This company took over for cube smart and the associate I spoke to explained to get the auto pay set back up they had sent me 4 threatening emails about late payments, etc. completely unprofessional. We are shocked with the unethical policies of this company. We are from Texas and set up a storage room with Prime Storage so that we could move my son's college belongings into it for the summer. We spoke to Leslie, who set us up with a 5 x 10 unit for $161/month. She sent us a confirmation email with all of the agreed upon info. When I arrived at Prime with all of my son's belongings, Leslie was no where to be found. The only person there was a young guy named Joe, who had no authority. He told me that we were down for a 10 x 10 (way too big) for $230/month! I showed him my confirmation email, so he searched and searched for my unit. Finally, he called good ol' Leslie, who told him that our storage unit was rented to someone who can come in with cash. We were never told that our unit was in danger of being given away! When we talked to Leslie later, she said IT WAS COMPANY POLICY TO GIVE AWAY RESERVED UNITS IF SOMEONE COMES IN SOONER WITH CASH!! So, we were stuck paying for a more expensive until because we were in a city we do not know and were on a time crunch. We frankly cannot believe that anyone would operate a company this way. read more

Avoid this facility at all costs! Where do I begin? Within 18 months our unit rental rate more than doubled (to a figure in the mid $600s), while accessible hours were drastically shortened (only open 4 hours on Sundays, for instance). What's more, the doors are often locked at the posted opening time. The moving elevator is frequently out of order, staff is often nowhere to be found, the bathroom is permanently out of order/unavailable, there are no trash cans on site, and the place is filthy. The management is unethical and the hallways feel unsafe. You know things are bad when you are willing to pay a moving company four figures to haul your belongings to a new storage facility less than 15 minutes away. read more

This place is terribly overpriced with their recent re t increases, have terrible and inconvenient hours and no one is EVER AT THE FRONT DESK!! I've tried to move out TWICE and no one was here for me to do so because they put their own lock on my locker when I deliberately told them not to because I was coming back the same day and needed my lock for my new BETTER storage unit. Do Not Rent Storage here, there are much better options. They quoted me a rate, then "oh by the way" you have to have insurance which adds a chunk to the real rate. Then after a couple months you find out the rate was a tickler rate and the "real" rate is 50% higher after you have moved all your stuff in and are stuck. There was water intrusion pooling in my unit the first month and water elsewhere in the building after every major storm. It is "climate controlled" but not water entry controlled. The entry to my area of the building was filthy and never cleaned. I tried to clarify something in the contract and was told not to worry about my concern (but they would not put anything in writing). All this in 3 months. I sucked it up and hauled all my stuff to another place. Don't make the same mistake. read more

This is the first time I've ever reviewed anything publicly, but feel compelled to share the worst business experience I've ever had in my life. Dirty, unsafe, often broken elevators, often no attendant on duty, limited hours of operation when I started only to be cut back even further, frequently late to open even when hours are posted, no working rest room, rude customer service, ... I could go on and on. Oh, and they DOUBLED the price of my unit in the first year. And they charged a significant late fee at one point even though they were well aware I had sent a check on time that they apparently misplaced. I would have gotten out much sooner but of course it requires effort to rent a truck or hire movers once you've moved in. Wish I'd bailed a long time ago. There are so many better options to store things in Boston. Stay away from this dishonest and unreliable place! read more

I am trying to pay my bill online and the website says I don't have any units. This is the second time I've tried to pay online, the website didn't work the first time either. I called Prime Storage and there is a recorded message and no one answers. This is typical of the issues with this facility. Get the website to work, I can't keep trying to pay my bill. The Ken M. review, 4 years old, with 5 stars is a fake review. Just look at the genuine reviews posted with 1 star. There is no Peter at this facility, prices are not reasonable and the business practices of this company are unethical. Yelp doesn't allow zero stars which is what this business deserves. read more

Absolutely awful company and shady business model. They lure you in with competitive rates and then increase them each month. The advertisement stated the first month was free...it was not, the website stated that the locations are 24/7....it was not. They put small asterisks after all these statements, which is how they get away with making them. (And now charge extra for 24hr acess) After only 2 months of renting the largest of units during a house move, I got a notification that they were increasing my rate to almost $400 (almost 50% increase). I called and asked what was happening, and they stated it was a periodic rate increase, which they slid into the lease agreement, but 50% come on. They agreed that it was aggressive for being a new customer and said that they would waive the increase. One month later, I got a notice that they were once again raising the fee this time to $350. They refused to refund the amount, and that was it, and I pulled my belongings out. It's a shame they are so greedy because the actual building and storage unit were very nice. Just not worth the constant increase in rent, and shady business practices. I would never recommend this bussines. read more

