This place and the lady are wonderful! I had gotten my dress for my engagement pictures altered from someone else and she ruined my zipper... which i didn't realize until the day before my photos were going to be taken. So I called her and she got me in just two hours after i called to assist with my dress fiasco! She completely replaced the zipper and fixed the mess the last girl left just within two hours! she is also the sweetest and she really made my whole weekend! Heidi did a fantastic job hemming 2 pants for an upcoming important work conference. I called to make an appointment and Heidi was so thorough on the call to intake all the details like what type of pants, what color, what the even was for, what type of shoes I would wear, and even making sure to have them done well in advance so I could have a stress-free experience. Heidi also had a really great work setup that is clean and organized so you feel welcomed. She had great recommendations for the hem length and went to work right away. I'm disappointed in the customer service of this company. I asked my wife to bring my military veteran service patch to this place because it was coming off of my old hat, and I wanted it sewn onto a new one. At first the lady at the counter was polite and nice to my wife, but after finding out that the patch belonged to me (a woman also), her tone changed and she became rude and monotoned. My wife and I don't care about other peoples views on the LGBTQ community, but don't let it get in the way of doing a simple patch job for a paying customer. 23NOV2021: THIS IS IN RESPONSE TO THE OWNER - You shouldn't lie ma'am. You were not busy that day, the parking lot was empty and you had no customers, which was why you had time to sew my military patch. Heidi is so good at what she does! She altered my dress to fit me like a glove and make feel like a QUEEN on my wedding day! I wore off the shoulder sleeves for my ceremony & photos and she made it possible to remove them to move easily and dance for my reception. I also had a small health scare (I'm 100% fine!) during my initial fitting and Heidi went out of her way to check in with me to make sure I was okay multiple times. SMOKERS BEWARE! I was referred to this business by a friend who's wedding dress turned out fabulous. Called them to talk about my dresses and even made appointment to bring them in... Only for her to ask me at the very end, "Do you or anyone in your household smoke cigarettes?" (Which my friend was never asked) Yes. I am a smoker. But I have never smoked in or before trying on my dresses. (I'm also quitting at the moment for my wedding which I didn't bother trying to explain to her) AND the dresses are not even at my house. They're at my mother-in-laws house who DOESN'T smoke. I was then told they couldn't not take my business and referred me to someone else. She was pleasant and so was I... Super disappointed still. I understand the smoker thing, but feel like there should be some rules and exceptions. I would never expose my dresses to smoke of any sort in order to keep them nice. They should require the dresses to be in plastic at all time before working on it. And do an in store check before working on it... I know they don't want to spread "allergens and toxic contaminates" to other customers. But they for sure just lost one customer and my recommendation. Heartbroken. But moving on... read more

Called here today to see if they could do an alteration for my active duty military daughter who needed a shirt altered in 6 days. Their website says they can do things in short order...6 days for a shirt is not a rush! They were extremely inflexible with when she could come in and also said they would charge her $20 for a rush fee, give me a break for one uniform shirt! I called another top rated seamstress in the area who is rated higher and she said she would help her on a Saturday if that made it easier for my daughter, no rush charge and she can have it done earlier than requested. Lots of better choices who won't overcharge you! In response to the owner's response. Your response is dishonest. You falsely claim that the other alterations person who was so professional and flexible has a lighter workload. You don't even know which company helped her, so this is 100 percent fabrication on your part. She has a higher rating than yours, she was just kinder, more professional, charged a fair price and was willing to help a young woman out who she knows is active duty military! She doesn't just list military on her website as a marketing tool! read more

The first was several years ago when they still did wedding dress alterations, and they did such a great job with my wedding dress, I knew that this was where I would go for things that needed made/altered that were incredibly important. After reading some of the reviews for this establishment, I really thought it would be the perfect place to take a very simple dress for my vow renewal. However the way I was spoken to did not reflect the many great reviews this place has gotten. I can only attribute my bad experience to two things; I was a walk in, and I look considerably younger than I am. I'm no stranger to not being taken seriously due to my age. However, in a place where I would HOPE to feel comfortable and "pampered", as her website so flaunts, I felt utterly shamed and embarrassed. Heidi referred to my elopement as "running off to the DMV after high school". Despite the fact my husband and I are both in our mid-twenties and have been married for close to two years. She made it rather clear that despite my preferences on my dress, that it just wouldn't be practical to keep my favorite aspects the way they were. From what I can glean from reading other low reviews, coupled with my own experience, Heidi, the owner, operates shamelessly out of her own biases, and forms opinions about you the second you walk in the door. I did not feel listened to, or comfortable in any way during my trip here. The next day I felt so terribly about the situation that I sent a family member to pick up my dress, at which point she attempted to charge in order to get it back. I guess all I can say about it is that you'll know the second you walk in whether or not you should stay. read more

