As an empty nester, the thought of coursework and memorization seemed a bit daunting, but I didn't have to face it alone. I wasn't sure I would be able to afford the school, manage the schedule and workload, or even if tending bar was anything more than a romantic idea. The people who run the school, helped me navigate every obstacle. (Thank you, David and Kelly.) The instructors are not just experienced bartenders, these people are teachers. My specific class of students ranged in ages from 17 to 70-something and covered many diverse backgrounds. Using their extensive knowledge of spirits, classic cocktails, and techniques, the instructors taught each of us to develop our mixology, business, and personal skills. They tapped into our motivations and with their enthusiasm, made even the most complex of topics understandable and enjoyable. From fear to confidence in just two weeks--I earned my TIPS certification and state required BAC permit. I can now execute a top-shelf experience for guests while having a great time and making recession-proof income. *My instructors, David and Grace are well-versed in the art of mixology and perhaps most importantly, the local laws and regulations. Cheers to conquering the daunting and thriving together! Pictured: The Ernest Hemingway Mojito. Muddle fresh sprigs of mint, simple syrup (water & sugar or Stevia), fresh lime, ice, rum, and soda. The leadership of the school decided that instead of praising their gesture, to round them up, crush their spirits, and force them all to remove the ties and jackets they were wearing. In my opinion the faculty has been veering far left for years.

We found GHCD and it met/exceeded our expectations and I just felt so good about sending my girls there. Not only do they get a great education, but my twins LOVE it there. They love their teachers, their friends, and never have expressed that they weren't anything but excited to go to school every day. We are communicated with on a daily basis through the HiMama app, so we see everything they are doing during the day. We also feel that there are so many teachers who go the extra mile to make our girls feel seen and loved. I love that they pray before meal time and talk about faith on a daily basis. I also love that they are truly learning things (like the pledge of allegiance, and how to say their colors in spanish) besides just being watched during the day, which makes me feel like they are being set up well for the transition to actual school one day. Every single penny spent here is well worth it, and I am planning on sending our third there too!

The only reason this school exists; is the State of Tennessee Real Estate Commission REQUIRES…read moreapplicants to obtain "training" prior to taking the exams. The Real Estate Commission, composed mostly of Real estate licensees (77% by law), has taken on the task of feeding these "real estate schools" a massive stream of cash vis a vis Commission requirements. There is ZERO, ZERO, ZERO instructional design to this course. They have no idea what understanding, content, testing, reinforcement, or retention are. They don't know what the first rule of learning is. The have never heard of ADDIE, and the highest level of technology utilized in this course - is a credit card point of sale terminal. This is government level COMPLIANCE; it has nothing to do with training. I did not need to pay $375 for someone to read a book to me (anyone who needs someone to read a book to them, cannot pass this test anyway) - that is simply NOT "training." This is, at best, a misguided fleece job by the Tennessee State Real Estate Commission to pump money into the schools THEY APPROVE. I am fully capable of reading a book and taking a test. Have you actually seen a detailed syllabus? What is the approval process by the state other than a compliance of TIME of study? Seriously? The state mandates that an applicant receive 60 hours of training, but don't demand course content actually train students - come on. I wa told that 85% of CLI students pass on the first attempt. 1). THAT IS IMPOSSIBLE based on the class I attended. 2). Get ANY statement of pass ratio in writing - but I personally guarantee they will not give it to you, which means.. 3) Any training course that isn't guaranteed, is exactly that!!! Any student that would pay $375 for a training course and then fail the course without the ability to be retrained for taking the test again - at no additional charge - is appropriate. One of the instructors actually made fun of handicapped persons in class while "teaching" a subject. The instructor said hurtful things about mental health care. These people should be setting a professional tone for the future employees of an industry - not ifosterin / facilitating discrimination. This is a money machine; nothing more and nothing less. It was a waste.
