This is a great neighborhood brow place. Clean. Bright. Prices are comparable to every other place nearby. I had eyebrow threading and tinting (black). My brow hair is fine and spotty in some areas so tinting helps them look filled in without applying brow makeup everyday. $6 for threading - she followed my requests to keep them thick and long (don't take off the tail) with a slight arch. $14 for tint - the process stings a bit at first because the area is sensitive after threading. Takes about 10-15 minutes to set. Alcohol is applied after or you can bring what works for you. If you use a debit card you'll pay more because tax is added. So take cash! Technicians were friendly. I could hear thread scraping against my skin as she removed the hair. I never knew that thread could cut so deep - thread should be listed as a weapon - seriously. The audacity of walking into this place and telling them what I wanted (to clean up my eyebrows) and the lady who did them took a chunk of hair right out the middle of my brow and then told me my eyebrows were like this when I walked in. My brows look horrible. I am beyond annoyed and more annoyed at the fact they were talking in their language amongst one another while I was telling them what they did. The fact they blamed it on me was unprofessional and proves anyone can literally open a business nowadays. I have been to Excellence Salon twice already and I just made my third appointment for a Brazilian wax. Since I have my own personal jar of wax stored at the salon (they give you the option the first time you come in) I feel very confident in the business' attention to cleanliness and professionalism. Selma is just great. She is fast and careful. She assured me that it will hurt less and less every time I wax and she is right! If I go every 4-6 weeks, it barely hurts at all! Just don't go too long between waxings or it's like starting from scratch. She also taught me how to treat and avoid ingrown hairs caused from shaving and tweezing. Only bummer is that they raised their prices to $40 for a brazilian. The threading is still a deal and I will continue to go back to Excellence Salon because they are kind to their customers and very accommodating when it comes to scheduling appointments. Also, there is not a better place to go for a Brazilian in all of Williamsburg. These people are absolute pros. Make sure to tell them if it's your first time and they will walk you through the steps. I can't believe I waited until my thirties to start waxing! I will never, ever, go back to shaving. They offer a numbing spray for those of you that are scared that it will be painful. (Also, it absolutely helps to take 2-3 Advil an hour before your appointment). read more

But I now realize that she did not offer me or apply any witch hazel or alcohol. I only now realize this because my face broke out badly from it. I will take some of the blame, but I would hope that the technician working on my face would remember that if I told them that my face is sensitive. So I give them three stars since I will probably return because of the price and the precision(once my face heals and I no longer look like I have an STD). Went here for threading. The woman who performed my...treatment did take her time with it. She also paused for a good minute in the middle of it to engage in conversation with a co-worker. I can live with this, but Im sure some yelpers would be bothered by it. She, of course, engaged in my very favorite tactic of threading salons to try to shake customers down for more services than they request- preying upon women's insecurities by explicitly insulting the other parts of your face. Except more aggresively than any other threading or waxing salon I've been to. Even after I said "No, Thank you" she said, "But you have to because they're so long." Well. Excuse me, but no I do not Have To. And despite no competition close by, I dont Have To come back here either. I can take the train from Manhattan with red-face if I want to which is what I had been doing and why you've not seen me in here, silly woman. Only problem is that they don't automatically offer clients hand sanitizer before asking them to put their hands on their face to start the threading process. Come here for a quick fix at six bucks! This spot is open till 8pm and cleans up your brows within minutes. No appointment needed just walk in, but might be a little wait or not. Been coming here for more than 5 years and everyone is always so welcoming except this new lady, I never usually allow new people to touch me but it's the holiday I went with it this lady was HORRIBLE and yes she's new! She waxed my upper lip and then put the SAME stick back into the wax! My threading was the most painful ever, I asked her to let up a little and she said if you would hold tighter you wouldn't be hurt just a horrible person! I actually felt her sprint! I went to Excellence for an eyebrow threading and a brazilian wax. My waxing experience was, unfortunately, not good. PROS: The woman who began the wax was friendly enough. She went out of her way to remove ingrown hairs, which I appreciated. I got their sugar wax which seemed to be pretty good for the skin so the pain wasn't as bad as it could have been. CONS: When I was undressed, she kept going in and out of the room and didn't seem to be that careful about minding my privacy. Also, I realized well into the wax that she was double dipping. She had also taken off her gloves at a certain point. That was totally my bad for not being attentive enough to realize this right away. At the beginning, she had applied some sort of liquid to the area to sanitize it, which burned a bit. I couldn't help but wonder if the sanitizer they were using was actually meant for genital areas or not. Or whether the sanitizer was effective enough to warrant her using the same applicator stick the entire time and removing her gloves. The woman who was waxing me seemed to be uncomfortable after a certain point in time, and she seemed to be going over the same areas more than once (more than twice, even). So she said "One second" and let a different woman into the room, who then took over. It made me uncomfortable that she felt the need to tag someone else in/call in reinforcements to get this job done. This new woman was friendly, too, but she kept talking about how my hair was "too thick" as though that were something I could control. After a while, she finished the wax, telling me that this was "all she could do." I was pretty surprised at how difficult this wax seemed for them. I wax regularly and have been for about a year. And it had only been 5 weeks since my last wax. A couple of days later and all of the skin in the area is dried out and flaky. Plus I want to get tested. My eyebrows look great, although I explicitly said not to take off very much hair, as I had been trying to grow my eyebrows out, but they did and my eyebrows are far too thin. read more

Popped into Excellence a few days ago after not having a good "browing" in over two months. I can truly say that it was a wonderful and painless experience. Threading is so much easier than waxing and they don't strip your brow like the nail salons are infamous for. All they leave you with is a clean and natural looking brow and for that they have a customer for life! Don't let the look of the salon fool you. I have had the best waxing experiences here. I have very sensitive skin on my body and I get burned easily, but don't when I come here. The ladies here know what they're doing and somehow getting my Brazilian feels painless. They also do a great job with threading. Henna especially has a light hand. Her and Sheena are the main specialists I go to because I only trust them now with waxing and they also shape my eyebrows shape very well. I have straight brows so it can be challenging to do my eyebrows but whether I want some arch or want to enhance the straight shape, they do a great job. Their practices are hygienic and their prices are very reasonable. I can't speak on lashes and facials because I wouldn't get my lashes and facials done at a "around the corner" threading salon. Another thing I will say is depending on the time you go, your wait will be very long. It's worth it tho. I highly recommend! read more
