Marathon was responsive, professional, affordable, courteous, worked quickly, and within the parameters provided in their estimates. They picked up the stuff both in our old home as well as a storage unit we had been using leading up to our relocation. With any luck, the next time I move will involve my ashes being scattered. If we have to move homes again, I would not hesitate to use Marathon.

Ugh. If you are a student, you pay storage charges up front for a summer or a semester, so if you…read morego over the storage time by even a day you end up paying double what you intended to pay. But that's not even the issue, since that is in their fine print. The issue is that these people are impossible to reach by phone. They picked up my son's belongings in May, but on their website there was nothing listed as being in storage for him to get back. The office was closed over Labor Day weekend, which is a very busy move-in weekend for students at the local universities, and they had a phone message saying nobody would be in their office answering their phone and that you should text this other number. Texting that number produced no results. Honestly, the best option for storage is to rent a storage unit and bring things to it yourself so that you don't get overcharged and jerked around by OnDemand storage.

AN AWFUL EXPERIENCE I used this company to store belongings…read moreover Summer 2017 with great success. As a result, I used them in 2018 as well, and urge anyone considering using this company to avoid doing so. OnDemand called me the day before my pick-up to ask to reschedule, promising a discount. I agreed to this. A charge was billed to my credit card but I never received an invoice, indicating that I'd received a discount. When I finally received an invoice (after repeated emails), I had not received the promised discount. Most problematically, when my belongings were returned, a desk was very damaged and a $200 rug was not returned at all. OnDemand has refused to provide any reimbursement, noting that I did not purchase insurance. At no point was the option to buy insurance made prominently available. Customer service has been slow to respond to my emails, often waiting until I have sent two or three over the course of several weeks. I will not be using this company again and I do not recommend using them either.

The comments were overwhelmingly in favor of New Generation, and I'm so glad that we chose to go with Kevin and his team. Upon filling out the online contact form, Kevin quickly reached out to us to answer any questions and send us the portal for recording our belongings and information about each location. From this, Kevin promptly sent us an estimate which found very well priced and fair. We put down a $100 deposit to hold our date, and the company confirmed our move early in the week and up until the night before. We also got an update when the truck was en route in the morning which was great because they actually arrived early for the 8am appointment. There were 3 men who came with a very well sized truck, and after an initial walkthrough they got straight to work! They took care of delicate items, wrapped almost everything, and were extremely efficient. They had our whole 2 bedroom apartment loaded within a 1.5 hours. Once we got to our new home, they were equally as efficient and careful with our belongings and our house (laying down mats and sheets to not damage the hard wood floors). The whole job ended up going faster than expected, and they used less materials than expected, so the final invoice was less than quoted! I have and will continue recommending New Generation and will turn to them for moves in the future.

I waited a few months before posting because I was so frustrated and disappointed by this experience that I wanted time to assess the full extent of the damage and loss before sharing my thoughts. I have moved at least eight times in my life, including a major move from Texas to Massachusetts, and I have never experienced anything close to what happened with this company. When we sold our home sooner than expected, we hired this company to handle our move, store our belongings, and then deliver everything to our new home. We trusted them with nearly everything we owned. That trust was misplaced. I understand that during any move, a few items may get damaged. That's unfortunate but realistic. What is not realistic is arriving at your new home and discovering that approximately 30% of your belongings are damaged, broken, missing, or unusable. Among the damaged items were dishes, glasses, vases, lamps, mirrors, pictures, Christmas trees, furniture, and even our lawn mower, which was nearly new, worth approximately $5,000, and had been used just before we sold our home. Our expensive olive trees arrived broken at the base and were beyond saving. Many boxes were crushed from what appeared to be improper storage and stacking practices. What was perhaps even more frustrating was the complete lack of care shown during delivery. Despite being present and directing movers where items belonged, we continued finding boxes marked "Kitchen" upstairs in unrelated rooms. One member of the crew worked incredibly hard and genuinely seemed to care about doing a good job. Unfortunately, the same could not be said for everyone on the team. The remaining movers appeared far more interested in finishing quickly than ensuring our belongings were handled properly, placed correctly, or reassembled appropriately. Furniture was assembled without consulting us about placement. One bed was put together while three mattresses were simply piled on top of it. Numerous items remained wrapped and unfinished. Moving blankets were left behind. We were handed a box filled with miscellaneous parts that were not labeled, and to this day we still do not know what many of those pieces belong to. The missing items are almost as upsetting as the damaged ones. We are still discovering things that never made it back to us, including batteries for lawn equipment, components for our lawn mower, tanks for our Swiffer systems, the power cord for our $1,800 exercise bike, and countless other items accumulated over years of hard work. Perhaps the most heartbreaking part is the level of disregard shown for belongings that represented years of effort, sacrifice, and memories. My husband and I worked very hard for the things we own. Watching them arrive damaged, destroyed, or missing was incredibly upsetting. Ironically, we tipped the movers because at the time we had not yet uncovered the true extent of the damage. As we unpacked over the following 7 weeks, the reality became clearer and more devastating. We paid approximately $8,000 for moving and storage services. The damage and losses we experienced far exceed that amount. The financial impact has been significant, but the frustration and disappointment have been even greater. Hiring this company was one of the worst decisions we have ever made. If you are considering using them to move and store your belongings, I strongly encourage you to look elsewhere. I would never trust this company with my possessions again.

