OMG this girl F*%-ed my face up. I have been going to this place about three years and I normally see the older woman who does a good job. However, today it was young girl who screwed my face up. One of the girls messed up my eyebrows so bad and made them uneven. I even asked to remove the arch on my eyebrows and the one thing she left on my face where the arches, she kept nodding and being nonverbal when i would ask for my eyebrows to be done how i wanted so you would expect her to know what she's doing when she barely looks at the inspo pic and nods confirming she understands. Well, I let my brows grow for nothing and it was my own fault for not waiting to go somewhere reputable... Do not make this mistake that going here is good because it's close to home! Literal hackjob; she turned off the AC when I got in (??? It was so humid outside So ... why... would you want your customer to suffer) Made a comment about my sweating lol I showed her the brow shape I wanted, and asked for an initial waxing for shape and then to really clean it up with threading. I've done this at multiple Places because my skin is really sensitive and there's been no problem. She went ahead and just threaded. She got a call in the middle of my brows and then kept... talking on the phone and without looking told me To check my brows. She hasn't gotten off the phone. Just decided to stay on and like I was just a weird nuisance and not a paying customer. What little shape there was? Gone. Brows are now strangely not straight but not curved right. She didn't bother with extraneous Hairs. I could've done this at home, I think to myself. I ask if I might have it cleaned up and she seems super annoyed that I've even asked because she's... On the phone... but also l...why are you on the phone with a customer...? And in the middle of doing the service? She sighs and "cleans" it; I look in the mirror and it is practically the same weird non-shaped shape,just says she can't work anymore because the shape will disappear. To that I ask, what shape???? By the way my brows are not even related anymore; they're strangers at best. You just hacked my brows and on top of it are truly acting like you could give a Shit what I thought. Lmao and then I thought I was paying $9 and the sign is different. Paid $13 and begrudgingly tipped but man... what a rough time. Maybe it was good in the Past? DO NOT HAVE YOUR BROWS WAXED HERE. I hate threading and am a strictly wax-only person. After promising to leave my brows full, the young woman who did my wax BROUGHT OUT A PAIR OF SCISSORS and started hacking at my poor eyebrows. I did not see the scissors come out and did not get a chance to stop her. After this, she pulled out some thread and said she "couldn't do my shape with the wax". No professional waxer has ever said this to me. I asked her to pluck the stray hairs instead, which she did poorly. When I got home I was mortified to see that she butchered my left eye in particular, and I plucked the remaining stray hairs myself. I wanted this place to be good because it is near my house, but I gambled on this place and lost. Learn from my mistake and don't go here for brow waxing. read more

I came in here to get henna done it was only one lady and it was she was so very nice. She wasn't able to freestyle a design on my hand but she was able to show me what she could do and she did it and she charge me a great price for both hands. I will definitely be coming back into weeks to see her as she was very professional, however the design did not show on my hands very well after using lemon and sugar and wrapping my hands. I will not be returning and have already made an appointment with another henna artist for this Friday. I'll definitely review her work as well and let you guys know how she does. read more

I found this place through YELP and I haven't looked back since. I am from Howard Beach, now living in Brooklyn, and needed to find a new eyebrow place. After looking at all of the YELP reviews I had to come check the place out for myself. The first time I was here, Ruby took care of me. She was great, as all of the reviews say. But since then, I haven't seen her! I must come when she is off but no worries for me because GOLDIE has been taking great care of me. I have been coming to Goldie every 2 weeks for my eyebrows and she has been nothing but professional and very sweet. I always flinch when I am getting them done and she will ask if I am ok, always concerned and wanting my experience to be a good one. She has a soft voice which is very relaxing and I like how she sometimes has her music playing because it is relaxing as well. Overall, great place. Awful experience, I'm so upset. I stressed to the novice attendant that I wanted to retain thick brows and even offered to show photos. She just nodded silently and waved the photos away, and didn't stop to show me progress. She didn't listen to my guidance and left me with razor-thin brows. I'm really upset because I'd gone to this place a number of times before but now I have cheap-looking brows that I have to grow out for months because of the attendant's total disregard of my request. I can see from a review below that this is not the first time this happened; if another client had already expressed disappointment with the "new girl," then why is she still around? At this point they can't even blame her if they've gotten complaints and still chose to allow her to face clients given her inexperience and inability to listen to very clear instructions. She didn't even apologize when she saw I was clearly horrified with what she did to my brows, she just stood there and stared. As the previous reviewer said, go at your own risk -- they seem to be using paying clients to train someone who shouldn't be handling this professionally. read more

