I was really impressed by the photos other users uploaded. She told me I should get the henna done the day before my birthday so it can look its best on my special day and quoted me a VERY reasonable price. Fatema is amazing! She's super fast, informative and sweet. She did my design in less than 10 minutes and explained to me how henna works. Apparently your body temperature has a lot to do with the final result. She made me put on my coat and (tons) of layers before she started. And when she was done, she put lemon juice all over it so it can come out bright orange. Fatema even let me sit in her home for nearly 20 minutes to let the paste dry -- and offered me grapes! Definitely going back to her again and I've already recommended her to a friend of mine who's marrying a Guyanese man in the near future.

Farzana did such an AMAZING job on my bridal henna! I did my henna on a Friday and my wedding was…read moreon Monday. I was worried it would fade by then but it was actually perfect timing. The stain darkened progressively and I think it reached its darkest by the day of the wedding. It's been 2 weeks and it STILL hasn't faded completely. Her henna (which she makes herself!) Is GOOD STUFF!! ALL NATURAL TOO! She was a pleasure to chat with while she worked and allowed me to stay in her home while I waited for my husband who was stuck in traffic. I was thoroughly satisfied and HIGHLY recommend her!

Henna was really intimidating to me -- I was so afraid of smudging the design or not liking the finished look. Like, I bought back-up white gloves just in case. Mangala really helped set my mind at ease through email before the appointment and I gave her some pics of designs I liked. Meeting her at Jivamuktea Cafe, I was 100% confident in her artistry. She freehanded a gorgeous design! And taped it up extra secure for me, especially since it's winter -- which involved many layers of coats, etc. I kept my hands taped up for about 12 hours (overnight) and voila! I had a pretty much perfect stain that deepened to a dark burgundy for my wedding day. Her price was more than fair and her work on my hands got me so many compliments and much respect from my Punjabi husband (who romantically had to feed me dinner while my hands were taped up. Daw.) Also: her henna smells heavenly and I kept sniffing my hands like a weirdo when I got home. But what I really loved about Mangala was our conversation. The appointment was supposed to be 2 hours but took 4! That was exhausting for both of us. I definitely dozed in my chair towards the end. Heh. It's not always easy to make conversation with a stranger, but over the course of the appointment, we chatted about marriage, L.A., death, and goth music. It was truly a wonderful experience all around and I look forward to trying henna with her again. Maybe I'll get her to sneak a tiny skull into my design somewhere. Ha! She's a true artist and a total professional.

I went to another threading place and they ruined mg eyebrows. I waited a month for them to grow back and came here, explained what happened, and this woman was able to clean and shape them to exactly what I had expected. We called a day ahead asking whether we need to make an appointment for henna. The lady on the phone said no, just come in. So we went in the next day, there was only one woman there. We asked her for designs from their google and Yelp photos. She said that's too complicated. She called someone, not sure what was said and then says she can only do something simple. We would've left but my niece was so excited about her first henna. We showed her a very simple design of flowers (please see the photos of my niece's hands, she could've done that herself and she's six). She then "gave us a discount" by only charging us $30 for both hands. I didn't want to make a scene because I didn't want to make my niece cry, so we paid it. Never again. Beware of this scam. Edited: While I appreciate your offer we are going to decline. And with all due respect, that design had nothing to do with a 6 year old moving. I suggest moving forward you indicate on your website that you are by appointment only, and perhaps let your coworkers know that as well so they can answer questions appropriately and not wait people's time. Be sure to include the days of the week too, since we came today which is actually a Monday and not Sunday. Finally, please tell that lady to just say no to henna requests, no one else needs to suffer.
