Pretty good diner. Place was packed which is a good sign. Food was average - Got the 2 egg platter and everything tasted fine. Coffee was good for being a diner coffee ee. Service was good. The wait staff were attentive and kept checking in if everything was good. Ambiance is good. Vibrant and clean

My wife and I have been on a quest to visit a new diner for breakfast on the weekend. After many years driving by the Alps Diner we finally took the dive and went in! Super friendly staff. Hearty portions as you can see by the photos and very tasty food. My wife loved her chorizo Benedict. Had a bite and chorizo was super delicious. We will definitely be back!

Always a pleasant experience at the Alps Diner. Service is always good and food is always fresh and delicious. The Taylor Ham burger I had was perfect and gave me flashbacks to when I was younger and had these a lot. The teriyaki wings were fantastic. Overall a solid diner where you won't wait an hour for a table. Enjoy

New Jersey has many great diners which offer quality food at a reasonable price. On the road early in the morning on my way to kayaking on the Delaware river, I stopped at the Alps Diner, a family owned and operated business. Their promotion is "We have everything all day." Featuring itself as a retro-diner, it has red bucket seats and lots of chrome in it's interior. Like most diners in N.J., the menu is large offering everything from waffles to fish to burritos. Breakfast is served at 7 am followed by lunch and dinner. They have counter service, as well as, tables, and bucket seats. The faimly has been in the diner and catering business for more than 20 years. They offer online take-out and delivery. It is BYOB and they do not have a corkage fee. My usual breakfast is oatmeal with some type of fruit but on this day I had their 3 egg breakfast which came with hashbrowns, toasted and buttered rye bread and your choice of tea or coffee ($6.25). This diner offers value, large portion size, fresh ingredients, quality food and a large menu. If you are ever in New Jersey try this diner or one of the many other great diners in this state.

As my previous reviews attest, the food is superb. And they nske the best cole slaw anywhere. Service is excellent and courteous. I was a bit disappointed when they charged me $1 EACH, for a lettuce, tomato and onion slice, for my cheeseburger. So I paid an additional 37% for garnishes? And they also apparently add a fee, for credit payment. I'll think, before I go back. Things are tough for restaurants, but it's tough for consumers, too. Every dollar counts.

Chicken tenders and fries - A white plate holds three pieces of fried chicken tenders, a serving of French fries in a metal container, and a small square dish of dipping sauce. The plate is placed on a table with a paper placemat, and the background shows part of the diner's interior with colorful mosaic decor.

Excellent good with great prices! Our waiter Josh was very friendly, attentive, and helpful! We never had to ask for anything. He was smiling all the time. I love great service. Thanks Josh!

Me in love with the idea of having cream of turkey! - A woman with curly dark hair, wearing a pink leopard-print top, is seated at a table in a restaurant, holding a black Alps Diner menu prominently in front of her. The restaurant interior features wood paneling, and multiple TV screens displaying sports are visible in the background. The table has a paper placemat and a menu holder, indicating a casual dining environment.

From the moment we walked in, the hospitality stood out. We were the only Asian group in the restaurant, and the host/manager made us feel genuinely welcome. Even though the wait was busy and around 40 minutes, he still found moments to chat with us and keep the mood light, which made the time pass quickly. Our server was absolutely wonderful. I didn't catch her name, but she was friendly, energetic, warm, and incredibly personable. When she learned we were visiting from China and had spent more time in places like Los Angeles before coming to New Jersey for the first time, she happily shared stories about the local area and made us feel right at home. Her kindness completely changed the feeling of a cold, rainy day. The food was outstanding. We finished everything, even though we were already full, because it was just that good. This is the kind of place where the food is satisfying, the portions are generous, and the experience feels real. I made sure to leave my tip directly for our server because she truly earned it. If there's ever an opportunity for recognition or promotion, I hope management knows what a gem they have on their team. Pompton Queen Diner is a reminder of why classic American diners matter so much. In a time when so many places focus only on trendy Instagram aesthetics, this restaurant offers something far more valuable: genuine warmth, personality, and heart. My partner and I decided to pay Pompton Queen Diner a visit for dinner for the first time since last summer. I was greeted by the host, and despite how packed the diner was upon arrival, they'll take one's cell # and then text when the table is ready. The wait was never too long--about 15 minutes.  Their menu remains never-ending, and even the pickiest of eaters will find something on the menu to order. We decided on the Chicken Pot Pie accompanied by House Salad with Salami as well as Bronzino & Shrimp Francaise with Italian Sausage Soup.  The food was tasty, well seasoned, and arrived hot. Portions were large. We had a nice server, Randall, who was attentive and accommodating. The price was comparable to the area.  Another great dining experience!

