They are very pricy compare to other grocery stores. They really should lower their prices.

That's pretty accurate. The workers don't look happy, but they are busy. There's usually 2 cashiers up front. The younger lady that looks to be in her 30's will at least speak. The other cashier looks like a sweet old grandma, but is surprisingly rude. In my experience, she doesn't speak when I say hi, I'll ask for a bag and she'll place it on the belt instead of my outstretched hand, she doesn't say thank you. At first I thought maybe she's just tired and having a bad day. Nope. Been in the store several times since and noticed grandma picks and choose who she's going to bless with a little customer service! I've seen her smile and talk up some, while stone face ignoring others. Even if grandma is a little crotchety at times, I am glad to see she's still out here being active and working.

I hate food shopping. Now, my definition of food shopping is probably different from yours. Since I…read moreeat out most of my meals (thank you, Yelp), my grocery needs are fairly limited. Just the basics: milk, yogurt, honey, fruit and that's about it. Since the whole large chain supermarket thing annoys the crap out of me, I search for solutions. Convenience stores are fine but if you're looking for produce, they're not going to cut it. So those times when I need to stock up without really stocking up, I hit up Kilroy's. They are a small but well stocked mini supermarket that also sells booze. Their prices are.....Well, I don't really know because it's the only place I ever shop. I assume that they're higher than say, Shop Rite but I'm not sure and for me, convenience is number 1. Parking is easy and they are never, ever crowded. Worth mentioning is that if you're looking for a deli counter or elaborate prepared foods, look elsewhere; Maywood Market for example. If you need variety and like to pick and choose amongst multiple brands and sizes, again, not your best choice. But if you need to get the basics, they really can't be beat. My go to place because I really go to no place else.

The prices are high, but about fit for the area. I tend to shop here only for specific items or to patronize their wine selection or liquor selection. The cashiers are generally on top of things and the store is very clean and organized. However, last night, I felt that the welcoming atmosphere was not there. My partner and I walked in at about 8:50 (being very aware of their closing time of 9 pm), and came to get one item quickly as they were the only store that carries it nearby. Almost immediately after walking in, a larger man in grey sweatpants walked over to the liquor counter and goes on the intercom, saying something to the effect of "the store is closing, get your stuff and go to the register because we want to go home". I can understand this feeling as I've worked customer service and retail and always disliked when people came in near closing. However, we were right behind the man using the intercom and were out the door in less than 2 minutes. I would have appreciated him coming to us and greeting us with the store closing information, rather than a gruff intercom grumble. We understood the need to move quickly without this. Maybe you need someone else to take the closing shift? Regardless, we were aware that we were there close to the wire, and we got our stuff and got out after a stare from the grumpy old man.

I contemplated buying something but there is no longer any chance of buying something for $1 and I was going to have to spend $3 to save two. Even with my bad math skills I knew that was crazy! The manager Randy saved the day. He asked what my problem was and I told him. He said let me buy a coffee to bring it up to $20. How nice is that?

Produce is consistently out of stock or rotten. Dairy products are consistently out of date. The store is dingy. The fresh meat range is lacking. The parking is awful. The half the staff is rude and unprofessional. There is obviously a staffing issue as products on the shelves are constantly unavailable and cashiers are few. There is a "service manager" there with long red hair and tattoos who works the front end. Her unprofessional demeanor is explosive. She has a terrible temper and her "RBF" is unmistakable. Avoid. This is a store that is union run (you can surely tell) and owned by Royal Ahold N.V. They head other chain stores in the US including Food Lion and Giant. They avoid eye contact while simultaneously having conversations with other workers in the middle of the busy, narrow isles. The store is neat, but narrow and dated. They have an ok selection of products and their prices are decent. I would have given more stars, but this location lost them at check out. The cashier didn't greet us - she just started slamming our purchases against the scanner plate and tossing the items to the other end of the register. Soda, plastic cups, paper plates - all flung carelessly down for me to try to catch and put into my cart. Thank God I didn't buy eggs! We only came here because we were in the neighborhood and had to grab a few things. In the future, we'll just go out of our way to shop at a better store.

Think of Whole Foods, much less busy, not a whole lot of rushing (which is a good thing) and you take your time to browse around the smaller store. The quiet and calm was cool, for a Thursday evening, not too shabby. We came across a lot of products we haven't seen before. Great options from a vast majority of gluten free to bring your own containers for pasta to help reduce waste. Plenty of signs to look at and read what we can do to be proactive with our bodies, lifestyle and the environment. I loved knowing this was a smaller scale. We accidentally forgot our reusable bags, however bought a new MOM'S insulated bag. Until next time, we will be back!

We tried two of the specials: the orecchiette with sausage and broccoli rabe, which was absolutely delicious, and the chicken saltimbocca, which was fantastic -- by far the best dish of the night. We also had the cacio e pepe pasta, which unfortunately missed the mark. It was extremely undercooked -- even hard to cut with a butter knife -- so that was a bit disappointing. That said, everything else was wonderful! The desserts were outstanding -- their tartufo is unique and not like others I've had, and the Nutella ricotta pie was my absolute favorite. Very rich, very sweet, and a generous portion. Despite the pasta hiccup, we really enjoyed our meal and would absolutely come back again!
