    Matzah ball soup

My fam found this place on Yelp when looking to try some new places for pastrami and corned beef sandwiches. They raved about it and insisted we allow them to take us to try! Well I'm glad they did! Located in a small strip mall, but plenty of parking as cars are in and out. Half of the place is a deli counter with all the Kosher items you can imagine and the other side is a nostalgic cafe like dine in. Went on a Thursday and there was about 7 tables of at least 4 ppl at each chowing down. Pickle station in the back with pickled coleslaw, potato salad, pickled green tomatoes, new pickles and sour. We all opted for the 1/2 sandwich with bowl of soup for about $20, but there is more than enough meat and they give you and extra slice of bread if you would like to make a full sandwich out of your half. Really enjoyed the mushroom barley soup, corned beef and pastrami. Mom and hubs ordered the chicken noodle soup with matzah ball added. It's only $1.25 to add one in, but they didn't have much flavor. Broth tho was good! Ordered a plate of pierogies with sautéed onions and applesauce for the fam to try. It truly reminded me of a cross between homemade and Mrs. T's! lol we all enjoyed! They give you containers and foil to wrap up whatever you desire to go and our waitress was super kind! They close at 7 and a gentleman came around passing out hefty loaves of sliced seedless rye to everyone's table to bring home about 30mins prior! I thought that was super kind of them! Overall meat is cut thin, lean and juicy! Bread was fresh! I certainly will dine here again! Still plenty more for me to try!

We came here for lunch with Hubby's family. His sister lives near this deli restaurant, so they have been there before. We ordered some platters and soups to share. It was a day with the family to celebrate an early Thanksgiving so everyone could be there. We're happy that my Mother-in-law was so excited to spend time with the family Terry was our waitress. She's the best. She took care of what we needed at the time. We ordered a plate of 3 assorted cold cuts with pastrami, tongue, and corn beef with kasha varnishers and orzos. We also had a turkey plate. Before that, we had chicken and mushroom barley soups. I think we had enough. I tried a little piece of everything but didn't eat much this time because I'm not a processed meat and cold-cut eater. So, I had a lot of soup. I tried the tongue just for the fun sake, and I thought the meat was so soft. I can't imagine I ate a piece of a tongue, ha! The pastrami was excellent! Corn beef was tasty too. The Turkey was moist and excellent! This deli was busy during lunch but slowed down after 2 pm. It could accommodate a few groups, big or small.

First, I really enjoyed the atmosphere. It was old school luncheonette, butcher block tables, ladderback chairs, deli cases filled with homemade foods, and a large variety of Jewish specialties, including kasha varnishka, stuffed cabbage, nova, herring, gefilte fish, and much more. We opted to sit and eat a light lunch of soup and a sandwich. Actually, we had the soup and half a sandwich, which came with an extra piece of rye bread to accommodate the huge portion of sliced, off-the-bone turkey. Pickles, cole slaw, and potato salad were complimentary, and the Russian dressing for the sandwich came without even asking. We ordered two soups, one split pea, one mushroom barley. Honestly, the split pea was under expectations, but the mushroom barley exceeded them. I just like a "cleaner" pea soup, and I'm not sure what they did to make this more than that, but I'm also very picky about my split pea soup. The mushroom barley had great flavor, texture, and consistency. The sandwich was exceptional. The turkey was fresh and sliced perfectly, and of course, all white meat. The cases up front are filled with everything you'd expect. If not for the split pea soup, I'd have given this a 5 star rating, but I think they can improve on the soup. That's just my opinion. I loved the pictures on the walls, and the homey feeling. What we call hamish. I will certainly return.

One of the few Jewish delis left in the area. Clean and has all home cooked items. Has a great 1/2 sandwich and soup special.

Great find for a Kosher Deli ! Loads of delicious choices and awesome deli aroma. Friendly employees as well. Hubby and I shared the pastrami Ruben. We each got a huge pickle as well. Also one of each rugula which was yummy. We were both very pleased with our choices

Pastrami on rye - the way it was meant to be! So we were driving home, heading back to Virginia...and ended up at this great local NJ Deli. They were very busy...and for good reason. You could tell everyone stopping in was a regular. So many choices!!! Lots of things to take back home with us, too. I stuck to the basics. Hot pastrami on rye, with mustard. Boy- did I pick well! The pastrami was very thinly sliced and stacked thick. It was as tender and juicy as humanly possible. Wonderful. This was a substantial sandwich...but I ate it all! Heaven. We had yummy homemade pickles and potato salad as sides. Everyone was really nice, service was friendly and excellent. There was so much more to try...I would love to try the soup, rugula, and more. We brought home extra pickles, bread. Can't wait to go back!

This isn't a fancy place--they close early, there are no white tablecloths, no wine list, and the décor leans toward gray veneer booths with red seats. But that's exactly the point. You come here for the food, not the frills. The pickles were outstanding--crisp, flavorful, and the kind you keep reaching for between bites. We both had pastrami on fresh, soft rye with great mustard, and it hit the spot completely. The fries were just right too--crispy overall with those smaller, extra-crunchy pieces mixed in. There's something really satisfying about a place like this. Simple, honest food done well. After a full day of work, it made for a relaxed and genuinely enjoyable date night. We'll definitely be back.

My BF and I split the Corned Beef, Pastrami, Roast Beef & Turkey "Sloppy Joe"- with Russian dressing, coleslaw, lettuce and tomato on some of the best rye bread I've ever gad for $23.99 it was a very generous portion large enough to split and still feel stuffed. This was my first time having 4 different proteins in one sandwich, I was skeptical at first, but my goodness each deli meat was so fresh, tender and flavorful. My BF and I agreed, best sandwich we've ever had. Closest runner ups were Barney Greengrass's pastrami corned beef combo (half the size, 33% more expensive) and for his florida blood, a pubsub from publix We were served w large bowl of pickles (full and half sour) when we sat down, and the service was excellent. Some insight into Epstein's low rating- if you visit a KOSHER deli and are upset they can't give you dairy cheese on your turkey sandwich, that reveals a lot about *you* as a customer and is in no way a reflection of the business you are patronizing. For non kosher eaters: kosher diets forbid the mixing of meat and milk- so no kosher meat restaurant will serve dairy!
