At the appt I was very comfortable and we talked a bit about how she started doing henna when she was younger as it is part of her culture. I picked a photo from off her profile and asked to have it recreated. I decided to use jagua (which is till all natural plant but a different substance altogether than henna- jagua is NOT black henna) because I am darker and prefer the jagua stain on my skin color. We did as she instructed and then got a reply back from her saying she's been booked for that time already. When my fiancé reminded her that she had agreed to that date and time she claimed she only takes bookings for bridal appointments. Obviously common sense isn't a strong suit for Riddhi as my fiancé had made it clear this is for her WEDDING! We shared screenshots to make sure she was aware of what she agreed to and her inability to meet her obligations. The fact that she cancelled last minute on a bridal appointment is bad, but a small business owner can't simply flake on her customer at the 11th hour and expect to continue business as usual. Absolutely horrendous behavior but my a business owner without owner and a pathetic excuse of a human being. Own up to your mistake and try to be an honorable person.

My birthday was coming up and I really wanted to get henna done after seeing some really nice…read morepictures on Instagram. After looking through several reviews on Yelp I decided to email Fatema. I was really impressed by the photos other users uploaded. She told me I should get the henna done the day before my birthday so it can look its best on my special day and quoted me a VERY reasonable price. Fatema is amazing! She's super fast, informative and sweet. She did my design in less than 10 minutes and explained to me how henna works. Apparently your body temperature has a lot to do with the final result. She made me put on my coat and (tons) of layers before she started. And when she was done, she put lemon juice all over it so it can come out bright orange. Fatema even let me sit in her home for nearly 20 minutes to let the paste dry -- and offered me grapes! Definitely going back to her again and I've already recommended her to a friend of mine who's marrying a Guyanese man in the near future.

The stain darkened progressively and I think it reached its darkest by the day of the wedding. It's been 2 weeks and it STILL hasn't faded completely. Her henna (which she makes herself!) Is GOOD STUFF!! ALL NATURAL TOO! She was a pleasure to chat with while she worked and allowed me to stay in her home while I waited for my husband who was stuck in traffic.
