Super groovy diner with excellent food and great customer service! My husband and I ordered takeout from Alps in May 2020, and it was just what we needed - a break from cooking & delicious! I HIGHLY recommend the turkey club and well done mozzarella sticks. Also, you shouldn't leave without a black and white milkshake. They are so good! We called ahead and placed our order over the phone for pick up. When we arrived, we waited the parking lot until receiving the call that our order was ready, so we could pick up without crowding the restaurant. Diner has been under new ownership for over a year. I personally have not been in the diner, but have ordered delivery from them multiple times. I must say the quality of food is substantially better than it was and delivery is quick. I have tried chicken panini's, omelets, hamburgers and other dinners all of which have been very good. If this review was based solely on architecture and decor, Alps would get five stars. It's a cool looking spot with a great looking blue sign out front. The interior has a retro/art deco feel that was very appealing. Adequate service and typical diner fare. Chicken fingers and fries, corned beef hash and scrambled eggs, a take out ginormous salad for my wife. No reasons to complain. Everything was well prepared and tasty. Only downside was an obnoxious patron two tables away who ignored his spouse and bellowed into his cell phone. Something about liver cancer. The conversation lasted most of our meal. Marvelous..... I go to quite a few diners and New Jersey is "diner state" if I ever saw one. I am happy to say that I have found a great diner in Wayne, NJ, and it is Alps Diner. The service is spectacular and it is run by a very nice couple - Steve and Patricia. From the time I walked into the Alps, I was made to feel welcome and my business was appreciated. But how is the food? I am happy to say that the food is great. It is not your usual Diner fare. They do things a bit differently. So if you are expecting the same ol' same ol', then you are setting yourself up for disappointment. The Alps changes things up with menu items I haven't seen in diners before, while still having quite a few of the standard favorites. I like a diner that stands out, and the Alps does so effortlessly. I have had the Pulled Pork Burger, which was delicious and when I requested it be served on whole wheat toast instead of a roll, they cheerfully accommodated me. I also didn't want fries and instead asked for a vegetable (steamed broccoli). No problem. Whatever I wanted. Today I had a Cobb Salad, but it had a generous portion of nicely grilled and seasoned chicken breast on very fresh greens, with Swiss and blue cheese, egg, and bacon. It was delicious served with the Greek salad dressing. So far, I have always been delighted when I have gone to the Alps diner. It is effortless dining there and I really felt welcome by the staff, even sitting at the counter (I love diner counters!). Lastly, the place is extremely clean and bright, with lovely tile and wood trim throughout. This is a handsome diner. The service is spot-on and friendly and the food is very well prepared and properly seasoned. I have eaten at many a diner in many States, and the Alps is right up there with the best. It should also be mentioned that the prices are quite reasonable. Many diners I have been to are much more expensive. Alps Diner seems to come in at around 20-25% lower than other diners in my area for the foods I like. So if you like something a bit beyond the norm in your diner and appreciate great service by good people in a beautiful venue, give the Alps Diner a try. You won't be disappointed! My partner && I went here for breakfast. Diner is clean, looks nice && they are very attentive. Idk if im spelling her name right, sorry if i'm not, but the Waitress Aisha? Sooo attentive ,nice & friendly! Few days later we ordered dinner through grubhub, instantly within a minute the waitress had given us a call to finalize on some details on our meals && i've never had that experience before. I enjoyed that because most places make the decision for you, let alone give a courtesy call to see what side you wanted. Delivery was maybe 30-35 mins, I honestly feel like it was quicker than that. &&& with complimentary dessert! Great diner! Great service && staff. Highly recommend. Huge portions! Been here a few times recently. The food is good. The staff is extremely nice. Prior to dining in I had only had delivery from here which was good as well. Additionally, if you give your email address at the cashier you will get all kinds of specials and coupons which have been a great deal. The employees are what made the place for us. Since we checked In with Yelp we got a free appy. We chose the loaded baked potato skins. I have never had potato skins loaded with so much bacon, they were really good! I chose a dinner special of Fish and Chips with a cup of their Mushroom barley soup. The soup was old Style diner homemade and welcoming on the cold evening we visited. The fish and chips came with French fries and a couple of onion rings. This was definitely freshly made as it was a real beer batter on the fresh fish that was perfectly cooked. The flavor was very good. Good onion rings as well. Tarter sauce also was good. My dining companion enjoyed her French Onion Soup as well. The service was very good and the waitress later even introduced us to her young daughter who was assisting her. The owner came over and thanked us for coming in knowing it was our first visit and also sent over a slice of carrot cake to finish our meal. It was a very nice gesture but the cake itself was a bit on the dry side. Overall we would visit there again as the prices and portions were very good. And the hospitality was great! First of all the staff is extremely friendly!!! I wish the food was better because I'd go for the staff alone. The inside is really cute...love the typical diner look. Sadly,let's face it, it's all about the food. I got a cheddar broccoli omelette. It was fine..but really lacked seasoning. Eggs need a bit of salt. Overall I just tasted some really good cheddar. Went to this diner for Father's Day lunch w/ my wife. Waitress could care less. Came over, asked what we wanted to drink, came over once to take our order (we weren't ready) then didn't show up again for nearly 15 minutes. Wife asked 3x for a cup of coffee. Didn't bring it any of those times. When she brought our food, she again forgot the coffee. While eating she never came over to see if the food was ok, offer another cup of coffee or anything else. I needed a few extra napkins, but she was talking to customer at another table about TV shows "manifest," "Debris" and "lost." Couldn't care less for us. When she finally did come over, i asked her for a few extra napkins -- she brought 2. Owner could care less as well. Spent time filling fridge with drinks. Delivery.com automatically took $5 off my order because GUESS WHAT MISTER MAN, your restaurant AUTOMATICALLY ALLOWS Delivery.com to take $5 off of $30 and $10 off of $50. You know what that means? I have NO CONTROL over it. I have a screenshot picture to prove it. OK - so order is placed at 7:00 (7:04 to be precise). I walk in my house at 8:00 and get a call at 8:10 from someone at the diner who says: MISTERMAN: "Did she call you to tell you she couldn't deliver to you?" ME (politely): "No, I never received a phone call." MISTERMAN: "Well she couldn't deliver to you before but she can now. You still want the food?" My husband and I were looking for a reasonably priced place for a Saturday lunch with our 2, 5 and 7 year old. A friend suggested we go to the Alps Diner, close to where we live. My parents had stopped there a few times on their way to visit us and always said the food was good. It was clean, had nice views and decor, and an expansive menu. The staff was friendly. Went there for lunch at 2:00 place was empty, didn't leave until 3:40. Waiting so long for food out of 5 orders one was right. (Hot dog) for a 2 year old. They said reason why food wasn't made correctly like the menu read, was the dish washer was cooking and the owner was helping. If I knew the dish washer was cooking when we walked in, I would have walked right out. All we ordered were sandwiches nothing big. Sandwiches were very skimpy also.
