As of December 2024: I've been a client of theirs for almost 2 years now and adore their weekday deals and services! Honestly I don't have a go-to manicurist because, in my opinion, the ladies who have served me (usually) did an excellent job- minus some accidental hiccups. Overall, the employees are professional, can read the room, and do a nice job. The price is reasonable for the location (especially) with the weekday specials. The music is excellent as they play a playlist of lofi hits. Most of the clients also keep to themselves whenever I visit so the ambience is peaceful, especially for those who need a rest from NYC's busy life. The color variety and quality brands they curate are excellent too so there will be a color you can find even if the one that you initially wanted is discounted (I'm looking at you silver!!!). As soon as we walked in, we felt like we had stepped into a calm, beautiful sanctuary. The biggest highlight for me is Natalie, an absolutely phenomenal nail artist. Her talent is unmatched--she's detailed, creative, and always gets the design just right. Whether you have a full idea or just a concept, she brings it to life with care and precision. I've been seeing Chiew at this location for a year now and as much as I want to keep gatekeeping, I know it's just not fair to keep this secret any longer. Not only will Chiew kill *every* design I bring (and sometimes even improve upon it), but she is so careful with my nails that those puppies do. not. budge. Seriously, even with 3 weeks of growth, the actual design is still standing strong. I was nervous about going gel full-time, but Chiew does such an amazing job of removing it and caring for my nails that, if anything, I think they've gotten stronger over the last year instead of weaker. The salon itself is nice, with friendly service, a nice atmosphere, and plenty of colors to choose from. But really, if you like custom designs, Chiew is THE reason to come here. read more

Normally I get gel polish on natural nails, but I had somewhere else for that (big mistake!), and then bitten and torn my nails (and gel polish!) off and needed saving. After this service with Natalie I am never going back! Natalie gave the utmost attention to sculpting each and every nail. It looks completely natural, and sturdy. She also gave me great tips on nail health and growth, and picked out the most beautiful color for me. Interior is very clean and relaxing. Showed up 10 minutes after their opening time of 10am on a Wednesday and they were locked up having a meeting. Said they wouldn't open until 11am. This wasn't listed anywhere. We had such a great experience at Primp and Polish! My friend and I decided last minute to get pedicures on a Saturday evening. We called all of their locations, and this was the only spot with two open appointments at the same time. We were so grateful they were able to squeeze us in! The salon is chic and modern and super clean. All of the staff members wore masks and protective barriers were set up. There was a great selection of colors and we even got to choose an essential oil for our foot bath. Our standard pedicures were complete with an exfoliating scrub and a brief hot stone massage. The pedicures turned out great and were reasonably priced at $42 per person. Note that they prefer cash for tip but will accept Venmo :) read more

I agree with the below comment(s) that the front staff is a displeasure to work with. The lady at the front, Monika, was maybe the most rude and least accommodating service I've ever gotten at any salon. My wedding is scheduled for this Sunday. I made an online appointment for a regular mani/pedi and called to reschedule so that I could do nail extensions instead for my wedding. When I arrived, I mentioned the design I wanted and Monika told me they didn't have enough time for me to do it. I told her that I'd mentioned it during the phone call and that it's for my wedding. She said it wasn't in their system and kept saying they didn't have "enough time to do it" because they're "really busy." She didn't apologize and didn't even seem apologetic, she ONLY apologized when I decided to stay because I didn't have time to find an appointment somewhere else. Overall she was just an unpleasant person to speak to. So then I showed her an ombré French tip and asked if they would do that, Monika said yes. I did my pedi, and afterward, my nail tech said it counter as a design and she couldn't do it. I was visibly frustrated and she agreed to do it. Really not the relaxing pampering I expected before my wedding, and at the price they charge? If I had more time I would go anywhere else, even somewhere with less talented nail techs, just to avoid the attitude and poor service of the staff. read more

