First time visiting this location (I have anxiety going to new grocery stores) after needing a break from the Lincoln park location. It's large, lots of parking clean and organized. I feel like there's more variety here than other stores. I would like to see more self checkout options but I'm happy the employees I did come into contact with were friendly and helpful. read more

If you love trying to push shopping carts that feel like they have square wheels, and sound like a clickety-clack freight train, then you'll love the Inserra ShopRite of Wayne Hills Mall in Wayne, NJ. An extensive investigation by our shopping cart forensic team has revealed that the "square wheel" situation is largely limited to the single wheel on each shopping cart that has a radio frequency activated brake, designed to lock up the wheel if you attempt to leave the store without paying for your groceries. The rubber tread on these locking wheels is falling apart, causing the issue (see photos), and the damaged wheels are not being replaced with new ones. And while we're on the subject, why can't the employees that collect the carts in the parking lot remove the trash that customers leave in the carts? The only explanation we've come up with is that as long as they are making money hand over fist, management just doesn't care about the customer experience. And complaining to the "customer service" desk gets you little more than a shrug, and a suggestion to call their corporate phone number. Truly disgusting. read more

I swear there is not one competent employee in this place. Whether ordering at the deli or at the fish counter I always feel like I'm on candid camera and the workers are purposely being as slow and as rude as possible. They will literally ask what you want 5 times, take 20 minutes to do one thing and still forget and bring it back wrong. First off, the store is immaculate! It's spacious, it's well stocked! The issue seems to be the hired help. Granted that I am basing this review about my Sunday visits to shop - but this has been going on three Sundays in a row. I have approached a total of six employees over the course of three Sundays and none of them were able to answer where a certain product that was on sale was located. One of them directed me to ask customer service cause "they have all the answers". The biggest pet peeve is the amount of waiting time for the deli and their professionalism. There's a short lady that seems hard of hearing, another gentlemen who when I added another item to my ordering listing, looked down in frustration. The only person that looked like he was energetic was a young man with long hair. Very helpful! The rest of the staff was not good at all. The deli department at the Shoprite in Little Falls, NJ is on the ball and moving! All of their product list screens are working and functional. There is always one monitor that's out at the deli department in Wayne and for a new store, that's terrible. If this Shoprite were to hire people that really wanted to work there, instead of just getting a paycheck, this store would be tops in the region very quickly. I moved to Haledon a couple of weeks ago - I am going back to shop at the Little Falls location. This new look Shoprite in Wayne is just not good. read more

I come here all the time for all my grocery needs. This location, compared to others is just average. It's open till midnight, and there's plenty of parking in front. The shoprites I'm used to are a bit bigger and offer more, such as hot/fresh foods. For a town as big as Wayne this shoprite should be nothing less. I often come here and see empty shelves, boxes and inventory carts blocked stocked items. It can be messy at times. I hear they might move this location soon where the Wayne Mall used to be. If this is true perhaps it will be a bit larger and gain a better rep. read more