The French Combo came as two separate plates - one with the eggs, sausage, bacon, and potatoes, and also a heaping plate of French Toast. I tried a piece of the French Toast, and it was delicious - nice fluffy texture, topped with whipped cream and strawberries. Service was quick and friendly. Overall, a great NJ diner experience!

It looks like the kind of place you would see in Triple D on Food Network. Upon ordering you realize it more like a place from Kitchen Nightmares. In hindsight I should have known I was in for a mistake when I heard the tireless toil of microwave buttons in the kitchen. I rarely think of a dish that comes out better in the micro. The other big red flag should have been when they told us that the french toast was presoaked, as if bread dunked in eggwash couldn't be a "made to order" dish. The real highlight of the meal was when we found no cheese in the 3 item (cheese, mushroom, green peppers) omelette. Our server assured us she entered it into the computer from across the restaurant. We asked for the cheese as the eggs were still steaming and I love inter table cooking, what we got for this request will go down in infamy for all of time. Approximately 6 minutes later we were brought a saucer of yellow sludge. Confidently our server exclaimed "I had them melt it for you" to which we affably and uncomfortably smiled. Aha! The microwave duly at work. If it were 1975 (my guess of its opening date based on the original decor still on display) this meal may have blown back our coiffed hairdos, but I'm certain George is rolling in his grave for the experience had within the walls of his namesake. If this is your weekly hang, carryon, but if you're hungry and have never been, keep it that way.

Do you ever have an experience at a place so bad that it ruins the trajectory of your whole day?…read moreThat was my morning at Jackie Smalls. I don't give out one-stars on principle unless the food is inedible or something egregious happens but I feel in this case it is warranted. This is my third time at Jackie Smalls. My first, I thought the avo toast was great. Second time I got a very bland breakfast burrito. My third, today, I brought my infant son and decided to dine in. I asked for a high chair and once seated was told by my "waiter" that he could not take my order but I had to order at the front. First issue was this high chair. Nobody knew how to adjust the straps including me, and it was some minimal little aesthetic thing that looked like he could easily topple out of. This is important later. Anyways no big deal with the ordering, front guy was accommodating and let me order from my seat. I ordered the Smalls Scramble for me and French toast for my son with the syrup and raspberries on the side, no pistachios or whip. Food takes a good bit to come out, which is no biggie either. When it arrives, they set down the French toast plate with a knife (a knife knife not a butter knife) on it in front of my son. Ok not great but I hand them the knife back. Then I try the food. Honestly, I'm not sure what to say about the food but...yikes. The eggs were certainly not soft scrambled, and the toast did not look buttered, and the weak potatoes were somewhat like a thick flaccid potato chip drenched in truffle oil and, by the way, not more than a speck of salt on anything. It looked pretty but that was about it. The French toast was deep fried or air fried and it was just not good. Sorry, no other way to say it. So I go to ask for two things: salt, and to inquire as to whether the multi-grain toast has nuts since I have an allergy and it looked concerning. I keep having to go up to these counters and leave my baby unattended in his unstable high chair because nobody will come to me and keep making me get up. I had to ask like five people about the bread until someone pulled out a binder and started looking for allergens. Everyone was just pointing me to the next person and many seemed to simply not understand my question due to a language barrier. I get my salt, and this is some COARSE salt. So I couldn't even fix the seasoning. Not flaky, but like coarse and pebbly for pickling or seasoning steaks, not for food. While I'm up and bouncing from person to person I keep gesturing at my son and nobody will come to my table. In the meantime, he smushed the raspberries and spilled the syrup and I'm back and forth between my conversation and keeping my son in his chair. At the end, I just didn't trust these people's knowledge of anything and could not eat any of my food but brought it home for my husband. It's one thing to serve food that needs a bit of work, but you need to at least offer normal table salt for folks to fix it. It's another thing to have the majority of your staff not know about allergens or how to navigate your high chairs. Also that food needed more than a little bit of work. I will say though those pancakes did look good. I will not be posting pictures for this review because I don't want to mislead with the pretty plating.
