Be very very wary of them upcharging here without mentioning price. I very rarely leave negative reviews (feel free to look at my other reviews), and came into this place already expecting them to offer other services I didn't come in for (I had seen cheek, they asked me for nostrils lol), but STILL got charged extra. Didn't expect that they would charge $1 for saying yes to ointment at the end without telling me. Have been to somewhere on the scale of 15-20 eyebrow threading salons and have never once been charged for it before. Services are standard albeit a bit pricey compared to similar nearby places in New York. They are friendly here but the lack of transparency rubbed me the wrong way. read more

I requested a eyebrow threading service . I asked if they had a handheld mirror so that I could show the person providing the service exactly where I wanted her to remove hair . She told me no . I specifically showed her what I wanted , which was for the new growth to be cleaned . She did the complete opposite and took off more Hair than she should have. She took off so much hair that she went past the new growth so much that there is a light spot where she threaded at. The stylist do not listen. I will never go here again. read more

i hate leaving bad reviews but i woke up still feeling unsettled by the attitude and bedside manner of the waxer i saw yesterday on dec 20th. the moment i walked through the door she had a rude attitude and yelled at me to "be quick" in the bathroom. i then told her i had sensitive skin and to be careful and she said "NO you dont have sensitive skin its the way people wax" (i have very fare , sensitive skin). she then yanked my legs open (i was getting a Brazilian). the whole process was just very uncomfortable and she felt very mean and fake. i then asked for a mirror at the end of the procedure and she said "we dont have any" which is a lie because its a salon and she could have gotten one from the front of the store. i went home and there were tons of hair left-over. i used to come here around 2015-2016 and always had a good experience. i decided to come back and wont ever come back again. read more

Was upcharged more than double the agreed upon price. Poor facilities, low quality of service. My lip wax was so poor I will get it waxed again by someone else. Cost $200 for standard waxing that I could have had done for $60 at a place down the street. Likely labor trafficking, all payments under table. read more

Sad to say that I can no longer stand by my initial 5 star review. Most importantly, I've discovered that I break out every time I get my brows threaded here. I assumed that I just have sensitive skin, but I recently tried another threading salon and.... no breakouts! I thought that it might just be a coincidence... so I came back to Unique Shape recently but unfortunately, as I suspected... I'm dealing with breakouts again. I don't know why this is the case, but I'm going to avoid this place for the sake of my skin. Additionally, I have to say that the service has gone downhill. Most recently, my brows were uneven and done in a way that I did not request. I always request that my brows only be cleaned up, because my eyebrows are already thick and dramatic.. so I don't like a dramatic arch. Really quick and easy to get your eyebrows threaded. I just walked in without an appointment and was out within like 10 minutes. The eyebrow threading is now $9, but definitely worth it compared to other prices in the city. Masks are kept on and they sanitize between each person. I didn't have to tell them anything, they just threaded based on existing shape. The lady was also super nice! read more

I'm embarrassed to go outside. The woman who did my brows took out a chunk that makes it look like a bald spot and took no responsibility. I'm not going to be able to get my brows done for at least 2 months cause she messed up so badly. Not to mention they over charge. I've been to places that charge less and do a much better job. went in for my eyebrows. i usually request wax and clean up with threading. i had been growing out my brows for 2 months just because I didn't have time to get them done. i usually go to a spot in manhattan but didn't have time to go that far and i had been here once or twice before last year, NEVER IN MY LIFE HAVE I GOTTEN MY EYEBROWS DESTROYED LIKE THIS. this lady (don't remember her name) not only are both brows extremely uneven but they don't match. and she took off a HUGE chunk off the front of my right brow. I will insert before and after pictures. PLEASE don't go there. I should've specified please don't take off the bases of my eyebrows and start them past my eyes i guess, but it didn't cross my mind that i would have to tell someone not to ruin my eyebrows if this is their professional job. lesson learned. if you want amazing brows check out namaste brows on houston st in the LES. never again will i cheat on them. I've been coming here for nine years now, and I am always satisfied. I tend to like my eyebrows on the thicker side and they always shape them exactly how I want it. They will make suggestions, but in the end will honor what I want. They are very professional and aim to satisfy. They take breaks in between to make sure that I am happy with the direction they're going in and I feel very comfortable having them make any changes, if necessary. read more

I've had better threading in the God-forsaken swamp I live in currently. Really expected Brooklyn to impress me. I think I got stuck with a newbie bc like some other reviewers she wouldn't thread them more to shorten the brows. I guess if there is a complaint on quality, better to go too long than to go too short on the brow. As for ambiance, it is meant to be a sort of fast food type place. Get your brows threaded and get out. Fine by me. I would love a fast service threading salon but not at the expense of cutting on quality. read more

Idk, if cause Im a guy I had this horrible experience here. But I had to endure extreme pain while getting this done. Ive done this 2 other places before and it was not that painful. I have an indentation on the side of my forhead now. Basically a piece of skin was ripped off and will never grow back. Scarred for life. I had this done 3 months ago and ever since then I have to deal with pimples all around my eyebrows and in the middle of my forehead I never had before. They wont go away! There is no meat under the skin around the eyebrows it just skin and bone. So if you get this girl that don't know what the hell they are doing, your face is goin to be f@#$ed up for a really long time. Im still dealing with this problem and its been 3 months already! I have gotten my brows done here multiple times. I do threading and dying and always come out happy. I dont have much brow hair to work with if you know what I mean. And they always listen when I ask them to just shape up and clean the stray hairs from around my brows and to not take too much out from the brow itself. I also went here to attempt lash extensions for my wedding which to be fair I did not know much about. They advised me against it because of my timeline and that they would fall out before the actual day (I was traveling for my wedding) and I am so glad they advised me and spoke to me about it vs. just doing the service for the money. lovely honest ladies working here. *Please note that this is a review of the eyelash extensions only.* In one word: a nightmare. The lady who applied them had clearly no idea of what she was doing. Extremely imprecise application and way too much glue. Couldn't sleep at night. So bad that I was scared to go back there to have them removed. Went to another place and the professional couldn't believe the amount of glue she saw. After over 30 minutes of suffering, I finally got rid of the lashes....also lost my own lashes due to this salon's highly unprofessional practice. To be fair, I'd been there before for threading and was satisfied. A friend tried waxing there and was also happy with their service. Just don't get your eyelashes extensions in this place. Cheap henna tattoos. The lady who did my tattoo had absolutely no artistic inclinations. I asked for a design below my collarbone, which she executed fine, but she ended up adding two side decals that went vertically instead of horizontally. From a designer's POV, it was a poor call, but not as bad as what she did for my friend, who asked for a minimalist arrow-like motif. The henna tattoo for my friend ended up being uneven and just looked stupid. Fast service though - we were in and out within 15 minutes. Relatively clean and the henna they use is good quality - it's herbal, so great for sensitive skin. read more

I was in NYC on a girls trip when we learned that Prince died. One of my girlfriends joked about us getting the "symbol" tattoo's. We quickly yelped henna parlors and found this cute shop. The ladies there were very nice as we sung songs and had an impromptu girls treatment outing. Some got eyebrows and lips threaded and we all got symbol henna tattoo's. The ladies here are very accommodating, warm and responsive. The location is also great for shopping and restaurants. 2 thumbs up! read more
