PQ Philly cheesesteak and Chicken Parm sandwich with vodka sauce

Stopped by Pompton Queen Diner for a casual meal and had a decent experience overall. The portions were generous and everything came out hot and nicely presented, though the dishes leaned a bit mild in flavor. Nothing bad -- just could've used a little more seasoning. The service was the highlight. Friendly, attentive staff and quick turnaround on the food. The ambiance is classic diner style -- comfortable and laid-back, but pretty standard. Overall, a solid spot with great service.

half eaten triple berry pancakes cuz I forgot to take a picture before lol

We came in at 2pm on a Sunday, you'd think the breakfast rush would be ending but nope, there was still a wait but we ended up waiting and it took less time than they said so that's good at least! They have a good system doing too with text notifications. I started with a hot chocolate that was pretty damn good. Then for some reason I was craving mozzarella sticks and pancakes lol. The mozzarella sticks were okay, the dipping sauce wasn't that good. The star of the meal was definitely those pancakes, really good and lovely berry flavor! Just missed some of the promised powdered sugar on top. The toast was toast so that was also fine lol. Glad to find out there are still good pancakes at diners. Only wished there were some toppings!

Triple Berry Crepes

I am one of those people who once awake have trouble falling back to sleep. I do not fight it anymore, I get up and do some computer work or watch a news channel. The Pompton Queen opens at 7 am and I was sitting in the parking lot at 6:45 am waiting for them to open. Needless to say that seating was not a problem. They have counter, bench and table seating available. I chose the counter. Their menu is 11 pages long which I find daunting but eventually settled on one of my favorites "CREPES". I like them sweet or savory. Their menu has three breakfast crepe choices. I gravitate toward the sweet in the morning so I went with the "Triple Berry Crepe" ($14). Select English creme, strawberries,, blackberries and blueberries topped with whipped cream make up the dish. I like my crepes to be somewhat soft which they were. Hard overcooked crepes are a real turn off. The one star deduction was because of the overpriced cup of coffee ($3.5).

Excellent food, excellent service, god-tier diner cheesecake. We got burgers, and mine was a classic deluxe. The burger sauce had a nice Smokey quality to it. The sweet potato fries were DIVINE YALL. Their dipping sauces all tasted homemade -- I got the honey mustard to go with the sweet potato fries and wow I'm drooling just thinking about it now. We got the kids portion of linguine and meatballs for my son but with penne. The portion was MASSIVE. The meatball was seasoned so well and had a flavor nostalgic of kofta. It was also stuffed with cheese!! We asked them to add spinach and they happily obliged. My husband's burger was the chimi-jalapeno burger. I'm not going to lie, I didn't like it. But it was EXTREMELY juicy. Check out the picture. Disco fries not notable but massive portion. Ok now the cheesecake. I just got a plain slice. This was last night. I'm going back again today for another slice. Tomorrow? Who's to say? Life is short.

We've been going to the Pompton Queen diner for many years now. The ambiance is that of your typical NJ diner... sumptuous cakes and pastries tempting you from a glass case, seating area up front for waiting customers, and a huge menu to satisfy any hunger. They also have a full liquor bar for late night bites. The service was friendly and prompt. I ordered the chorizo omelet and my dad got the Taylor ham and egg sammich. Both were very good, and the coffee was good as well. I will continue to return to this diner when I'm back in town.

My wife and I were in the area and decided to visit this diner on a recommendation from someone locally. Well, on. Friday late morning, the place was jammed packed and we're able to get 2 counter stools. An extensive menu with many options, we decided to split an order on Short Stack Pancakes , an Uncle Harry secret recipe. They were definitely not your normal pancakes and delicious. We also order a very large Blueberry Muffins which we had toasted and buttered. Again great freshness and flavor. Lucas coffee sealed the deal. Overall 5 out of 5! And the interior ambiance very clean and modern.

One of my favorite diners in the area. I don't think I've ever been disappointed going here. My go to is a chicken parm wrap even though could use a touch more sauce or they should put some on the side. Service is typical of a NJ diner and comes in reasonable amount of time. Their honey mustard is one of my favorites!

There's nothing like a good NJ diner. Of all 50 states in our country, NJ has the most diners. With such high competition, this is one of the better ones. Go on any weekend and you're guaranteed to have a wait. The food, potions, service, price and ambiance are all on point here!

Quintessential NJ diner where the options are huge, the menu is vast, and the cawfee is flowing. This diner draws a crowd but don't be deterred, the tables turn quick and the wait is not nearly as long as anticipated. They also don't rush you so you can enjoy your pancakes for dinner in peace. I opted for the Greek salad with grilled chicken. Grape leaves from a diner just hit different. My boyfriend had a club sandwich. It was quite literally the biggest club sandwich I've ever seen. Served correctly with a mountain of fries. Our waiter was friendly and made the perfect amount of dad jokes while taking our order. Pompton Queen is now officially in my diner rotation.