In my experience, Heidi and her team are wonderful! I bought a secondhand wedding dress that I loved, but it was about 2 sizes too small in the ribcage. These guys put in a corset back, and found the natural fiber materials I asked for to make it. And they added the burlap belt I wanted as well, and shortened the dress. It came out great. Also, five days before the wedding, my sister/maid of honor arrived in town with a dress on which her tailor had severely botched the alterations. Heidi and her team fixed the problems with the quick turnaround we needed. In the meantime, I also had them take in a suit for me. I purchased a sample wedding dress from Something New Boutique for my upcoming wedding. I was looking for alterations and Heidi came highly recommended. The dress was beautiful but needed the broken zipper replaced and to be taken out a bit. I reached out to her and made an appointment. She requested that I send photos of me in my dress to her first so she could give me an estimate. After I sent the photos she sent me an email asking for me to call her. This is where she told me that I was too big for my dress and should either sell it and get something else or see if Something New would take the dress back. I asked if she could just take the zipper off and replace it with a corset back. She stated this would not fix the issue and trying to get a whole new dress 4 months before my wedding was the best option. She cancelled my in face appointment at this time. I was devastated and began reaching out to other seamstresses if this was truly my only option. 4 other seamstress shops agreed that Heidi's consultation seemed not only unprofessional but incorrect. My fiancee was angry about how I was treated and decided to call Heidi himself, to which she denied everything and told him he could talk to her coworkers as her "witnesses". No apology, no explanation, nothing. I took my dress to one of the other four seamstresses that disagreed with the opinion and she has done an amazing job. The dress fits perfectly and has a new corset back which looks beautiful. The exact request that Heidi stated would not fix the issue. Not sure if Heidi is unskilled or is just opposed to working on plus size clothes but I would never recommend her to anyone, ever. read more

They also gave honest advice for an expecting mother about buying a bigger dress and waiting for the body to adapt to a growing fetus before getting alterations. You don't see this in Backpacker or Climbing Magazine but every hiker / climber needs someone who's great on a sewing machine to patch up all that gear that gets wrecked by the outdoors. Heidi and her crew always repair my gear quickly, at a reasonable price, and with great expertise. She's currently patching up a Patagonia hoody that I sorta melted trying to dry it out on a wood-fired stove at one of the 10th Mtn Division Huts. Oops. Yeah I could send it to Patagonia but by the time I pay shipping and wait 45 days the opportunity cost is too high. Heidi will have it fixed within a few days for not much more than the cost of what shipping would be. read more

I visited Heidi's shop several times last year with my friend who had her wedding dress altered here. Heidi did an amazing job on my friend's wedding dress alterations, so when I had a problem with my bridesmaid dress for a different wedding, I immediately called Heidi's shop. I explained the problem (small snag in the ruched bust area) and was told to bring the dress in so she could take a look at it. I made an appointment with this tailor a month in advance of my wedding. I read the reviews on Google and thought I made a fantastic decision. I arrived 15 minutes early, which I believe is customary, and the tailor was still assisting another customer who's children were wrecking havoc on her sewing room. Shouldn't the appointments be spaced so people aren't running into each other in tight spaces? While the other girl was changing out of her dress, the tailor leaned on her table and said, "Now, since your wedding is less than a month away, I will have to charge you a rush fee. I don't know if that's in your budget..." I told her that who ever I spoke with on the phone told me since I made my appointment on August 19, I would not be charged a rush fee. She looked at me with a flat face and her assistant piped up in a quiet voice that she was the one who told me that. The tailor said, "OK, well... then I won't charge the fee." After the other girl left, the tailor apologized for my wait and said that the previous girl's appointment was running late because the dress was very hard to alter. She said that the girl's wedding was in 2 weeks and this was her first appointment. The sewing room itself was set up very nicely, neatly, and had beautiful decor. I loved the ambiance. When it came time to try on my dress, I was told that her assistant would help, which she did not. My mother ended up coming in to assist me. Well, the dress didn't fit... but I was at a tailor, so she could fix it! I walked into the room and the tailor began shaking her head while sneering at me. She told me she'd seen the dress just the other day. I was speechless and in shock from her rude demeanor, so I just stood slack jawed. She said, "Oh, well it doesn't matter. It's not like you're going to the same wedding." She walked around me a couple times and said that I needed to go shopping. She said that there was a four inch gap in the back of the corset and she would be unable to fix that much of a gap without making it look unprofessional. She also mentioned that there was not any room to let out the dress due to the way David's Bridal cut dresses. I walked back to the dressing room almost in tears, full of anxiety, and feeling ugly. She gave me a couple business cards to call about getting other dresses. Her and her assistant then proceeded to ignore me and whisper with their backs turned. I felt like I was in high school with the "cool girls" talking behind my back! I ended up finding another tailor who let the dress out 1 inch on each side, moved the modesty panel over 1 inch, and lo and behold my "unalterable" dress is a perfect fit. I would not recommend this tailor to anyone. read more

