Philly Cheesesteak and Loaded Philly Fries
Erin H.

I saw several local Facebook posts about Crave's grand opening yesterday and decided to give it a try today. I ordered takeout online from their website. When I walked in to pick up my order, there was a line of people also waiting to pick up their orders. One woman said she was waiting close to an hour to pick up her order. They clearly still need time to figure out operations. Luckily the wait for my food wasn't too long. The inside is pretty simple with some murals on the walls and there is a good amount of seating. The portion size for the Philly Cheesteak was a bit small for $15. The Loaded Philly Fries were a decent size ($12). Everything was pretty tasty and flavorful. I will probably give it another try once they are more established.

Cheesesteaks were great and kids loved the pancakes and waffles. Great spot. Will be back again.

Cheese steak was very good however in my opinion is they should get rid of the seeded roll and it would be so much better.

Do you ever have an experience at a place so bad that it ruins the trajectory of your whole day?…read moreThat was my morning at Jackie Smalls. I don't give out one-stars on principle unless the food is inedible or something egregious happens but I feel in this case it is warranted. This is my third time at Jackie Smalls. My first, I thought the avo toast was great. Second time I got a very bland breakfast burrito. My third, today, I brought my infant son and decided to dine in. I asked for a high chair and once seated was told by my "waiter" that he could not take my order but I had to order at the front. First issue was this high chair. Nobody knew how to adjust the straps including me, and it was some minimal little aesthetic thing that looked like he could easily topple out of. This is important later. Anyways no big deal with the ordering, front guy was accommodating and let me order from my seat. I ordered the Smalls Scramble for me and French toast for my son with the syrup and raspberries on the side, no pistachios or whip. Food takes a good bit to come out, which is no biggie either. When it arrives, they set down the French toast plate with a knife (a knife knife not a butter knife) on it in front of my son. Ok not great but I hand them the knife back. Then I try the food. Honestly, I'm not sure what to say about the food but...yikes. The eggs were certainly not soft scrambled, and the toast did not look buttered, and the weak potatoes were somewhat like a thick flaccid potato chip drenched in truffle oil and, by the way, not more than a speck of salt on anything. It looked pretty but that was about it. The French toast was deep fried or air fried and it was just not good. Sorry, no other way to say it. So I go to ask for two things: salt, and to inquire as to whether the multi-grain toast has nuts since I have an allergy and it looked concerning. I keep having to go up to these counters and leave my baby unattended in his unstable high chair because nobody will come to me and keep making me get up. I had to ask like five people about the bread until someone pulled out a binder and started looking for allergens. Everyone was just pointing me to the next person and many seemed to simply not understand my question due to a language barrier. I get my salt, and this is some COARSE salt. So I couldn't even fix the seasoning. Not flaky, but like coarse and pebbly for pickling or seasoning steaks, not for food. While I'm up and bouncing from person to person I keep gesturing at my son and nobody will come to my table. In the meantime, he smushed the raspberries and spilled the syrup and I'm back and forth between my conversation and keeping my son in his chair. At the end, I just didn't trust these people's knowledge of anything and could not eat any of my food but brought it home for my husband. It's one thing to serve food that needs a bit of work, but you need to at least offer normal table salt for folks to fix it. It's another thing to have the majority of your staff not know about allergens or how to navigate your high chairs. Also that food needed more than a little bit of work. I will say though those pancakes did look good. I will not be posting pictures for this review because I don't want to mislead with the pretty plating.

Thoroughly enjoyed an impromptu breakfast here this past Sunday morning…read more Arriving at 930 I saw a pretty full parking lot and was prepared for a small wait. Not necessary as three two tops were available. My wife and I took one, then each ordered one of their specialty coffee drinks. The presentation was excellent and taste was great. Such a nice start. Brunch foodies will love the menu choices. Sweet or savory, meat or veggie, cold or hot. Many dishes with a tasty side salad. Everything was fresh and expertly prepared. Decent portions and priced reasonably given the quality, location and ambiance. Five stars for sure. We will be back!

I headed over around 10:30, when I got there I thought the place was full but there is additional parking in the back. I sat down at the bar since I was by myself and was helped the promptly. The people who work there were all very friendly and I had ordered the braised beef hash. The food came out fairly quickly and it was perfectly cooked. The egg had the yolk runny but the white was fully cooked which is a perfect egg for me. The beef was tender and tasty. Overall a pretty good breakfast. The prices are a little high for breakfast, but when you consider their farm to table style I think it's actually reasonable. If you were looking for a good place to stop for breakfast or lunch, I don't think you would be disappointed. The food was pretty high quality. The service was good and fast. What else could you ask for from a breakfast place.

0 out of 5 stars…read more What should have been a simple brunch turned into a frustrating, drawn-out experience from start to finish. We were initially told the wait would be 25 minutes -- totally reasonable. But after receiving a text 15 minutes later saying we were next, we returned only to be told the kitchen was backed up and it would be another 15 minutes. Then came multiple conflicting texts, including one saying we were being removed from the waitlist for not responding... while we were literally standing there. We were finally seated about 20 minutes after that. It only got worse. It took 40 minutes for food to arrive, and even then, my daughter was served first while my husband and I waited another 15 minutes for ours. The food itself was incredibly disappointing: "poached" eggs that were basically hard-boiled, burnt toast, burnt sausage, and scrambled eggs that came out as a firm, molded mound instead of anything soft or freshly made. To top it off, the entire restaurant felt chaotic. We heard multiple crashes from the kitchen, servers openly complaining, and even staff encouraging the host not to walk out mid-shift. Meanwhile, takeout and delivery orders were flying out while dine-in customers sat waiting for long stretches. Overall, disorganized, poorly managed, and not worth the time or money. We won't be returning.

I grabbed a table and got some work done before it filled up; it does get busy. The breakfast wrap was outstanding: a warm, soft tortilla packed with fluffy scrambled eggs, melty cheese, and perfectly seasoned breakfast meat (I had theirs with sausage). Every bite was balanced; creamy, salty, and a little smoky; with just the right amount of gooeyness. The fillings stayed nicely tucked in without being greasy, and the tortilla held up well without getting soggy. The saucy cup they serve alongside added a tangy, slightly spicy kick that brightened the whole wrap. The coffee paired nicely; I like mine sweet, and theirs was just right. Sitting outside can be noisy from traffic, which might bother some people, but I found it calm and relaxing. I need to come back and try more things from the menu.

I'm happy to see a business that is thriving in this location since all of the previous businesses did not make it. There was a line when I arrived and the super tiny parking lot was full so I had to park on one of the side streets. I ordered the Honeybee Latte off of the spring specials menu. It was super tasty and sweet without being overly sugary. Ordering takes place at the first window and pickup is at the second window. They offer a bunch of food options which I plan to try during my next visit. There are a few tables in front of the building but it's located on a somewhat busy road near the highway. I would recommend taking your order to-go. Definitely recommend stopping by!

The food was fresh (how did they find a flawless avocado in the middle of winter???) and the flavors delicious. The service was outstanding -- weekend brunch was packed, and they put your name on a list in case you want to walk around town while you're waiting. Don't go too far, because somehow they're able to move the tables without making folks feel rushed. Each person we encountered -- the host, the folks at the counter, our server -- was nicer than the last. I got a bowl that had slightly cooked spinach, poached eggs, sweet potatoes and that GOHgeous avocado I mentioned above. One thing I really liked about this bowl is that it didn't have rice in it -- something that would've made it too overwhelming. This was the perfect combo and portion size. Someone else in our small group got the avocado toast (more avocado!!) and also said it was excellent. Definitely plan to return!