Maybe it's because I was born in NJ, but I've always associated a NJ diner with garbage food, toothless waitresses that smell like cigarettes, with some unexplainable sticky substance accumulating on the walls and windows, and a high school kid drunk and passed out in their own vomit at a booth (usually around 2AM). Maybe times have changed, or maybe Pompton Queen defies these odds. It's clean, the servers are really nice, there's plenty of parking, and the food is great. I'm actually surprised the food is good given the size of the menu--so many options. Don't leave without dessert--the baklava cheesecake is delightful! Get there early on weekend mornings; you might have a wait.

Our party of 7 stopped in on a recent Saturday. Expect decent waits on weekends as this place has ample parking, a big menu, and great food. BUT gets busy; packed; Feels like a Friday \Saturday night at restaurants I have worked. Staff is friendly. Of course some are better than others. Hard to judge on a super busy weekend. But no complaints here. As I mentioned the menu is huge with so many amazingly described choices. The Avocado Toast was a nice portion on ciabatta bread. Actually still great the next day ( we had take-home). Giant crispy onion rings. A waffle that will cover your plate. I had the Avocado & Turkey Sausage Benny ( Benedict) with home fries ( more like shredded fried potatoes). Great dish, Everything fresh. Great coffee which (IMO) is one of the most important items that a diner has to get right. Excellent choice for locals and people driving by on super busy Route 23.

One of the things I like about diners is breakfast anytime. Went in at dinner time on a Wednesday evening it was busy but not overcrowded. The front hostess greeted us and sat us in a requested booth immediately. Our waiter was welcoming and courteous. I had a simple eggs over med with sausages and toast and my partner had eggs and rib eye steak. Everything was cooked to perfection and huge portions. Clean well organized establishment. Will be back, they have a large selection of desserts will like to try!

Disco burger is insanely good

The Pompton Queen is a quintessential diner in Northern Central NJ. All your classic diner classics are available here. Place gets busy but they'll text you when your table is ready. Fast, efficient, friendly diner service and large portions. The disco burger is amazing.

Ask the Community - Pompton Queen Diner

Do they have strawberry shortcake slices or whole cakes? We used to get them from another local diner but I think they fired their baker since Covid so we are hoping to find something as good. Thank you.

For cakes in general they have whole and slices however i have not seen strawberry shortcake during my visits there. Only strawberry cheesecake.

[Blowing on my nails.] The menu is a mix of American comfort food and gastropub classics, but with flair, and has a bit of everything to satisfy different palates. Our eyes were probably bigger than our stomachs as we ordered 2 apps, 2 entrees, and 2 cocktails, and it was an enormous amount of food. The portions are definitely what you'd call hearty, and everything was very tasty. Thursdays are all day happy hour so we picked the fried calamari appetizer at the HH price (still a full and generous plate and didn't seem like a downsized version) which were tender and well-battered, as well as the hot honey wings which were meaty and substantial. The short rib parpadelle with housemade pasta and a perfectly medium-rare, well seasoned hanger steak with truffle fries completed our satisfying and belly-stuffing meal. The cocktails are serious as well - the presence of a drink with egg white is my personal litmus test for a bar that knows what it's doing, so the Thyme to Bloom special had my name on it. I'm salivating just looking at photos of dishes I didn't order, and am already plotting my return!

The wedge salad is just absolutely drowning in their homemade blue cheese, and thank god for that because I could drink it straight. But maybe inaccurate on the food side. (More later) The sports bar theme is evident. It could use a few more tv's in the bar. Pricing overall reasonable for what it is. Drinks... we kept it basic with beer and wine. I saw some interesting cocktails getting made. Draft beer menu was a little small. But okay variety of drafts. Nice to see some regional brews on tap. One oddity was the bottom of the draft beer menu offering a "new" beer from Ithaca brewing. So I ordered it and they brought me a bottle. No warning or "hey it's not on tap ,you sure you want it?". Not a big deal just a little odd, to put it on draft menu. Food is where it got a little questionable. We ordered wings and pigs in blankets for apps. Discussed with bartender which wing sauce, how many. When you order wings and don't specify, you assume on the bone. But these came out boneless. The menu has each and we weren't asked to confirm either. The bill was for boneless too so it's not like the kitchen called an audible. A little disappointing. Good little piggies though, looked and tasted homemade. With two sauces it's a nice random app to offer. For the mains we got grilled chicken sandwich, shrimp tacos and sliders. Tacos tasty but lukewarm at best. Sliders were charbroiled, more hockey puck than burger. Chicken was fine. But again where it got strange was chicken sandwich came out with onion rings. It's supposed to be with fries (like the sliders) with onion rings an up charge. But no offer / acceptance, no up charge, just onion rings instead of fries. Like on this one the kitchen went rogue. Anyway, I will come back in the future. Not in a rush to do so but I want to give it another shot. It wasn't a bad experience. The food was mostly good. Ambience fine. Drinks okay. I need to return at minimum to learn why its name is more strip club than sports bar.
