I've been going to this place for 2 months now (once every 2 weeks for eyebrow threading). My friend has also gone here for brazilian waxes. The service here is wonderful. I'm not too crazy about their facilities, but I care more about having nice looking eyebrows and Unique Shape Threading is king at making my eyebrows and my friend's eyebrows look amazing. Also, whenever my friend and I go here, there's always a line, and the women always respond like my friend and I do ("Perfect!" "This looks amazing!" "I didn't even know my eyebrows could look this good!"). (I even cheated once and went to Thread NYC in midtown (apparently one of the highest ranked threading shops in the city), and they were awful. They made one eyebrow longer than the other, and even accidentally pulled out some hairs from the middle of my right eyebrow so I had a gap there. Unique is definitely better than Thread.) I've had my eyebrows threaded by three different women at Unique and they were all consistently high quality threaders (is that a word?). They all take their time to get every single hair, and they make sure the shape is natural-looking. They are also very quick with the threading, and pleasant to talk to. When I spoke to Rosie (my favorite), she told me that the key to good threading is not just getting a license, but the experience and exposure to lots of different kinds of eyebrows, so that you know what you're dealing with and how to deal with it. That she was able to articulate this to me is another sign that she knows what she's doing. Other eyebrow threaders have not been able to articulate that experience and exposure are necessary for good threaders. Go here for eyebrow threading. You'll definitely be satisfied. read more

It was my 2nd time here getting my eyebrows done and the lady doing my brows bruised/left a red scratch mark on my face (likely from something scraping my face when the thread broke). When I asked her what it was, she lied and said that that wasn't her as there was "no hair there" when I am 100% positive it was not there before I walked into the salon as I just looked at my face when I left to go get my brows done. However, after I began going to Unique Shape Brows Threading Salon Inc. at 201 Bedford Avenue in Brooklyn I don't go anywhere else. The ladies who worked there are very pleasant. I had a brazilian done, on the recommendation of my friend. The aesthetician was quick and it was not too painful. It was Kinda dirty so I probably won't go back. But it was cheap and fine in a pinch. -I would suggest to these ladies, that - it is rude for the person who did the wax job/whatever job, to ask firsthand, if you would like to leave a tip. There should be a system where someone runs the cash register, and they communicate, and the person running your card can ask, OR the option should just come up on a machine, for you to decide. Or, you could be given a receipt with the printing 'it is not required, but appreciated and customary to leave a tip at your discretion' - something like that. Etiquette and manners are really underrated and it makes the New York experience just a bit better. Anyways, yea. Not a terrible price, and I appreciated the quickness/technique was everything so I felt little pain. read more

I have been using Rosie at Unique Shape Threading for two years now, and she is amazing! She always make me feel comfortable, is super efficient, clean and really knows what she is doing. I use her for all my waxing needs, sugaring, threading and eyebrow dying. I just moved and switched jobs - so I lost my usual threading place. It was perfect - it was a block away near the subway I took almost every day.... so I was bewildered. Where was I going to turn for my eyebrow needs? Then I found this spot. The reviews were mixed, so I was weary... but I feel like sometimes non-Indians are focused more on the aesthetics of the salon than the eyebrow. And I'm all focused on my eyebrows! So far I've been to 2 different ladies and have loved them both. They were precise, clean, listened to me, and you could really see them focusing on the shape. One of them seemed a bit crankier than the other - but she did a great job and she thought about each hair. Cuz when I asked her why she left some behind, she had a reason. She didn't argue with me; she was fine with cleaning it up more... but she had a reason. And again, it's right near the subway! So about every 2 weeks when I decide to leave the comfort of my BK life and head into Manhattan after work, I tack on another 15 mins to stop off and get my eyebrows done! read more

I love this place! I'm 14, a first time threader, and the woman made me very comfortable (didn't catch her name). I threaded my eyebrows (just did a clean up) and my upper lip. The whole thing only took about 6-7 minutes, was cheap ($12) and the pain was very minimal. I have a low pain tolerance and I took the threading very well. The redness and soreness went away in about a half hour; it wasn't really a big deal for me. I'll definitely be back! read more

I've being doing waxing here for more than 6 months and I strongly recommend it. The place is clean, the attendants are really nice, the price is reasonable and you don't need to schedule, just show up. Either AVOID this place or PAY IN CASH. I had the same shady service here as Nicole E. (below). I asked for upper lip threading, at $5, and needed to pay with card. I very clearly asked the woman to add $1 tip. I said this twice, after she kept saying, "$2 tip?" and charged $8 (extra credit card fee). She then pretended like she THOUGHT I said "$2." Ummm... the word two sounds NOTHING like one. I instantly knew stepping in and sitting down for threading that this woman was shady, even before all this happened. I had a bad feeling. I went in recently, and once I sat down, the woman kept trying to push me to get additional services in spite of my telling her that no, I only wanted upper lip threading...by asking how long it had been since I had my brows done, that she should "clean them up," telling me I should thread below my lower lip too. Really, lady? When I tell you I only want upper lip threading THREE TIMES, it doesn't mean you should keep pushing. It's not the money that's the issue, it's the fact that at least one of the women working here provides dishonest service. Add to that the fact that she didn't do a thorough job of threading my upper lip (there were noticeable areas of stray hairs). I will not be returning. read more

I have been getting my eyebrows threaded since I was 16 years old. I am now 28 and I have figured out exactly how I like my brows to look. I've moved around the city a bunch in the last few years, so it's been difficult to find someone I truly trust with my brows! The staff at Unique Shape is great; they are attentive and listen to my direction but also do an impeccable job. I always walk out of the salon happy. Not to mention that with your punch card, your 9th eyebrow is free! Their prices are reasonable especially compared to Manhattan prices in excess of $10 just for brows.
