I came here a couple of times. The waxes were always painful but she was quick, so I tolerated it but the real reason I'm leaving a review now is due to my last two experiences. Problems: Skin ripped off/burned/scabbed for eyebrows and Brazilian wax, over charges, unsanitary practices & dishonesty My skin burned and ripped off for an eyebrow wax and also burned badly and was in pain after the Brazilian wax. The second to last time I went (picture included) the burn wasn't as bad as you can see. It still scabbed my eyebrows but I thought perhaps it was a fluke, my medication or hormones so I went once more (last time). I mentioned and asked her about her using hard wax or changing products and she said she did not. The last time my eyebrows instantly and painfully burned. I was almost in tears and splashing cold water all over my face. What really turned me off was, although she can be pleasant and nice, she has made rude comments in previous appointments but I let them go as I thought maybe we are just culturally different. This time (the second time she burned me and ripped off skin) and I was in pain, she was unsympathetic, looked at me with disdain with a mean face (as though I was overreacting when you could see my skin torn off) and blamed ME and my skin as being the problem. I was VERY understanding and kind about this and REALLY thought perhaps it was just me..until I read other reviews online. She has had this issue before and is irresponsible and doesn't take accountability and blames others. No cultural differences. She showed she's just not that nice of a person. Furthermore, as a test on myself, later when my hair grew out I had some hard wax at home (just a cheap hard wax brand) and decided to do a test wax to see if possibly my hormones had just changed a lot and my skin was too sensitive. I did this a day before my monthly cycle (when the skin is the VERY most sensitive) and used a cooling gel after just to make sure it was not reacting to wax OR cooling gel. Surprise-- not even HALF the pain waxing with this wax and ZERO burn, skin ripping off or redness. It was NEVER me all along and it was her and her awful products. I have never had something happen like that to me in almost 20 years of waxing. I can accept mistakes but seeing others had the same issue and she is dishonest, doesn't take accountability and is rude is enough for me to leave this review. If anything else happens, I'll edit and update my review. Also, here are some things she needs to improve: A) Her prices.. she shows as charging $35 for a Brazilian and $5 for eyebrows.. $40 total... yet I was always charged $65 (and had no extras).. her pricing list needs to be updated and clear.. it's like she just thinks of what she wants to charge you and charges it B) She re-dips the same stick back into the wax about 20-30 times. How is this sanitary? This means that we are essentially being exposed to dozens of other peoples' germs and bodily byproducts, etc. C) It would be nice if she stepped out of the room to give a person decency to get dressed again. Not the biggest deal but would be a nice touch. All in all, I will not be going back there. I looked up another waxing place with great reviews that describes their wax ingredients and, although a few dollars more, I went there and had a nearly painless Brazilian wax, zero burn and no bumps... just another comparison that (AGAIN) reconfirmed it was never me that was the problem but was her and her practices. Update: It has now been over a week since I had my Brazilian wax done at the new place and I just realized I am still smooth with no painful bumps or flare ups. I got ingrowns after waxing with her all the time and really thought it was just my hair. By day 3-4 it would be bumpy and red. So this all really boils down to bad products and possibly technique but of course she blamed this on me and my hair type. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. read more

