The worst experience I've ever had in a salon. I would like to note that I have never felt the need to download yelp but thought people should know how they treat people of color and/or people in the LGBTQ community. I was given a gift certificate to this spa but when I came in on 10/15/18 I wanted them to treat me as a new customer. I came in and inquired about a gel manicure, the manicurist had dark brown hair and responded that they do not do gel. She was very blunt and did not offer any alternative. I asked, "what do you do?". She responded saying "shellac" which is a type of gel... I said okay that would be fine. She asked if I currently had gel on my nails and I said yes. She then tells me I would have to go to a different salon to get my old gel removed and then come back to her for my manicure. I was appalled and asked her why? She tells me she doesn't really know how to remove gel, I proceeded to ask more questions and she then says she can do it, it just takes time and that it would be an extra $15 to remove. We make an appointment and I told her I would go to a different salon to get my gels removed since she originally said she didn't know what she was doing. Hours later I came back for my appointment with my old gel removed and Gosia the owner and the manicurist with dark hair were there. Gosia was very confrontational and aggressive at first. I explained to her that I have never had a business tell me to go elsewhere for a service they provide and told her I was offended. I felt like the manicurist should have told me that it would take however long and the price associated with the service. After going back and forth Gosia defended her employee and said she was a nice girl and she has been working there for years and they don't know what's on my nails. She acted as if they only remove gel when it's their product because their gel is higher quality. After trying to explain to her my experience she brushed the conversation off with an apology that felt disingenuous and like it was just a necessity. Gosia proceeded with my manicure and asked what color I wanted. I wanted gold chrome but she only had silver and rose gold so we went with silver. During the manicure, Gosia took her time and I thought she was doing a great job until the end. After 2 coats of clear, 2 coats of black, and a coat of clear, is when they put the silver chrome on top which is about the normal procedure for chrome. Each coat goes under the UV light. After putting the silver on she put a clear coat on and I went under the UV again. After this we are almost finished until she starts cleaning my nails with alcohol and the chrome starts coming off! Gosia panics about the silver coming off and then tells me "It's because of your old gel you had on before. This is a waste of my time". I couldn't believe she actually said I was a waste of her time. I told her that my previous gels we're grown out a lot and there had been no gel near my cuticle and yet the chrome is coming off there. She proceeded to tell me "I've been working in nails for 30+ years and now you are telling me what the case is?". She put the UV lamp down and slammed some plastic finger clamps in front of me and said she was going to start over. I said "No, can you just add more chrome and another top coat because I don't have the time"(it had been 2 hours at this point). She said okay and did just that. After she sent me to wash my hands instead of cleaning with alcohol. Once I finished Gosia asked to look at my nails twice and I showed her. She looked up at me each time for my opinion and I was silent. She then told me that the manicure was free of charge because of my experience and did not try to clean up my nails. I walked out looking like the 1st attached picture. The silver started chipping off within 24 hours like the 2nd picture. My friend went back to the shop days later to get a refund for the certificate and expressed her disappointment in the salon. Gosia told my friend that I gave her a difficult time. I had two facials at this salon. Second time with Amanda, first time someone else. I didn't have a good experience neither times. Both technicians were rude throughout the all thing (especially Amanda), the treatments were rushed, expensive and only lasted 40 minutes. They don't wear masks to protect clients from Covid 19 and when I asked Amanda why she said that masks and vaccines are only a way for organizations to make money. She was so opinionated that I didn't say anything because I didn't want to ruin what was supposed to be a relaxing experience for me. She decided not to apply a mask that would have stayed on 10 minutes because she thought that I was going to be claustrophobic but did not substitute it with something similar in fact the facial was extremely fast. The first time I went I felt pressured to buy products so I did and they were not even good. I don't recommended this place at all!!! read more

