The employee greeted me and invited me to sit. She didn't clean the chair or headrest before I sat, which I would've preferred. She was efficient and did a good with my brows, as I only wanted a clean up. After threading, she trimmed with scissors a bit. Threading was $9, which was a very reasonable price. This place is as dirty as they come. I was going to say you get what you pay for here, but after my last visit I realized I've paid the same prize for better. I've gone here for Brazilians & each time it just gets worse no matter how much grace I try to give them. They do not adhere to any hygiene standards. There's cobwebs everywhere, floor is always dirty & you can tell the bed for the Brazilian has never been cleaned. Last time I went I saw the lady dipping the same wooden spatula she used on my skin back in the pot. That's when I decided never again. She was also terrible & not very knowledgeable about waxing, spreading the wax the wrong way/pulling the wrong way. I've been getting waxed for 8 years so this was very noticeable to me. They also try to get you to get the hard wax WITHOUT telling you it is an extra charge. Again she was super rude, when I said I understand Bhumi is not there today, does she still work here? I saw Sika was in walking distance so I checked it out early afternoon on a Saturday. She did a pretty good job. Quick and painless. $9 which isn't too bad. She asked me if I wanted to get anything done like a Brazilian or eyelash extension. I told her I would be interested in lash extensions. She said mink for $100 for 60 pieces. Not too bad. However, i got unlucky today and was seen by "rabina" i believe is her name and the woman who got clay in her head from a facial i think this is the lady you had. She just seems incompetent! Like she's not licensed or she has not a ounce of experience. I came here for a Brazilian and eyebrow . Lord i wish i would've stopped at the Brazilian. I'm almost in tears writing this i have never experience such awful service before. However I'm just a person who feels bad judging people but i wish i had more balls today to express how angry i was which came out later after i seen my eyebrows (please refer to the photo below) Brazilian - was painful!! She does not wax correctly you are to never to keep ripping the same area you just pulled hair from. I'm in so much pain where I'm thinking i should go to the doctor tomorrow. She also double dipped! I've been going to Sika for about 2 years now and I was stoked when I heard they reopened after quarantine (my brows were overdue for some loving). This review is for anyone who might be a little skeptical given the times we're currently in (Covid). Everything in the salon was extremely clean. The staff consistently wore masks the entire time and washed their hands/sanitized in between clients. Aside from the needed health safety measures it felt like any other good trip to the brow salon. I've never had a threader apply aloe gel on my eyebrows before, even at more expensive places. Prices are very reasonable! Note: If the store looks open and the open sign is displayed, the person is inside but not at the front desk (in restroom or helping wax someone, etc) so just ring the doorbell. Threading- TWO cuts under both my left and right eyebrows. Had some threading done on my cheeks- also small cuts left on upper left cheek. Waxing- double dipped which is EXTREMELY unhygienic especially during a pandemic. Was burned with wax and woman scooped it out and applied it right away without giving it a second to cool off/ Extremely sloppy work- both threading and waxing was done harshly and ripped out hair that was NOT supposed to be removed. During threading strains of my actual head hair kept getting pulled out. Left marks, swelling, cuts and burns. Absolutely no care was taken at all. Sloppy work would never go back here or recommend it. They had no idea what they were doing and it is harmful to clients. read more

I had a very negative experience, I've had lashlifts and lash extensions done for about 7 years. Since my lash lift lady passed away i found sika on my first and only time going there i decided to get a cheap $40 lash lift. Ladies you get what you pay for. Since july this has damaged my lashes. I asked her for a medium lash lift. She did not know what i was talking about. I told her its like a C curl when doing extensions. I feel like i had way more knowledge than the lady doing my lash lift and she was teaching someone else. She honestly left the chemicals on my lashes for too long and caused my lashes to be damaged im pretty sure most have fallen out but they are not like my usual lashes. You can tell they are different sizes. This is clearly not even a lift. A lash curler could do a better job. My new lashes having grown on for 2 months are brittle! Avoid. read more