I've been here a few times and they're pretty on point for threading - and one time I showed up they were celebrating... um... I think the shop's anniversary? Anyway they were giving out free henna tattoos (hi, I'll say yes to anything free)(ok, MOST anything). Mine turned out beautifully, and lasted quite a while in spite of me being a weirdo who washes her hands constantly. The ladies are very friendly, which is a bonus. My only minor issue is the up-sell - I understand that's how business works but I can't imagine many women who just LOVE unsolicited offers to deal with their mustaches. I mean, ladies who rock a mustache would probably not want it removed, and ladies who feel pretty secure in dealing with their own mustaches DO NOT WANT TO BE TOLD THEY HAVE MUSTACHES IN NEED OF HELP. At least I don't, but that's because I've been so paranoid of rocking the Martin Mull* look that I take extreme measures to NOT rock the Martin Mull look, thank you. I mean hey, if you can't read the large signs in the shop and don't know you have a huge mustache that you would rather not have, perhaps this up-sell is awesome for you personally. I have been looking for a really convenient place to get threading and waxing services for a while now. I usually go to threading/waxing salons in Manhattan near my job, but I started to wonder if there were any of these types of salons in my neighborhood. I didn't really know of any places in Ridgewood/Bushwick except perhaps along Myrtle Avenue, but I didn't want to travel that far. Luckily, when I decided to turn to Yelp, I found Awesome Threading Salon, and it turns out that it's only down the street, about 2 blocks away from my apartment. Since the previous reviews were saying that this salon is top-notch for threading and waxing services, I thought, "Hey, why not give it a shot?" It was on the way home, so I popped in and asked for an eyebrow threading and an upper lip wax/threading. One of the ladies, Nikki, started to quickly, cleanly, and painlessly work on the areas. The wax smelled really nice, kind of like cocoa or chocolate. The overall effect of the wax itself was very relaxing, even while knowing that your hairs are being ripped from your face (I recommend it for anyone doing this for their first time). When Nikki was done, she even put a light, cool soothing gel (it smelled like cucumbers and aloe) over my brows and upper lip to ease and smooth out the redness. I don't always give a business a five-star rating, but this place deserves it. The ladies who work at Awesome Threading Salon really do live up to their salon's name, which is more than I can say for other threading salons I've been to in the past. They are friendly, approachable, and are open to hearing customer feedback. Their work is precise and on point. My brows and my upper lip look simply awesome. I'm definitely coming back here with my rewards card for touch-ups in the future, and I'm recommending this place to my sister and my friends. I've been coming to this place for a few months now for a Brazilian wax. You don't need an appointment most of the time, they always have somebody free for you which is perfect, don't need to worry if you are gonna make it on time, just go. They now have organic wax for 45$ and it's nice light blue color, Ruby does it super fast and not painful, takes me like 15 mins to be done. They also give you a little card where you mark your visits and the 10th one is gonna be free, little thing but nice. I wish I had eyebrows so I can do threading there too! Ok first of all let me say if you want your eyebrows tinted or threaded, this place is pretty chill and they do a good job. If you want eyelash extensions, please read further. I had been here on two occasions before my eyelash experience so I thought I had built a pretty decent rapport with Ruby. I told her I wanted single lash extensions and she said she had them and that I should come on in. I did, and after getting my "full set" she told me the price was $100. Firstly, it says on their service menu that they are $35. Secondly, the lashes were cluster lashes, not singles. Thirdly, she did a poor job of placing them so some of them pointed up, some down, and some were glued on in the middle of an eyelash. Lastly, almost all of my lashes (about 15 clusters per eye) that I ended up paying $80 for fell off in 4 days leaving my eyes looking very strange. I wouldn't even be so mad if it hadn't cost me a surprising $45 MORE than what I was expecting to pay, not even including tip, with which I could have gone to an actual professional eyelash salon and bought a proper full set. She literally hustled me, tried to get me back into going to church, and gave me a hug afterwards as if to reassure me that I hadn't just been duped. Needless to say, I will not return. read more

After a terrible eyebrow waxing at an establishment I shall not name, I decided it was time to find a new place. My friends and I have been hopping from different salons, even to the point of scheduling our hangouts according to our eyebrow grooming schedule! Eventually, we got busy and weren't able to coordinate, so I just decided to go on my own. After looking at places on Yelp, I saw a friend's review for this salon and decided I'd check it out. It was only a block away and figured, if they do a mediocre job, I guess I'd just be paying for convenience. To my surprise, the salon exceeded my expectations! I absolutely recommend this salon! The ladies are lovely and are great at their job. I had a full leg and Brazilian wax with organic wax that made it one of the least painful waxes I have ever done!
