The yogurts I bought last week were expired - sadly I checked the date after I opened one at home and it was clearly spoiled upon looking at it. I don't mind paying a bit more for the convenience of this market but not at the cost of buying food that has expired.

This supermarket has everything you'd expect from a supermarket except better! I'll give them 4 out of 5 stars because they can improve on sustainable products and I'm disappointed that the hot food is no longer 1/2 price after 7. The grocery store is always kept clean and the employees are always efficient and courteous. The help desk is very helpful when it comes to returns and may special order items that they no longer carry if they are available. They have a huge fresh fish section where you can select exactly what you want or can chose from prepared dishes or frozen food. The butcher has top quality meets with grass fed options. Of course the have precut options or you can ask the bitches to cut exactly what you want. The deli has a large selection or meats including boarshead and and Italian meats that you may not find elsewhere. Their side dishes are delicious as well, I usually go for the rotelli salad or the red skin potato salad. The have a large selection of prepared hot food. You can go to the buffet to customize your meal. The have a section where food is prepared daily by a chef if you want a top notch meal or you can select a freshly prepared meal that has already been prepackaged. You can also use them for catering as well if you are having a party. There is a sushi station where the sushi is comparable to some of the best sushi/Japanese restaurants around and you can even have your sushi freshly rolled. I go for the 3 for 2 because I can't turn down a good deal. The bakery has a very large selection of freshly made breads and deserts. They also have a great selection of flowers at a very reasonable price. You can also find a selection of toiletries, home and automotive goods, and most anything else you would expect a supermarket to have. Get yourself a membership so you can take advantage of the deals. Get yourself a reusable grocery bag while your at it. When I go here, I use my reusable produce bags and even refill the same containers for the hot food, but I don't expect everybody to go that far.

I like the German pretzels from the bakery section. Lidl also has a variety of tasty and affordable Indian frozen dinners. My husband is a big fan of having a few of these in our freezer at home as backups for very busy work nights when we don't have time to cook. I like some of their home brand snacks. The self-check out area has about 6 or so stations, so I haven't ever been on a line really. There are also register aisles, but I've really just seen staff at the self-check out area. There's ample parking in the shopping plaza where the Paramus location is situated. I will get a cart from one of the outside pens and push it to the store. If you have little ones, there are also mini Lidl carts that they can push around along with you - very cute!

Lidl consistently carries some name brand items like Goya, Ocean Spray, Poland Spring and others, which I like. Lidl sells freshly baked croissants for $.49. If you can get your hands on them, they are delish. Overall, this is one of my go to markets to shop.

Originally, I was skeptical about combining a breakfast topping with ice cream. As soon as I explored this creation, it was love at first bite. It had a sweet, salty and buttery texture. And it's available every day of the year. While you are in the supermarket, be sure to explore the lively animations. Throughout the aisles, you will be greeted by flying cows, a variety of fruits and vegetables, a cheesewheel snowman, and the one bite pizza guy. We get it now. It's hard to encapsulate the joy of this market in words. Is it the windy aisles that make you feel like you're getting lost in a land of yummy things? Is it the cheesy animatronics that don't seem to add much value to the shopping experience, but then you catch yourself singing the avocado song hours later? The fresh, made-in-house goods that you couldn't find anywhere else, like the cider donuts, popcorn, breads, or cheeses? Or the shopper's program that rewards visits with free servings of some of the best soft serve ice cream I've ever had? It's all of the above. It adds up to a shopping experience that feels a lot like shopping at Target, where you vow to buy one thing and end up finding at least five more things that catch your fancy.