Prime storage is a rip off. My fee went up $100 before a year was up. Then they cut my lock off put another on there and I came to get the key with stuff to put in and they got me waiting for over and hour to help me when all they had to do was give me my key. Prime Storage Traveler Street is the worst and they deserve zero stars. The manager at this location made mistake after mistake. He scanned my ID and insurance and then the main office told me that I never provided the information. I paid for 2 months storage in advance and placed items in my unit. When Prime emailed the contract for a signature, it had the wrong storage room number, a higher rate and additional charges. Even though I emailed over and over to get them to correct it, they never did and when I went to store additional items, they locked me out of my unit. read more

I cannot recommend them. First I paid customer service and immediately got a call asking for payment again. Next, the lock I used was approved (they only had one remaining so were happy I brought one) and yet in a week I got a letter saying I needed to come in within 72 hours or they would put their lock on because I had put it on wrong and they would charge me. So the next day I came within 24 hours and they had already locked it. I called customer service because it was clear to me someone wanted to charge me. No one there had heard of the letter. Next I wanted to move out - I was ready to give 2 weeks notice after having stuff in storage for 1 week and having paid for the month. They said I would receive a charge for leaving early, my only option was to lock the unit and come back in 2 weeks even if I had no stuff in it. Otherwise they'd charge me. I was sick of dealing with this stuff and paid the fee. I couldn't fathom why it was so important that the unit was not empty. In a month to month lease at an apartment it would have been equivalent of moving out and returning the keys 2 weeks before the end of the month, yet being penalized for not waiting 2 more weeks to return the keys. I would say do not trust them, it is borderline a scam. read more

Peter was a total pro. Set me up with a storage unit and made sure everything was quick and easy. Prices are very reasonable. If you do not believe that, then check around. Storage units are not hotels - they are not meant to be fancy and fun to stay in. Its a place that safely stores your things and they seem to do that very well. read more

THE WORST!!! This company is the worst storage I have ever dealt with. They screwed up my account when they took over the small business already there. Then then let me move storage units so I could clean out and organize. I Was just moving one to another. Come to find out the shady property manager deliberately let me move to another unit knowing it was bigger and I would go up in rent. Shocker, 1 week after I moved in he said " oh I had no idea" So I either had to move a 10x20 full again which they knew wouldn't because it was a lot of work or pay more. Total liar and I know it was malicious and intentional. They lock your unit 1 day after being late and charge outrageous fees. Stay away lots of other storage places out there. read more

Awful. Does not look like pictures. First unit I saw was filthy - inches of dust and dirt. so gross. Moved to another unit that was so old & dated. Very, very poor lighting in units - could only see part of the unit. Had to feel around rest of unit to figure out where to put my things. 1 star is 1 too many. I originally posted a review explaining I rent a smaller unit than my parents in the same location for about the same length of time (14-16 months) but we pay the SAME base rate. I spoke to the manager at lake park about the obvious mistake, then called corporate & got nothing but condescending attitude for not understanding their "logic". I was told they would have a manager call me & never heard back. So I wrote a review where they told me to call them so they can discuss (i.e. re-explain how market forces affect customers differently at the same time?). The prices listed for a unit on the website (not specials) are NOT what they charge me each month & they refuse to correct the mistake. It's maybe $20/month for the last 4-5 months.. a big amount of money to me that they didn't deserve for charging me the listed price of a unit I don't have. So I say again... Do yourself a favor drive the extra mile or two to your storage unit (which, if ur like me, u will likely visit rarely)" read more

Scam of a company. Tried to charge me for an extra month even though I had vacated their premises and provided the proper advance notice. Claimed not to have received my forms, but I showed them an earlier email about it and they backed up and told me I was right and I didn't have to pay. Fast forward nine months and I just received a form from a debt collector that they reported me to the government for not paying... they never tried to contact me again after telling me I didn't have to pay.