If I could give this place negative stars, I would. I just got a 4 layer facial from them. So Today I came in very skeptical because I was looking for a great facial. Upon entrance, no one was too welcoming. Whatever. Used the bathroom and then got a threading service. Simple enough. Once I asked what facial was recommended for me, Sunita said the 4 layer facial. $80 It wasn't the price I was concerned about as much as them wanting to make a higher sale so I poked and prodded with a few questions. After having those answered, I agreed to get the facial. At first all is well. Small room in a dimly lit area for facials but hey it's Brooklyn. I was initially told this would be 45 mins. Got there at 12:15. Remember that. She goes about the facial, putting on multiple masks, okay. The little things used to keep my hair out of my face, kept unvelcroing and coming off. Therefore, at the end of the facial a ton of clay had gotten into my hair. Sunita proceeds to try and pull the mask out of my hair. Why she didn't ask me to tie my hair back to begin with is beyond me. After about 5 mins of pulling I asked what was going on. She kept doing so. After another few mins of this I asked her to stop. She kept telling me to let her do this. She calls the other girl down who literally looked at me like "oh shit". So she tries to wet the clay and pull this out of my hair. Now I'm mad. $80 and I have a ton of clay in my hair. I ask to speak to the manager. Nothing. Then the owner. Bless the other woman.she felt so bad and truly did all that she could to help while Sunita almost raised her voice to me. The girl told her to leave and so did i. I told her that I couldn't believe it and she told me she didn't know what to say and she was so sorry. Apology accepted but wow was I not happy. Spoke to the owner over the 9hone and all she said was that she needed to hear the other side of the story. I told her that I'd send her pictures of my hair and she asked to speak to the employee. Couldn't have cared less. THEN. my favorite part. While Sunita was trying to rip the clay out of my hair, I asked her if she was a licensed esthetician and she said yes ofcourse. I asked for reassurance. I asked if the license was displayed and she said yes ofcourse. Fast forward to me upstairs, leaving, fuming AT 2:20. I asked if she could show me the license so id have peace of mind. Her response was that she didn't have it on display... And then she was in the process of renewing it... And she had applied... And it ended with her telling me her license has expired 2 weeks prior.................. Cool. 2 + hours and clay in my hair. I definitely did not pay but to the facial seekers, SAVE YOURSELF. PS I just got my hair done and to those who don't know, if you have clay in your hair it makes it feel like hay. Awesome read more

Was able to walk in and get a Brazilian wax on the fly. I happened to call ahead to make sure that they had availability and it was suggested that I come in about an hour, which I did and only had to wait about 10 minutes before I was seen. I believe the technician was Subi and she was lovely! We had good conversation as I am also an esthetician. She apologized repeatedly for my wait time which was nothing. She was super quick and gentle and even though the service cost a tad bit more than what I normally pay in Ridgewood, it was an 8 minute walk from my apartment so I will definitely be back! read more

I came here for a Brazilian wax today and she did a pretty good job, but compared to other waxes I've had in the past WOW it was so painful. I thought she was going to rip my lips off. And the place was cash only, which worked out for me with the tip but I always hate a $3 ATM fee. While I appreciated them accepting me as a walk in and seeing me promptly, due to the relatively high cost ($50) and the overall experience I can only give this place 3 stars. This place opened up really close to my apartment so I decided to try it out. I think they only have one person working at a time, and she sometimes closes the store when she needs to eat or do something else. There's a bathroom and also a nice seating area with some clothes they sell. My sister and I went to get our eyebrows threaded. The lady working that day was Kaya. She was really nice and gentle. My sister's eyebrows look good, but I think mine came out a little crooked. I'm disappointed, but it's not terrible and it'll grow back. read more

