We really enjoyed the store and are looking forward to going back. As soon as you walk in your greeted by the smell of baked fresh bread and pretzels, which is my weak spot, give me all the carbs.! We were able to find some really unique items from Germany. There was some really good fines. Some we weren't thrilled with, but I have to say the crushed potato seasoning is so good. You can put it on fish. It really gives a great flavor and texture. I also really liked the almond stuffed green olives . This is a place. A lot of the produce was overripe. The strawberries had noticeable mold. The produce refrigerator shelves look filthy, as if they are never cleaned properly. Didn't buy any of that. The staff was friendly but definitely understaffed. The eggs and milk were a good price. The line was tremendously long with only one register open. Not quite a disaster of a store but I'll be avoiding it from now on. It all comes down to poor management. Often produce is moldy and rotting on shelves. Refrigeration here is not appropriate. Perishables from here don't last at all. Most glaringly, the manager, Mirabel, has a nasty attitude. Today she was especially rude when my Lidl app wouldn't work. Obviously, you don't respect me, a customer, and it's reciprocated: I will take my $300/week grocery budget elsewhere. read more

When they first opened they had more deals than now. I would never do my complete food shopping there, although some people do. There is a hodgepodge of non food items, some are reasonably priced good finds. I snagged a set of solid plastic cutlery in a case for $1.99. Good for my car glove box. They also have have fantastic baked breads and other baked goods at reasonable prices. One niche item, that many other stores don't have, is buttermilk at $1.99 qt. One negative is , with all the workers they have, none seem to volunteer to help customers. It's similar to sitting in a restaurant and the wait staff seems to avoid eye contact so you can ask for sugar and cream for your coffee. read more

This place isn't great. First off it's a disaster. You never know what the heck's going to be on the shelves and many of them are empty. They have one register open and a long, long line. The register aisle is very thin. I go in there looking for something I can't find it so I'm going to leave. Either I'm pushing people out of the way to leave through the one register that's open, or I'm climbing underneath or over barriers they have in the lanes that are closed. You can't leave through the entrance unless somebody triggers the door from the outside. It's a dump. read more

First time visiting this Lidl location. The store is large, which allows for more products in comparison to some other Lidl locations. My SO and I were able to find lots of new goodies to try and the checkout service was great. Overall, the store is clean, well-organized, and definitely worth returning to. read more

How do you have 1 cashier open with 9 people with full carts on a line so long nobody even knows where the line starts?

Lidl supermarket has recently opened in Pompton Lakes. I am a home cook but unfortunately, I often need to travel and do not get the opportunity. As a home cook, I find recipes on the Food Network website but than you have to go out and find the ingredients. That brings me to my visit to Lidl supermarket. The market is a good size store but not as large as the Whole Foods in Morria Plains or my go to place Shop-Rite on Route 46 in Parsippany. Lidl, I found has really good prices on selected items. Check-out their online site for weekly advertisements. Ground beef, 98% lean, was $3.29 a lb., avocados were 69 cents each and Perdue Harcestland fresh organic chicken sold for $2.29 a lb.. I also bought a 12 pack of Yuengling lagar for $10.98, a competive price. Daily baked goods, local farm goods, weekly sales items and international products will keep me checking their online advertising. Oh yeah, I bought the 12 pack of hot Italian sausages. The supermarket is in a strip mall so parking is plentiful. read more

Probably the best grocery store/brand in NJ. 1) I am a huge fan of Trader Joe's, but German brands like Lidl and Aldi are giving a stiff competition to American brands of the same category. 2) Their German chocolates and cookies are top notch, bar none. 3) I also like their baked goods. 4) They also have very affordable ethnic frozen food items, like Indian butter chicken and chana masala. read more

This was my first visit to any Lidl store. It was a Saturday at 3:30pm. My observations are based the on brand itself rather than any comparison to any other Lidl store. Selection is limited, so much so that I didn't find half the items on my list (products not specific brands.) It gave off a flea market vibe, not only for the food but for the actual random flea market items in bins. I enjoyed A&P's Food Basics when it was around which had the same concept but better choices. I prefer Costco and Sam's Club where I can buy in bulk. Lidl seems the opposite of that. The poor cashier didn't look very thrilled since the employee was the only one working. read more

I loved lidl when I lived in Germany but not everything translates well in the American stores. The bakery department here is great, delicious pretzel rolls. The produce looks sketchy and sad, and I never buy meat from here or aldi. The store has a lot to choose from but the giant trash cans collecting water from the leaky roof kind of turned me off from shopping here. read more

I've waited a while to rate Lidl. Been to this location 30+ times. Prices are great and they offer products I'm looking for like grass feed meats, organic foods, and gulf shrimp. Their bakery is priced great and higher quality than most bakeries. read more

Mixed feelings. The plant was cheap but the leaves fell off fast and it died. I would have paid more elsewhere, but the plant would have been fresher. I have bought strawberries and raspberries there 3 times. All 3 times they molded in a few days - again cheaper here but had I bought them elsewhere they would have lasted. Everything else I bought there is good. I like the salmon selection and the cold cuts from the deli were good. I will shop here but won't buy fruit here now. read more

Past two visits here were fine, even though the checkout lines are crazy long and their parking lot setup leaves something to be desired. This afternoon was my last visit due to the rude cashier I had the displeasure of dealing with. I joined the checkout line where there were two other customers in front of me. I placed all of the items out of my cart onto the conveyer belt. AFTER I finished putting all the items down, the cashier decides to tell me that she's closed and I have to go somewhere else. I asked why she's telling me this after I took everything out of the cart? She replied that I should have noticed her light was out. Meanwhile there was a line building up behind me and she didn't say a word to them either. They weren't happy. I won't be returning due to the obviously poor training of the associates here. Hey, so starting this off with the disclaimer I'm in a pretty good mood. We walked in here for the first time ever today, we wanted to explore it for fun. The first thing that caught our eye was the bakery, it looked very appealing (and it was right at the entrance to the store). We got two jelly donuts, a chocolate croissant, and an apple turnover. In order of goodness, it was (1) Apple turnover - 4 , (2) Chocolate Croissant - 3 , (3) Jelly Donut - 2 . The jelly donut was the worst. There was not a lot of jelly and it did not taste very good. But besides that, the store was fun. Everything is in boxes, that was different ‍. I think we would go back! read more

I really like this store chain and have going there once a week since they opened. Today the store was a mess, Product on the floor, frozen food cases empty, almost nobody stocking shelves like every time I have been there. The deli case was empty of the precut cold cuts.. I understand the supply chain issues but stop and shops shelves were pretty full. There is usually a manager in the store running things but he was nowhere in sight today. If this is the new norm I guess I'll have to find another location. The one person stocking shelves blocked the entire isle. read more
