When you first come in this place it looks like your average gas station, but when you look past the appearance you will see the beauty of this store. I personally live fairly close to this store so I have had the pleasure of coming here countless times, which means that I have had many opportunities to try different meals. The first thing I will recommend is the Philly cheese steak. It has a beautiful melted cheese.And the steak so indescribably delicious once you try it yo will be hooked on Elmer's for ever. The pizza is most enjoyable with pepperoni but is good all around. The pepperoni is salty and has some spice but just the perfect amount. The dough is soft and relaxing while blending nicely with the melty droopy cheese. Overall I really like this "gas station" but its atmosphere takes off some points along with the setting. read more

I would not recommend this place. The food isn't bad, I ordered a pizza and a bagel with egg and cheese. The problem is the pricing. I was charged 6.20$ just for a bagel with egg and cheese, and the crazy part, I was charged $6 for a slice of pizza !!!!!! Insane. I would not recommend this place. I find this store convenient when I'm looking for something quick to grab for the road or to bring home. Their breakfast sandwiches are amazing (they get their bread from Rockland Bakery) so I'm able to get my favorite bagel without having to make the trek. Their coffee is nice and strong and they have several varieties to pick from. I've found the sandwiches to be hit or miss so I now stick to the basics and avoid the fancy combinations. They serve hot Spanish food for lunch during the week days. It draws in a lot of the landscapers from the area as someone else pointed out during the lunch hour so the wait can be a bit stiff and parking can be challenging. Apart from the food they have tons of snacks, gadgets and an ample selection of beverages. They have a gas station right on site if needed which is a nice bonus. read more

A solid 3 stars on this one. They are a convenience store and a deli all rolled into one. I have a had some good lunches from here and some I would like to forget. They get very busy at lunch and parking can be tight. They have a grill, deli and hot Spanish food station. Also they have indoor and outdoor seating too which is nice. The prices are reasonable for the area which is always a plus. read more

Local, fast, and I love their gas prices. Much cheaper than exxon or getty up the road. Their deli selections are yummy, especially their BLTs. Like the Dairy Queen on Chestnut Ridge, this is a hot spot for kids after school as their is no main street in Upper Saddle River or Saddle River, so this tends to be the hang out spot for locals and out of townees. Landscapers, contractors and workers often get their lunch and grub here, and the gas attendant is relatively attentive. Parking during peak is difficult and sometimes have to circle around the street corner till a spot opens up due to the big rigs and landscaping trucks that pull in to rest. They have plenty of hot Spanish food and coffee and typical deli prices, and outdoor seating if you prefer. read more

So this guys screws up my sandwich in the morning and then I come back and he tells me IM BOTHERING HIM? Screw you asshole you messed up my sandwich. Who puts vinegar on a Taylor ham egg and cheese. I asked for hot sauce and my sandwich had PINK coloring on it. When I showed him he said that's the hot sauce. Liar! I had to come back and you tell me "what's wrong with you today" I said "excuse me what did you say" he goes "what you just wanted to come in here and bother me" then he throws my sandwich in a bag! Stopped in for cold cuts. Got ham and turkey. When I was walking out of the store I smelled something bad but didn't think anything of it. When I got into the car my family noticed a smell too. I hate Elmer's, always did, they have poor customer service and b/c they are the only vendor in town they take advantage of this and treat their customers very poorly. The school uses them for the kids lunches and when the lunches get canceled because of bad weather, they refuse to give refunds, credits, or a replacement lunch even after I received an e-mail from the school saying that they would do this. read more

Working Christmas Eve?! This was the only place open! This is probably due to the fact that it's a gas station, convenience store, and deli. It sells lotto and you know that's a good stocking stuffer on this particular night. The place was actually kind of busy when I went in. The deli had a few customers ahead of me and behind me. Nothing insane, all quite manageable! I ordered a sandwich off of their vast array of goodies. Couldn't quite make my mind up on what I wanted. I knew I was going to be doing an evening of delectable food so didn't want to ruin that. I also knew I was going to be drinking my you know what off, so I needed something in the system! Went with a club sandwich, forgot to ask for mayo....who does that?! Thankfully without my knowing...it was already on. It was filling and did an exemplary job. I do think that this will be on my places of where to go from now. I wish I could have tried a few other things, but there's time for that...after all, it's a new year!! read more

WOW What an improvement over the original store that was falling down and dirty inside and out. This place is new, clean and great. The head grill cook is awesome and really takes it up a notch for a local deli. They have specials and fresh home made soups that he makes everyday. I get in there in the early morning and they take great care to get my orders right every time. I call in orders for the my guys for lunch and they are always right, not like most other places. They have flavored coffees and all kinds of snacks in the connivence store part. I can even fill up the trucks at the gas pumps while they make me a quick snack ! I really like the improvements from the old business. It's a great place for dads to take their kids on the weekends and get them hooked on taylor ham, egg and cheese sandwiches. JC read more

Elmer's has really great food. It is the perfect place to stop by after school and get something to eat. If you're hungry after school, this is the place to go! It is also convenient if you live nearby and need to grab food when you're in a rush. They even have a gas station in case your car is low on gas! Elmer's is a great place to take your whole family. For a store that had been falling apart a few years ago, the reincarnation of this store is probably as good as a local deli in northern NJ gets. The cooks and employees all take good note of your order, and only once has my order been messed up. To be honest it wasn't even that big of a deal either because I ended up loving the sandwich anyway. They use great ingredients and the prices are about in line what you'd expect of a deli. It's not cheap nor expensive. The only downside as this is a small kitchen, and the only place within Upper Saddle River that actually has a kitchen... it can get overwhelmed at times. Swarms of kids after school! Disruptive and mean spirited. They actually try and bar adult customers from entering the store. On a recent visit, a kid was swinging a snow shovel in the vicinity of my face. He laughed as I tried to get away from him. The owners of the place are afraid of the kids. The parents wait out in the parking lot for the mayhem to calm down. This place is not worth reviewing as it is almost impossible to get past these hoods to get to the deli counter.