If I could give negative stars, I would. I went to Heidi at the Button, Needle & Wardrobe looking for a SIMPLE blind hem on my dress slacks as I needed the length shortened. When I pick them up, the hems were severely botched. I mean the sloppiest work I have ever seen. The hem is CLEARLY visible on the outside of the pant leg, on the inside of the pant leg the hem is coming loose in multiple places, 2 diff colored threads used for some unknown reason, tons of loose threads pointing in various directions, & looks like I had track marks on the outside pant leg. And when asked why they look like this, she states that's the best way in order for the machine to grab the fabric & stitch it. So I give her another chance to fix it. Come back a 2nd time and they look worse. The fabric on the inside of one of the pant legs is now cut crookedly, hem is coming loose on ALL three pairs of pants she was supposed to fix, and still very visible on the outside. This lady boasts on her website that she has 20+ yrs experience sewing but she can't do a simple hem. She told me she worked REALLY REALLY hard to fix my pants, which is very scary. B/C if she thinks that the hems she did on my pants were acceptable, I'm scared to even think what happens when she has more complex items to alter. After telling her my concerns the 2nd time, instead of trying to fix the issue and listen to me, she just says she'll refund my money. Which clearly shows she is not capable of doing a SIMPLE HEM. See the pics posted below, you'll see what I mean. Oh and btw, she works out of her basement in her home- and on my multiple visits there, her young daughter was doing all of the work each time. The button the needle and wardrobe did an amazing job making a tulle skirt for my wedding! I got married at 21 weeks pregnant and she started measuring me around 14 weeks and continued to measure every few weeks before the final product! Heidi was awesome. She even sewed in an elastic band at the back of tulle skirt for extra comfort and the elastic was able to be covered with the beautiful sash bow she added to tulle skirt as well. Highly recommend this place for any of your custom pieces or tailoring needs! Great customer service! read more

This is a hidden gem! Heidi is so sweet, welcoming and eager. Upon walking in to their extremely adorable little spot, I was greeted with a smile. I needed a dress altered for a ball that I was attending. Heidi was very attentive and not only listened to what I wanted done, she gave her professional opinion as well which helped make my dress look like it was made specifically for me. I by no means have an eye for these types of things so listening to Heidi explain to me why we would do such things to the dress I knew she was going to knock it out of the park. When I came back (about a week later?) my dress was ready for me to try on. I was a little nervous but that was because of my own insecurities. After trying it on, I felt amazing! I had never worn a formal looking dress before so I wasn't sure what to expect once I got to try it on again. Sure enough, I felt absolutely beautiful. It was all thanks to Heidi! I can't wait to come back to get some other alterations done. (I am short so most clothes fit me awkwardly). I know that Heidi will do a fantastic job. Her genuine hospitality makes it easy to gravitate towards and feel comfortable in a sometimes a not so comfortable environment. (I don't particularly enjoy trying clothes on.) What a great place to learn how to sew. I bought a sewing machine with no experience. After taking a private class and then group classes, I'm not afraid of my machine and use it with confidence. Heidi taught me how to make cute bags, pajama bottoms, and a running skirt. Instead of making clothes, I've really taken to quilting! I'm so thankful of the skills Heidi taught me in the classes and it really gave me confidence in using my sewing machine. I still love making little bags and projects but not really clothes.