Wanted to love this place. Super easy online booking, appointment reminder, friendly staff and great color selection. But I was looking for a relaxing pedicure to not only accomplish the obvious but to also de-stress and enjoy some me time. Unfortunately they don't seem to enforce a phone policy or even an etiquette policy. The entire duration of my Dead Sea salt spa pedicure this woman was shouting on the phone, THE ENTIRE HOUR AND 10 MINUTES. She was so loud because she wanted to talk over the music. Her pedicure had been done for 30 minutes and she continued to sit there and enjoy her loud phone conversation which could be heard throughout the entire salon. I spent the entire pedicure plus extra massage staring at her rather than enjoying my experience, it was impossible not to. Like no exaggeration: shouting. The two other techs in the area clearly understood her behavior was disruptive to other guests (me) and just ignored it. It was so uncomfortable I was about to address the woman, but as a customer I shouldn't have to be made to feel that uncomfortable. I HIGHLY recommend going to any other salon in the area, I'll be going back to Lili & Cata from now on where everyone is respectfully enjoying the experience they're paying for and relaxing. I was hesitant to get my nails done during the pandemic (I had gone elsewhere and felt unsafe), but really needed to after having calluses on my feet and banged up nails for months. I was beyond satisfied with the job here at Primp & Polish as well as the safety protocols taken. It was a very large open space with curtain dividers in the pedicure area, which also added to the ambiance. The atmosphere is very spa like and relaxing. All customers were spaced apart. skip the Dead Sea pedicure--it's not at all worth the cost. it's just the classic pedi, except $20 more, with a rushed callus treatment. and even though you'll also get the cucumber cream with the massage, it lasts 10 seconds so you don't even get to enjoy it. do the classic pedi and add on a callus if/when you need it. gel mani colors in the book are often sold out, so be ready and have your second, third, and fourth choices picked out. read more

It was my 5th time visiting this salon, It's very clean and nice place in Greenpoint, once I got to know this place I always liked it until I met Sophia today, They usually greet you , ask for a tea but not this time, and that's ok. but she just seemed very frustrated at the beginning and she sighed here and there when she started removing my gel nails. She didn't ask me what kind of shape I want, she just began to file my nails round (it's ok since I wanted to do round this time, but previously it was almond ,guess she didn't like my almond nails!) I picked light gray color and it was very translucent, after 2 coats it was way better but OBVIOUSLY it needed 3 coats, but she just started putting top coat without asking so I asked her if I can have one more coat and she said "YOU REALLY NEED ANOTHER COAT???" Walking in, I loved the atmosphere of this salon. Everything was clean and crisp, and I was able to pick out my polishes in an orderly fashion. My date and I were right on time for our appointment, so we were promptly taken to the back and sat side-by-side for a pedicure. While my date's manicurist got straight to the point, mine took a bit of time to ask the both of us for our drink requests. The pedicure: One of the main reasons that I picked this place was for the massage chairs, and they were great. We relaxed and sipped our tea as our feet were well-attended. The hot stone massage at the end was a nice added touch. Abruptly, I watched as my date was whisked away to the manicure station. I know that our timeline differed because my specialist got our drinks and the other didn't, but I think it would have been nice to keep us in the same place, given that we had booked a joint appointment. I digress. The manicure: Once I was done with my pedicure, I was taking over to the manicure bar area, and began the process. Another nice touch that I found was that the manicure bar had fans at the bottom to dry my pedicured feet as my hands were being treated. Although my specialist was quite lovely and sweet, she did end up cutting one of my fingers so deep that it didn't stop bleeding for the rest of the appointment. This, in turn, caused​ there to be deep blood stains on my finished manicure. My date asked for a single stripe to be added on each index finger which was not on the original order that I had booked on the phone. After a series of confused looks by the specialist, and a translation from my specialist, she explained that she needed to ask the manager if the addition was possible. Upon her return, she informed us that there was no time to add the single stripe and continued what she was doing. While I understand that it wasn't in my initial booking, I do not think that two stripes would take up too much time. It turned the appointment from feeling like a relaxing treat for ourselves, to feeling like we were being rushed out the door. The end result: when it was all done, we had very nice colors that seems to be put on quickly. There were spaces of untouched nail around both manicures, which caused them to chip off two or three days into the week. Neither manicure made it a full 7 days before needing to be retouched. All-in-all I do not believe the end product was worth the money spent. Also, keep in mind that tip is cash only. There are a couple of banks across the street, but it's worth it to bring cash with you. Star deduction 1: Rushed feeling and non flexible appointment. Star deduction 2: End product did not stand the test of time. Cut finger burned for days and ruined manicure. read more