How this place has any positive reviews is beyond me. I purchased a $70 gift card for my girlfriend. There was no mention or reference to an expiration date. My gf got busy and didn't end up coming in to redeem it approximately 1 year later. We came in to schedule the appointment and the woman behind the desk rudely stated that we could not redeem the gift card because it was expired. However, THERE IS NO EXPIRATION STATED ON THE CARD! The woman claimed the expiration policy is stated on the website, however there is no link to the website on the card! The woman behind the desk had no idea I am practicing New York based attorney otherwise she would have know I would promptly researched the rules pertaining to the enforceability of gift cards. As expected, the law provides that an expiration date must be clearly stated on the gift card or there is no expiration date. We thereafter called the spa informed the woman of the law expecting all could be resolved. Rather than apologizing and chalking it up to a misunderstanding, this woman doubled down and essentially stated that she doesnt care what the law says and that she follows her own rules. I personally would not want someone touching my face who has no regard for the rule of law. In light of their failure to adhere to the law we promptly filed a complaint with the Consumer Affairs and an investigation has been launched. I received a gift certificate with NO expiration date. A year and 5 months later I wanted to use it and the owner of the place refused to accept. At first she said she needs to find her receipt and would call me, but didn't, so I called her to ask if she found it. She said she did but won't accept the gift certificate. I explained to her that it wasn't written anywhere that there is an expiration date and NYS law is that it must be written on the card. She answered that she "doesn't care what the law says" and that she is the owner and the only law is what she decides and that the reason it's not written is because it'll make the card look "crowded" (They did add on the card their cancelation policy, however.) I am shocked to see how this lady spits in the face of customers- the same people that are the reason the place is still open. She has no respect. I would give 0 stars if it were possible. read more

I love a good spa day. I will sometimes go big at places like Silk in the city but lately it seems like a lot of money for not a great service. Since I like regular treatments this place is wonderful. It is no muss no fuss, super clean, they are professional and effective. I love going there and get regular anti-aging facials. After 35 years old I feel like this is something that helps me feel rejuvenated and confident. They are affordable and often have promotions which is also great. I had the BEST facial here. Gosia the owner did an amazing job with my 1st facial in over a year due to Covid. I tried the OxiLight Facial and my face feels and looks great! My face was so incredibly dry. I really needed major hydration, collagen stimulation, and to address my "maskne" which thanks to Covid is a thing with acne breakouts from masks. I was glowing on the way out and so happy my large pores were no longer clogged. She uses the best and clean products for the face. The spa has been in Williamsburg for 16 years. I had a bikini wax here and would not recommend. The waxer put the hot wax machine between my legs which was a definite health and safety risk. She did not provide me with anything to cover myself while she was entering or leaving the room, opening the door to a corridor where other people had been walking past. If you want a real Shellac Manicure.. Williamsburg Beauty Spa will give you that! Loving Williamsburg Beauty Spa-- At first I very hesitant on getting a Shellac Manicure here. When I saw the color assortment they have I thought to myself where is the Gelish colors, Perfect Match, and all the other colors the other salons have. So I picked a Shellac color and figured I'm here might as well get it done. So I began my mani-- Completely different experience then anywhere else. First off the manicurist explained to me why they only use Shellac, the other products are copy products (which I understand most things are.) She also explain that there is a website you can go on to find which salons are certified to do the actual Shellac mani/pedi. This was a wake up call-- I didn't know you need to re-school for this, I did go on the website and found out all the places I have gone to before are not certificated. Honestly I think I went for 3 months straight to the salon and my nails got a lot strong, normally after the other salons take it off they where brittle and weak. To be honest-- I haven't gone to this salon for a little bit and I'm very disappointed in myself. The experience was great and the equipment is always clean. I even love the fact that the pedicure bowl is made out of glass-- Bacteria doesn't stink to glass compared to the plastic ones. I can't wait to book my appointment-- If you're in the area i recommend you make an appointment and get a proper manicure and pedicure. Plus, the price is right, compared to other spas for similar services (Brazilian is just $40). Everything is very clean, and the staff is friendly & professional. I went for a Microdermabrasion for Spa week and they charged me micro+facial saying that they did both. I didn't request both and my appointment was only for micro. They said they extracted the blackheads which on their web site, it says that micro includes black head extraction as well. Talk about a price before you go because after you are done they charge you whatever they want. They weren't even apologetic. They told me to call the boss and tell her to change it on the website!!! I come here to get my nails done and periodically facials. The Manicurist Gosia (not the owner) is fantastic. She had given me a wonderful facial once and always does my manicures/pedicures. Very pleasing and professional. The