchair bump this place is Not wheelchair friendly. So I was in the Broadway shopping area craving a flan. Where I saw this bakery. I thought to myself I shouldn't have any problems in my wheelchair. Since they had a smooth bump I would be able to enter the establishment, boy was I wrong. I had just enough space to enter, order, and get out which I said to myself I guess that would be the plan. As I stood in line ready to order one of the young ladies overlooked me I thought to myself maybe she just didn't see me. My assumption was wrong. She then looked me straight in my eye and as I was about to order she overlooked me and took the next persons order. I've never felt so belititled. I was so embarrassed I didn't even know what to do. I just left. I hope one day they train their employees to know that people in wheelchairs are just people! read more

I was so excited to buy dessert from this bakery, but was disappointed in my order. I called to find out what flavors of cheesecake were available. I was put on hold and the counter help forgot about me so my question wasn't answered. I ordered cheesecake anyway with a request for chocolate in the special instructions and to give me a call if it wasn't available. What was delivered to me? A strawberry cheesecake.
