When we were seated, the typical ritual happens: we are served glasses of water and asked if you would like anything else to drink. We were also served toast and butter. Getting the waiter's attention was a little bit of a hassle. Although the place was busy, there were times when our waiter was just standing in a spot staring into space. The food is great. I got the Classic Fettucine Alfredo with chicken and shrimp. The chicken and shrimp costed an extra $4 and $6 respectively, but I think it makes the meal taste a lot better. It's very dark and dim inside the restaurant so I had trouble reading the menu. The waiter was very friendly and attentive. Our orders were put in right away. My boyfriend and I each got a burger. It's dinner intermission for the Hammer of Trinity---the longest play I have ever witnessed---at the Adrian Arsht and Primo's was a short walk. Nicole and I seated ourselves at the bar and went straight for two appetizers. First, the truffle fries; and second the sausage in marinara. I would say the truffle fries were ordinary fries with a bit of parm on top---the infusion of the truffle oil was sparse and as such the flavor was not emphasized enough. However, the sausage in marinara was a hit and this being an Italian restaurant I give high marks. The bar tend was also attentive. We walked around the hotel to the other side where a Jewish wedding was happening. Also pretty cool seeing the marina of boats and where you can rent jet skis and go jet boarding which I've never tried, but I digress. Again for a quick fix, try their marinara sauce on anything. This was a lovely find in the lobby area for the Doubletree. I read the Yelp reviews and it sounded worth a shot and super happy that I did. I was travelling alone on business - it was a Monday night so not that busy but with enough people to give the place a nice vibe, but not too noisy. I usually sit at the bar when travelling alone but it was full - another good sign! The service was attentive, pleasant and not pushy. I started with the Calamari and then had the Frutti Di mare for main, both were really nice with good quantity of seafood and pasta. My only complaint was how quickly they served my main immediately after I had finished my starter... I like to have some time between courses! But I've noticed this happens a lot at US restaurants and you need to remember to ask your server to not rush the 2nd course! Followed the previous reviews and got the meatball appetizer and sausage/pepper appetizer on consecutive nights while there on business. The reviews were right on. Huge portions for apps; enough for 2 as a hearty appetizer or a meal. The meatballs-picture attached -- are served with wonderful homemade grilled bread. They are nearly the size of a tennis ball and moist. Maybe just a tad bit much filler but lusciously served with a big drop of ricotta and basil on top of each. You get three. They are correctly labeled as "famous meatballs." The sausage is Italian and you probably get 10-12 ounces I'm guessing. It's cooked just right and very flavorful. The red and yellow pepper chunks could stand to be cooked a little longer. The marinara that comes with it has been used to cook the sausage and peppers, hence a wonderful flavor. Kalamata olives and small porcini peppers are included also. Again enough for two as a hearty app or for 1 as a main. I'll be back. read more

We heard some good things about it and decided to give it a try. My wife ordered the Chef Special, Angel Hair Pasta with Shrimp and Olive oil. It was pretty tasty and she seemed to like it. While I on the other hand just went simple and ordered the Classic Pepperoni Pizza, which was yet simple and classic but very very delicious. A must get if you're in the mood for pizza. Primo's God it feels good to be home! I stopped by after work this evening, I was starving and was to tired to start cooking. As per usual I was greeted by the owner Rico and the staff, always friendly and accommodating. I ordered the meatball salad, I wanted that almost impossible combination of deliciousness, indulgence and healthy, not easy. The homemade meatballs, bathed in the perfect marinara sauce topped with a spoonful of ricotta are quite simply unforgettable, it amazes me that every time I bring friends here for dinner, they call me months later to order big orders of the meatballs for parties, boat trips or family dinners. Great find in Miami, started with happy hour drinks at the bar, buy one get one free on all wine and beer selections, a good deal which ends at 7PM. The four of us moved to the dining room, ordered meatball appetizer which came with toasted Italian bread, it was delicious. Then ordered Bucatini, Lobster Ravioli and Linguine with clams. All pasta dishes were cooked perfectly and sauces were authentic Italian. Service was good, nothing to complain about. If you are staying at the Doubletree Hotel or are near this restaurant, give it a try it's worth a visit. Menu pricing is affordable and reasonable for a Miami location. The best thing about this place is the locals who frequent it. I hand an unexpected pleasure dining and drinking here while on a business trip. The service at the bar was great and the lasagne was very good. But the atmosphere with friendly bartenders and even friendlier locals made my visit exceptional. Prices are typical upscale Miami. This was my first and last time going to this restaurant. We were seated right away and given water and bread while we look over the menu. We waited for more than 15 min and finally the hostess came over to ask if we had ordered. We said no and he took our order. After the host took our order the waiter in that section still never acknowledged us. He waited on everyone else that was seated in his section before us but never once came to our table. After the host brought out our food he pretty much was doing his job and the waiters and it wasn't even busy. The waiter never gave us eye contact like he was avoiding us intentionally then bumped my shoulder as he was walking past and never said excuses me or anything. If you live anywhere near the Edgewater area and want a no-fuss, low-key Italian restaurant where you can walk in wearing shorts or whatever it is you have on, Primo's might be the solid option that you seek. What sets it apart from other restaurants in the area? The fact it is open until 1 a.m. daily, and you know how hard it can be to find a spot that is open late, unless you include fast food! Primo's is located in the lobby of the Doubletree Grand hotel and residences, and is a small, cozy restaurant, with 15 tables and a full bar. As a result, you may have to stomach the drunks, who can be somewhat obnoxious, and since it is such a small space with poor acoustics, it doesn't take much for the place to get extremely loud. By the way, they are a part of the Primo chain of restaurants, which includes Tacocraft, Rok:Brgr, and the Himmarshee Public House, so you know you're in good hands. The menu offers traditional Italian favorites with American options as well. You will find anything from the obvious, like pasta, risotto and pizza, to seafood, burgers, sandwiches, poultry, or salads. The pasta is homemade, and they offer the option of whole wheat or gluten free, which is nice. The place is dimly light and somewhat dark, which is great, especially if your eyes are already tired from a full day of work. I ordered a Primo's chicken, as I was trying to lay off the carbs, and this was a good option as it came with zucchini and porcini mushrooms, and the chicken breast was sauteed. The portion was a reasonable size -- not filling but satisfying. My friend got the rigatoni Bolognese and that was huge! It seems their pasta portions are a lot bigger than the other menu options. In the past, I used to come here quite often, as I did not live too far. I have ordered the chicken parmigiana, which had a lot of pasta, and also the chicken marsala, which was a more reasonable portion sans pasta. If you're very hungry and not on a diet, then by all means order the pasta, and get your bang for your buck. Dessert, from what I remember, is delicious. Again, if you're not on a diet, take advantage. Some of the menu items are a bit pricey, but perhaps the quality of the food can be to blame, or perhaps it's just the fact that it's such a convenient spot for those staying in the hotel, many of which are foreigners, or condo residents within the area, and they know that. Service is somewhat slow, especially if you're hungry, and can at times be neglectful, with the waiter passing by the vicinity of your table without bothering to take your order or provide drink refills. If they would improve on that, I'd say this place is worthy of a 3.5 star rating. read more