rest of the staff on the other hand a bunch of snobs, particularly Basia! I don't know what her function there is but her attitude and facial expressions are just nasty. I was getting a treatment there and her attitude towards her colleagues is just disgusting. There is too many bosses in that place and she seems to think shes one one of them. I had asked for coffee, they pored spoiled milk into it and served it to me. i came to Williamsburg Beauty Spa because i recieved one of those spa gift cards that you can use at any participating spa. I chose a microdermabrasion that they were offering a special deal on. Ive never had a microdermabrasion facial before and didnt know what to expect. one of my friends told me id walk out with a face thats alittle red from irritation but once that wears off id be glowing with fresh soft skin..... well my face was no red. and once all the dead skin had flake off my face was back to normal. im not sure if the facialist just did a mediocre job because it was a special deal.I would go back again and try a different service but i would not do that facial there again. However she gave a great face massage and all the lotions and oils she used smelled delicious! So I really had high hopes for this place because there were plenty of positive reviews. I had passed by the shop and there was a spa week deal for an organic facial for $50. I went home to read the reviews and the website info on the organic facial. I arrived a little early and was greeted by Gosha who asked me to sit while my room was prepped. I got all settled in and started to relax as Gosha walked in and in a loud voice asked "What products do you use on your face?" I told her what I used and she asked if there were chemicals in my products, I told her yes they were not all 100% natural. Then she asked if I eat healthy, I told her yes. She said well if you eat healthy then why do you put chemicals on your skin?! This talk went on for awhile about how come my face is red? Have I talked to my doctor about this? she said my skin is too thin to do microdermabrasion etc etc. She talked about how her products were all natural and I should be using all natural products. I thought maybe I would get a break from her lecturing me about these things but even when she finished she told me again I need to go to my doctor and ask why my face is red. She had just finished exfoliating maybe that's why it was red. My face is not normally red. I understand the basic questions when you go for treatments and I'm ok with people talking about her products but this was invasive and really made me uncomfortable. I did not receive a hand massage or hot glove treatment. I really wanted to find a good spa in my neighborhood to get facials but this is not the place. . I have been going to Williamsburg Beauty Spa for my facials for many years and I am disappointed in myself that I have never given them the rave reviews they so rightfully deserve. The salon is very nice, clean, and the staff are all exceptional at what they do. I had my facial with Gosia yesterday and I must say I walked out of the salon glowing. Everything from the facial massage to the extractions and upper body massage were all spot on!. I have also received facials in the past from the other girls in the salon and they were all just as great. I love the Eminence Organic products they use, they are great for those us with sensitive skin, as the line is all natural. I do have somewhat sensitive skin and I have never had a bad reaction or breakout from any of the products. I highly recommend this salon to anyone looking for a great and reasonably priced facial. Gosia had also suggested a new procedure she has started called Micro-needling which is supposed to improve the tone texture of the skin and after a bit more research I would def go back to her to perform the procedure on me. i want soo bad to to give this place 5 stars!!! however after coming home and settling i gotta be honest with myself. I got a Brazilian and underarms waxed PROS- it was very fast, clean and the 3 ladies were very friendly CON- it was too fast!, now 4 hours late im feeling my underarm and down there and there is sooo much little stray hairs :( :( :( . Also it was almost $60! Even-though it is my 2nd time i know enough to know a better job could have been done sigh, this was my second time getting both areas waxed and what i notice is that Barbara didn't tweezers after. I have been coming here since the first week it opened. By far the best pedicure I've ever had nothing rushed like the assembly lines created in other salons in this area. And as for the waxing, this is the only place I come to for a bikini wax. It's clean no double dipping and the technician ALWAYS wear gloves. While service was good, I was very disappointed to hear about a $40 (yes, you read that correctly) minimum on credit card, even though there was no notice posted at the site, and no one told me when I walked in. I don't always carry cash and was directed towards the nearest ATM. I checked, and the credit card minimum could be only up to $10 in New York. I heard really good things about Williamsburg Beauty Spa. so I had to check it out. It was so amazing. The decor was beautiful in every room and the staff was very nice. I had a Organics Eminence Facial and it was one of the best facial I've ever had. I don't normally go out of my way to write reviews for places, but I just wanted others to know about this place.