Unbelievably rude!! I made my first appointment, and was so excited. The lady who greeted me was super nice. Then, I asked if I could have a pedicure first (to give it plenty of time to dry during my manicure), and was told no. I asked if I could at least pick out my colors first, and was also told not u til they took my gel off. Then, the lady straight up rolled her eyes to the other lady right in front of me. Then, she started removing the grl, and was super rude and rushing, then just walked away to chat with her friends. I literally walked oit, and nobody even noticed or cared. I do not like to feel rushed or like an inconvenience when I am pampering myself. Originally, I dis call and move my appointment from 1:30pm to 2pm, but I ended up arriving at 1:30pm anyway, so I did not see any reason for me to be rushed or feel like I was a major inconvenience. Right before my birthday wanted to do gel manicure at this place , first time there walking in and my impression was already skeptical, very rude and unpleasant front desk girls, not welcoming at all, they squeezed me on gel manicure - the girl who was doing my nails, she was in a rush very rude and very unpleasant to sit in the front of her, the nails came out very tick- she put 3 layers- and so fair from my cuticles - looks terrible, I asked to fix few of them- they didn't have a spot for me afterwards so the offered me to came back next day - next day I asked to actually ad a French line to my very natural nails- the said is $25 extra. No problem for me. After when the nails where done- they looked so terrible I couldn't look at them - overall paid $100 for my gel French manicure with the worst experience, never ever coming back there again, I want next day somewhere nearby and my nails looked amazing with great atmosphere inside - don't expect to much from this place because looks fancy. Came here last night and by far it turned out to be the best mani-pedi i had in NYC. I alway do regular color and 99% of technicians manage to get the polish on the skin all around the nail and have to "clean it up". Not here! Lisa did the most precise job! No smudges, no cuts - only clean beautiful mani! Pedicure was also very nice (i just opted out of polish - it's fall and getting it smudged inside the sock and a rain-boot wasn't part of my plan). I told Lisa about the problem nail on one of the toes and she did a great job of fixing it for me. Great work all around! Place is nice, clean and stuff is friendly. It's more expensive than your regular nail salon on the block ($55 for regular color mani-pedi) but definitely worth it! Will definitely be back! read more

Came here on a Wednesday evening and was promptly greeted by the manager. (I'm not sure what her name is). She asked if I wanted to wait for my friend before my session (gel manicure and classic pedicure) began, to which I replied, "Nope, I'm on a schedule." Mina, the woman that did my nails was so calm and sweet, knowing it probably took a lot of patience for her to deal with me deciding on which color I wanted, first for my toes and then my fingers; I changed my mind at least three times for each. But I must say, that it is not my fault. They literally have over 200 colors for you to choose from. Better more than less though. I had a very positive experience at this salon and will definitely return. But only for like serious occasions (weddings, birthdays, book signings, etc.), because their prices though, nah. Primp and Polish has horrible customer service. I made an appointment with my preferred technician for my services. Upon arrival, I was informed that she was not assigned to my appointment and the person at the "call center" failed to attach anyone specific to my services. I relayed that at the top of my call to make the appointment I asked for who I preferred and as my profile will indicate she's my only technician, she's the only person I ask for, I would not have just made an appointment with anyone. When the front desk personnel looked at my profile and couldn't deny that the error was on their part, I don't feel like she did everything she could to rectify. I didn't do all the services I made the appointment for, my technician was rushed and therefore didn't do a good job, I didn't receive a single apology or recognition of the error was not made. I couldn't complete all my services and therefore missed out on the discount/deals for combo services. I sent two emails to the customer service account, no response. The only people you have to deal with if you have an issue is the front desk person, but not only are they not helpful they usually don't have the answers, so customer service just remain unmet. One appointment my technician had to advocate for me because I was being overcharged. I won't be going back and I would say don't bother trying. There are too many better rated nail salons in Williamsburg that do the same if not better nails, to deal with this poor service. And to be clear, this is in regards to the front deck and not the technicians, but you can't get to the technicians without dealing with the front desk. read more