For the excessive amount of pallets that they just drop in the middle of the aisle, they have a ridiculous amount of out-of-stocks every week. This is probably the most disgusting supermarket I've ever been to. From entering through the doors, the floors are filthy There's probably dirt on the floors from 30 years ago. What kind of place makes you put a quarter in to get a shopping chart? The people at the bakery department are nice. That is the only positive thing I can say about it. The produce is either freezer burnt or too under ripe. Everything that is on sale is gone. The seafood looks like it's been there since a week ago. This store is extremely disappointing as compared to the Lincoln Park location 15 minutes away. The staff at the Wayne location must be trained on how to give zero customer service and no engagement or how not to smile vocational training. It seems they all must each get a performance bonus for never smiling or being happy and making sure the store feels dingy. Every time I come which is rare I leave the store aggregated asking myself why did I do it again. I am a Wayne resident and why I will travel exclusively to the Lincoln Park Shoprite where the store is spotless and well lit, the staff is happy and smiling, and you actually see a supervisor above the age of 16 on the floor unlike the Wayne location. REFUSAL OF SERVICE!!! To make it short I have a cart that is full as the counters are busy I saw a vacant one I went in and the cashier told me its an express lane (20 items and below) so i backed up and went to another counter up to my suprise as I am paying I saw the lady having a customer with items over 20! I came and told her to stick up to her words and she is like blah blah blah shouting to me from her lane to my lane that I CAN TALK TO THE MANAGER! The deli section is a major major problem! I have had multiple issues with the servers and there lack of! First of all it seems they all hate there job. Second they can care less if you are standing there waiting to order. I actually saw a worker take meat that he was slicing and put his fingers in his mouth and ate a piece. And then he sucked his fingers. Then he finishes what he was slicing bagged it up and put in the section they have it prepared for customers that rather not wait on the numbers to be called! And most of the people who wear hats grab there hats with the same gloves they use to handle the meats or cheese when they are cutting.! Just totally disgusting! 3 people waiting to order I was one of 3. There was 5 workers in the back and only one of the 3 people was being attended to. 2 bullshitten and talking the other 2 doing something but gods know. One even scream out loud I'm on my break! Really! Then go. Don't stand there! I have going here for 9 years! And This section has went down hill the past 2 years! To the point that I travel to other locations to grab my deli meats and cheese! And on another note if your looking for organic produce don't waste your time! There section is pitiful! The store itself is ok but I do have some complaints. (1) There are products that I buy, that are still available in other stores, that are no longer available at ShopRite and I can't get answers about it. (2) Several of the young cashiers are totally unengaged and unprofessional. They are busy sneaking looks at their telephones and eating. They are not friendly. (3) I shop on Saturday afternoons and have noticed not less than 3 times that someone smokes pot in the parking lot on Saturdays. I don't understand why it had such negative reviews we came here 15 minutes before closing I was so thankful that it was open until midnight to be quite honest with you and I don't know anything about the deli meats or seafood sections but what I needed to get was all there and of course getting there late night was a lot of boxes but the employees seem to all be very friendly Even when one of the women told us that the registers were closing down she was very friendly about it and so was our cashier I don't see why anybody would really have a problem with this location they pretty much had everything that you need I didn't get to check out their bakery before fresh items because I really like to read the ShopRite on their bakeries because they're all different and some of them are better than others but from what I saw this was a really cool ShopRite read more

This is one of the filthiest stores. Produce is awful and there isn't one person who works there that acts like they like their job. They never have sale items stocked , everything is on pallets at the end of isles. And why must you always have to have a quarter for a shopping cart that half the time can't even get unlocked? I can't stand this Shop Rite for so many reasons. First, you have to put a quarter into the shopping cart before you can take it into the store. You usually get it back when you leave, but the last time I did this it was stuck in there and I didn't get it back. Inside the store it is dark and dreary. It creeps me out. The last time I was there I was in there for a long time and the music they were playing kept skipping the entire time. There was also this high pitched screeching sound that made me feel like I was going insane. The food selection is not good. It's disorganized and they are lacking a lot of things that most shop rites have. It seems more expensive too. I got one tomato for $3.88 and the cashier actually asked me if I wanted to put it back because he couldn't believe how much it was. Oh and I wanted to get a happy birthday balloon so I picked one that was already blown up. It had no price but when I paid for it, it was $12.99. Then when I walked outside the thing came unraveled from the string and flew into the air and disappeared. Also, they don't bag your items and there is no SR Liquors attached. This is the third time we are complaining about this store. For the last 3 times the ground beef that we're buying from this place smells and tastes awful. The first one was not even beef, I am 100% sure that that one was not beef, it was ground pork but on the label it looked like beef. This time the entire meat smelled like liver and not quality beef. I will not be buying any meat from this store, I previously called and told them my complaint and they told they would look into it and they were sure of their meat. Even though we live 5 minutes away we no longer shop here, all the departments are a joke, shelves are always empty and employees no where to be found. Visiting a grocery store in a different place is always a bit daunting because you don't know what you'll expect inside, but generally you'll expect SOME sense of order, right? Not here! First of all, walking in the door puts you almost right in the middle of the store and you don't know whether you should go left or right. All the aisles seemed very disorganized and the signs above each aisle telling you what was in each one didn't seem very accurate. The store is dimly lit and just *feels* kind of dirty overall. Most of the employees seemed very inattentive and disinterested. The sushi was pretty good though. I'll give them two stars for that. read more