i dont suggest u come here for a brazilian or any kind of wax. i am a lightskin girl so my hair is course and i am used to getting sugar waxes but the train wasnt running to where i get my sugar waxes so i decided to try this place. i came in and she immediately took me to the back and told me to get undressed and so i started to but she kept asking if i was done and i didnt even take that long. that was the first red flag. second red flag was the amount of pain i was in, i have never felt this amount of pain before with sugar waxing but i thought just cause it was hard chocolate wax thats why it felt different. a few minutes in she points to a spot down "there" and says "next time clean"...... it was DISCHARGE, we are women so i would think she knew that we cant control when discharge comes from us and i always make sure to bathe right before i get any wax. very unprofessional. close to the end she says that my hair is really thick and hard to take off which i understand but this whole time she has been ripping and ripping at the same spots without giving me a break. i was cleaned up but also very swollen, it soon wore off. u would think after all that i never go back there again but i did yesterday because i was in need of a clean up down there and my sugar wax place was booked up. i hoped this time would be a bit different or maybe someone else was there but i was wrong i go in get undressed and she starts the process. very painful again, this time the pain is close to unbearable. again she is telling me how hard it is to get my hair off and this time adds how no one else but her could probably do this (but my usual wax place never has a problem). at some point near the beginning i tell her the wax is too hot, she tells me its not and its been the same temperature. we end and i pay, extremely swollen and red down there, small peices of wax still stuck to me and very upset about the experience so i tell myself i wont ever go back there today i look down and there is a rough brown burn mark on me. i cant express how upset i am and i urge u to not come here. maybe i experienced this because my hair is curly and thick? but if she thought she couldnt do it she shouldve turned me away the first time. very sad about this. 2 stars because im bald like i wanted. nothing else went right in my opinion. read more

I have been going to sika since it was located across from the greenpoint avenue subway. I am grateful they opened closer to my home . This location is near the b60 bus and the l train. This salon has a nice clean open air boutique feel to it. The owners simi and kaya still operates at the same level of customer service and is very good at eyebrow threading and other services. Just let them know if you feel the wax is too hot or if you feel uncomfortable I got slightly burned on my underarms..i thought it was supposed to be warm. I'll admit, at first I was a little hesitant because of some of the reviews but I'm so glad I gave it a try! I have to say I was very disappointed with my experience at the salon. I was excited about going because it had such great reviews and was right around the corner from my apartment. I went in for a Brazilian wax. The lady who did my wax was very nice, but she kept waxing in the same areas multiple times. I'm also not sure that the wax was even hot enough. Needless to say, when I left the salon I experienced extreme itching and burning. I thought it would go away within a few hours, but it only got worse. When I checked down there I had multiple pumps, discoloration and inflamed skin. It looked like I had a really bad rash. I ended up going to urgent care and getting prescribed some cream to clear it up. When I reached out about a refund, I was told there was a no refund policy, despite being willing to share my urgent care visit summary. I won't be going back here anymore. In response to the owner's response to my comment. After getting my wax on Friday, I waited a day to see if it was just irritation that would go away after a short period of time. When it didn't I reached out to you on Sunday after going to urgent care. You never recommended any over the counter medicine and didn't offer any other suggestions other than, you must have had a bad reaction. I've been getting Brazilian waxes for years now, and this is the first time this has ever happened. If you happily offer refunds, then what was the issue in denying mine when I was willing to come down there and share a copy of my visit to UC? However, the ONLY thing I asked for was to do a light clean up and to make sure to keep them full... After the reviews saying they would hear this and act accordingly... I now have the THINNEST eyebrows I've ever had! Feel like I jumped out of the 90s or something. This place is great ! I came here on a Friday afternoon needing an underarm wax right after work. I've walked by this place many times as it is around the block from my house and finally decided to give it a try. It was quick and the staff was friendly I was attended right as I walked in no wait time needed. They take your temperature, name and phone number upon entering. The rooms for waxing is downstairs and are in small private rooms which I find great for privacy. I got the underarm wax service which was $15. It was painless quick and easy honestly it all took about 5 mins. They are a cash only business so be advised to take cash ahead. Other than that my experience here was great I experienced no irritation or anything after 12 hours after everything seems fine. I've given this place a try twice now because it's close to where I live, and both times were a big let down. The services are always rushed even though there is no one else waiting. The space is not clean. When I get home, I find a bunch of missed spots with hair (with both threading and waxing). It's pretty much a waste of money for very sloppy work. She was also very kind and gracious during the appointment, checking in with me consistently on how I was feeling.
