I had already taken a bite before I noticed it. I'm attaching a photo because this isn't simply a matter of not liking the food or receiving the wrong order. Raw chicken is a legitimate food-safety concern. I understand restaurants can make mistakes, but chicken needs to be cooked thoroughly and there should be safeguards in place to make sure something like this does not reach a customer. I have my receipt and photos documenting what I received, and I am also submitting a formal complaint to management/corporate. Please check your chicken carefully if ordering from this location. I sincerely hope management investigates what happened and reviews their cooking temperatures and food-safety procedures so this does not happen to someone else. One star is too many. I will absolutely never order from Primo again, which is a shame since they just recently opened up by me and have several vegetarian options which are usually hard to find. First issue: I tried 3 times to place an order for 4 items on their site for delivery. Each time when I got to the end to check out there was an error and they emptied my cart, and it said I had to start over. That's 4 custom items.. very annoying to have to enter that many times. Second issue: I called the store to place the order over the phone and they told me I couldn't, they said they knew they were having issues with their site but couldn't help. So were they just losing a whole days worth of orders then since there's no way to put an order in otherwise?? They told me to place an order straight through Door Dash but I don't have an account, that was the only suggestion they could give me. I hang up and decide to see if I can place an order for pickup. I add one sandwich to my cart and it works all the way up to the checkout page, so I go ahead and add the rest of the custom order.. and again I get to the end and the same error pops up and my cart is empty. My coworker says he'll try it on his Door Dash account, fine, I was just trying to avoid involving anyone else. He successfully places the order. Third issue: The order arrives and every single item is missing all the toppings and dressings, even the toppings that are supposed to come standard. I call them again to let them know and this time there's no answer, why am I not surprised? This is the most miserable lunch we've ever had.. my sandwich is just cheese on bread. It's dry as anything without lettuce tomato onion or oil and vinegar. The bowl is literally just a bowl of meat with nothing else. What a disaster!! Never ever again, at this rate I'm sure they'll be out of business in no time and honestly I hope they are. read more

I came by most recently yesterday (a Sunday) in the mid-afternoon with two of my top-tier chums for a post-movie late lunch. As an aside, Sunday afternoon to me is pretty much dictionary definition Italian dinner so I would expect Popolari's best for that. I hope for their sake that's not what we got. This is a bit of an odd spot for a restaurant. This area of Little Falls is unrecognizable compared to a few years ago, and it's not really a walkable area - the downtown area is probably 15-20 minutes away by foot, and Popolari is undoubtedly benefiting primarily from the insane number of condos/townhouses that have cropped up across the street (which is making day-to-day traffic a nightmare, but that's not their fault - that's probably on Mayor Damiano and his aggressive building up of the town without doing the same for the basic infrastructure surrounding it). The parking situation here is pretty rough - there's literally four spots out front with seating for significantly more than that inside, so I would imagine most people are either foregoing sit-down and getting takeout, or just parking on the street within the block or so. Pretty cozy spot. I'm not trying to be insulting, but in a lot of ways this felt like a by-the-slice, calzones, etc. type of pizza place masquerading as a bougie Montclair Italian restaurant. It has an Italian car propped outside and some cool Euro 60s shizzle on the walls. It was pretty empty when we showed up and we had our pick of spacious booths to the side. My one chum who came with me both times commented that it feels more comfortable at night, which I would agree with. I opted for the Vodka Chicken Parm on the lunch specials menu (one of my fave dishes/specialty pizzas). It was just okay. Not particularly flavorful and it was clearly reheated like a slice of pizza would be, so the high temp overwhelmed the profile, which was a shame. I had some pasta left over and just didn't waste the calories on it. Worse than that though was the Creme Brulee I had for dessert. Honestly the worst I've had. From what I tasted, it was literally just Jell-O pudding (and it might have been the off-brand of that) with a very thick, cheap sugar layer on top. The temperature of the pudding (this was not the custard it should have been, for sure) varied dramatically bite to bite; it should have been cool but parts of it were randomly hot presumably from inexperienced sugar torching. I'm very surprised an Italian restaurant would push out a substandard product like that. The service was friendly but also not the best. Our waiter (we had the same one both times) was very nice and knowledgeable about the menu. But - and this to me is likely on management more than him specifically - he didn't know to bring our food out at the same time, which is pretty much hospitality 101. This happened during both visits, where someone got their food and then awkwardly waited between five to 10 minutes for the other plates to arrive. And within this one specific meal, it happened for both the entrees and the desserts. It's a shame. The price point to me is pretty competitive, and it's a convenient location for me. But when the service and the food just aren't very good, it's tough to justify giving this place another shot. I have to assume the original Bloomfield location is significantly better.
