    Duck Breast

Waited 20+ minutes for water, then another 20 for our order to taken, and then another 20-30 minutes to be told that the appetizer we ordered is unavailable. The manager was very nice in offering a different free appetizer but it doesn't take away from the time that was wasted from exploring Banff itself. After being served the appetizer, we waited at least 45 more minutes for our main courses to be served (after having to inquire about the status of our order). Our food was also served cold. We appreciate the manager's efforts but this was overall not a good experience at all. One other warning -- I ordered the duck breast, which was presented well and delicious. But do not order this if you are very hungry as the portion is SMALL, especially for the price that you pay.

Primrose had a fantastic pasta and wine night, which made for a really fun dining experience. You get to choose your own ingredients, and then they prepare the pasta right in front of you. It tasted absolutely delicious. Another great perk was that selected wines were 50% off, making it even better value. On top of that, there was a large salad and dessert bar, adding even more variety to the meal. Overall, a great concept with excellent food and a nice atmosphere. Would definitely come back for another pasta night!

4 star for the food, +1 star for the excellent reception from Chas (forgot his name :(( ). We came here on Thanksgiving day with a reservation, we were warmly greeted at the front, dropped off our thick coats, and proceeded to our window-side table. The staffs were all very accommodating to our never-ending requirements (very persistent in-law lol). I had the seafood bisque with seared scallops, both were appetizer dishes. The rest of my party had main dishes - duck, halibut, and lamb. I would say all the proteins were VERY fresh, especially the scallops! They were all cooked and seasoned to perfection!! The only one I was slightly disappointed in (only because it didn't stand out), was the seafood bisque. However even then, it had lots of bits inside it (lots of fish!). The dishes themselves were not too big (not American-sized lol), but was definitely enough for a normal appetite person. We were also provided a gazpacho with avocado cream on the house as our appetizer, and it was very yummy. Definitely not something we would've ordered but glad to have tried! All the staff were SUPER friendly, and I was very happy with our seating and the fact that we were able to opt for a la carte even on Thanksgiving day. Pricing isn't too bad considering this being quite a fancy hotel restaurant, would recommend if you like mountain views and fancy food!

Located at the Rimrock hotel in Banff, we were surprised that the restaurant was offered with a breakfast buffet. Cost of buffet is $32 per person which includes cold and hot choices. We chose this because to our knowledge, Ontario still didn't have any such buffet. Plenty of fruits and smoke salmon. Great choices of pea bacon or normal bacon and sausage. poached eggs or scrambled. However, you can order an omelette done right Infront of you. Of course, there is à la carte with plenty of veggie options. The restaurant offers breath taking views of the Rocky mountain..just imagine. Our server was professional and very attentive. Rimrock hotel offers amongst it's restaurants, it's four diamond restaurant, Eden and the widely popular Primrose. $$-$$$

Christmas Breakfast was a very special one at the Primrose with my family as we were staying at the Rimrock Resort Hotel during our visit to Banff. This delicious superfood parfait, layered up with Greek yogurt, homemade granola, chia seeds and hemp seeds, and topped with blueberries and honey whipped cream, was all I needed to get me in the Christmas spirit. The granola had a good crunch with the right sweetness which paired well with the Greek yogurt, while the honey whipped cream added a touch of sweetness and flavour. High in protein, low in sugar, this parfait was definitely dessert worthy, yet breakfast appropriate!!

We had breakfast here twice. It's on 6th floor. Service was friendly. Bread section, lachs and cheese section and fruits are excellent. Warm food section even had two kinds of egg benedict! Coffee in a pot on every table was nice. Yeah, the view was good here also.

Admittedly, I'm not much of a drinker but I'll have some once in a while and Bear Street seems to have a pretty good selection. I tried a Vietnamese Coffee Stout which I enjoyed. I'm definitely more of an eater than I am a drinker and the eats at Bear Street Tavern are excellent. My party got 2 pizzas and a salad and we enjoyed it all. To start we got the Tavern Bowl. It's a bunch of different vegetables with a Tahini Miso Dressing and kimchi on top. All the different textures and flavors worked really well together and the salad served as a nice break between bites of pizza. The Wheeler Hut pizza has mushrooms, ricotta, truffle oil, pesto, and mozzarella. If you're a fan of truffle flavor you'll enjoy this pizza. As soon as it was brought out I could already smell the truffle. The Mediterranean has olives, feta cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, artichokes, red onions, chili flakes, spinach, mozzarella, and balsamic glaze. A little busier than the Wheeler Hut, but it was equally delicious. I'm not sure which pizza I liked more. Both pizzas had a fantastic crust with some char. Substantial enough to stand up to the toppings but still a little doughy for a nice chew. The char gives a nice crunch as well. Service is quick and friendly and the prices are fair, especially in a tourist area. I definitely recommend Bear Street Tavern.