I was in search of waxing place where I can get Brazilian wax done for a while. I searched and read most of the reviews and Queens Waxing Center has 5 Stars reviews and all of the reviewers were very happy with the service. Those reviews convinced me enough to take a chance after having bad experiences with other places supposed to be well known and good service. When I contacted Queens Waxing Center, Kris answered the phone right away with very pleasant friendly voice. Made an appointment for next morning. The place is very clean and Kris welcomed me with a smile. I was bit nervous, but Kris made me very comfortable. During the waxing, I was feeling pain, but again Kris was kept talking to me and I was able to focus on our conversation rather than pain. Waxing was done very quickly and well done. I can honestly say I'm going back to Kris in 4 weeks like she recommended and I highly recommend to anyone!!! Kris is the best! Been getting my Brazilian done with her for a while now and she is very quick so that you experience the least pain possible. After my usual place was closed I found this business via the Yelp app. I desperately needed my eyebrows threaded and I was very afraid to try this place out but the Yelp reviews never lie. Stopping in on a late evening, Krishna quickly threaded my eyebrows back to perfection. They were a bit thinner than I requested but I was satisfied, nonetheless. She tried to promote other services to me which I'm not interested in but I did appreciate her kind and friendly service. The establishment is also a very clean and modern space with brightly lit stations for service. There is also a back room for more private services. I just got the BEST Brazilian of my life. The way Kris cleaned me up, I been to salons in Manhattan that take 40 minutes for a brazilian and it took Kris 20 minutes from start to finish. She even tweezed and threaded the hair thats were too small for the wax. Five minutes after getting waxed, it didnt burn or hurt. Does a great job waxing Brazilian and is quick too. However I noticed that she uses the same wax stick through out the whole process. I think this is highly unsanitary. Bacteria is building up and can be easily spread this way. Those wooden sticks are probably 1 cent per stick... Is the cost of stick worth all those germs and bacteria being spread through different people? read more

Came in here today during my lunch break on a whim because it's close to my job. I have a scar going through one of my eyebrows. No one can ever get it right. Ever. I had just given up and been tweezing them a little here and there for the last couple months trying to grow them in. So needless to say I was nervous coming to a new place. KRIS WAS AMAZING !!!! My eyebrows look amazing. They have never ever ever in my life looked this perfect. I am so happy. I have always been self conscious about them so then I try and use makeup to fill them in and I've never mastered that so one day they're great the next they're not. I feel so lucky to have Krishna in my neighborhood! When I started going my eyebrows were all screwed but she fixed them. I don't even have to tell her what kind of design I want because she is so knowledgeable. Now I don't try to tweeze anymore and go back every two weeks for maintenance. Her salon is ultra clean, everything is new and she is beyond friendly and patient. I am current on Accutane so my skin is very, very sensitive. Upon telling her, she changed her methods and started doing it slower so I feel less pain. I always feel I look great when I leave and she always gives me a very soothing eyebrow massage. Kris burned me on 12/24 when I got a brazilian wax done, I have pieces of skin coming off and scabs all over my intimate area. I let her know and she refused to take responsibility first stating that these burns were due to my use of a razor which anyone with any common sense can tell the difference between 2nd and 3rd degree wax burns. After repeatedly refusing to refund me and refusing to give me her business and license number to file a complaint she stated I was not a good person for asking for my money back. Only until I told her I would file a report did she text me she had finalized the refund. After showing her the picture of how terribly she had burned my intinate area and the pieces of my skin were coming off please be careful. I will also be filing complaints with the city and state and she refused to give me her business and license information. Bad business practices especially if Kris cannot even apologize and instead has the audacity to say it was not her who has caused these burns. I cannot upload these pictures but I do not wish this kind of pain on anyone. read more

When I moved to New York from Ireland I was hesitant to try a new waxing salon as I have very sensitive skin. I am SO glad I tried here. Krishna is the most talented and professional business owner I have met to date. My eyebrows have the most perfect shape since coming to Krishna and I now get a Brazilian wax with ease. I recently visited in search for a new wax place. The establishment is a cozy and clean spot. I was greeted by the owner (Krishna I think) and taken back immediately. She worked quickly but didn't rush and was very thorough. Her pricing was also very reasonable. She also made convo and was very friendly. My biggest and only issue is the strip wax doesn't work for me at all. I'm accustomed to hard wax which works extremely well for my hair (curly, thick, grows in all different directions, ugghhh). The hard wax softens my skin and seems to pull the hair directly from the root. I have no pain afterwards and the hair grows back slower. After I left here, miss kitty was in a lot of pain until the following day and Im very bumpy everywhere that I got waxed (stomach and underarm in addition to Brazilian, which is not cute when it's Mr. nasty time . I noticed hair growing back two days later as well as a lot of the hair seemed broken as opposed to being pulled from the root. I still gave higher stars because overall I think this place is great and I would definitely go back if she used hard wax. read more