We then shared a Waldorf salad, which was refreshing and nice. Then we both selected red wine varietals grown in Canada. I had a Cabernet/Merlot blend which was super great. Would've never guessed it was from Canada. Next, My wife enjoyed a Pinot Noir that was light and complimented our entrée perfectly. Our entrée was the fillet and prawns served over a garlic mashed potato. This is an absolutely extraordinary dish. We shared it and it was just enough for two people. It is a full meal for one person. The filet temperature preparation was perfect. The prawns were extraordinary, and the garlic mashed potato made you curl your toes! Then we closed the evening with the melted chocolate soufflé, which was divine. Here's the one thing that they missed and to me it's an important miss. They use an automated system for taking reservations. And it kept asking for my name to which I said "Chris" and the automated system kept asking me what's your name!? So it asked hey fourth time and in my frustration I got playful and I said "Big Daddy." And it happily received my name and took my reservation. And then asked if there was any special occasion and I said yes my wife and I are celebrating our anniversary. I get that it may not seem normal to say "Big Daddy party for two". So I'll kind of let that pass because neither front door or upstairs Host was willing to ask. But what I don't like that was missed was our anniversary wasn't acknowledged. I was a server for years, and every host gave the server some type of chit or note to let them know if there is a special occasion. We specifically selected a higher end restaurant for anniversary. So somewhere in there, even if you weren't brave enough to say "Big Daddy for two." Someone still should've checked if you were celebrating any special occasion to which we were. Our anniversary. Our server was fabulous. She was super kind helpful and shared about her experience being in Banff. She made us feel great. My overall experience, the Mapleleaf is a great restaurant. But I'm scoring you an A- because you missed our anniversary. and that's why we chose you. So if you're going to use AI, you can't miss special occasions. Chris & Trisha from Long Beach, CA

5/5 -- Outstanding Experience at The Maple Leaf!…read more We had an incredible Birthday Dinner for our daughter at The Maple Leaf, and a huge part of that was thanks to our server and bartender, Megan. She was fantastic--friendly, attentive, and spot-on with her recommendations for both drinks and appetizers. We started the evening with a Maple Old Fashioned, which was perfectly balanced and set the tone for the night. For starters, we ordered the Fior Loaf Buttered Cheese Bread, which was warm, well-seasoned, and absolutely delicious. Our family tried a variety of entrées, and every single one impressed: * Maple Salmon Prawns - flavorful and beautifully prepared * Mafalda Limone Pasta - bright, creamy, and comforting * Roasted Harvest Chicken - cooked perfectly with great seasoning * Bison Burger - juicy, unique, and packed with flavor To finish, we indulged in dessert with the Maple Crème Brûlée and the Hot Chocolate Soufflé--both outstanding and the perfect ending to a great meal. Overall, The Maple Leaf delivered an exceptional dining experience. Amazing food, warm ambiance, and standout service from Megan made this one of the best meals we've had.

One of my favourite dishes is the fondue dinner in multi course version. I love their hearty ooey gooey French onion soup but you can opt for the salad if you're wanting something light and fresh prior to the decadent items that lie ahead. The cheese fondue is as good as every cheese fondue I've ever tasted but you can try a bunch of different game meat for the next course. The game ranges from buffalo, venison, to wild boar. I went with the venison which is so delicious when cooked right and finally ended with the sweet velvety chocolate fondue. The wait staff are friendly, quick and make the experience so much more enjoyable through interactive cooking and good old charm.

I started off with an Old Fashioned and maybe the best French onion soup I've ever had. For the main course we had Alberta Beef and Caribou. Very high quality and tasty meat. Our waitress was super busy but still took the time to explain everything, cooking recommendations, dipping sauces, etc. Being such a touristy place I went in with pretty low expectations but was pleasantly surprised by the whole experience. Definitely recommend a reservation but if you don't have one it's worth the wait in my opinion.