The bottom line is that you shouldn't waste time looking around, just use Burkhardt. One of the owners David came a week before the move, gave me a reasonable estimate and was incredibly personable. Then yesterday they sent two guys (Morgan and Kyle) who were absolutely tremendous. Sometimes you never know what you're getting with movers, but these two guys were courteous, listened to make sure that things were done the way I wanted, and they let me know on multiple occasions that they were dedicated to making sure that the job was done the way I wanted. And to make it even better, they were also focused on being efficient which meant that the move went smoothly and quickly without any feeling that they were cutting corners. It wasn't until later that I found out that Morgan is also a Burkhardt, and it gives me confidence that this company is going to be around for a long time. Moving is usually an emotional affair, but Burkhardt Movers were so fantastic that the sadness of the move was quickly replaced by gratitude for how pain-free they made the move. Thank you Burkhardt Movers!

My friend about was looking for mover recommendations when I told her about my horrible experience…read morewith this company, She said I should warn others, so here I am. I had used this company years ago in the early 2000's and had a good experience. However, the time I used them again a few years ago was a nightmare, One of the owners came to my apartment to give me an estimate. I was getting rid of most of my furniture because it was old and/or broken. So basically all I had to move was a bedroom set, a couch, and some boxes. He quoted me two people because I did not have a lot to move. In fact, when I used them before I only had two people because I did not have a ton of furniture but much more than I had this time. Anyway, imagine my surprise when on moving day THREE people showed up. One of them said to me that they didn't have much work that day. Oh so I am supposed to pay for that? They know they have you though because moving is stressful enough without an argument. Plus, I stupidly thought it would go faster. WRONG! They were so slow that even with three of them there would be long gaps between getting furniture. I went outside at one point and saw the three of them just hanging out on the truck. So finally when everything was done I said ok I will meet you at the new place. One of them said, we have to stop at the office real quick. I get to my new place, and it took them over an hour and a half to arrive. I called their cell phone at one point because they had given me the number, but of course they did not answer. So when they finally showed up and moved me in, they way overcharged me. At least a third more than what I was quoted. I was so tired and worn out that I just paid it. I had to return to work the next day so it took me a while to unpack. That's when I started to notice that I was missing things, jewelry, handbags, designer sunglasses, china from my Grandmother, a huge jar full of change, clothes etc. The problem was i could not prove any of it. I also stupidly used bankers boxes so I did not seal them because I have never had a mover steal from me. One of the movers even said to me that I should not have used them! I was too stupid to realize that the reason they took so long to get to my new place was because they were going through my stuff to see what valuables they could take. I am still heartbroken because some of the things they took were family heirlooms which really only had sentimental value. Please do not hire these people at any price! I wish I had brought them to court, and I still might. Anyway, I am hoping I can spare someone else from their thievery.

When I asked for an explanation, he said that they were trying to be more efficient, and defended some pretty shady pricing structures. They left all the windows in the apartment wide open. In December. If I had not gone over to check the work, the pipes might have frozen. To top it all off, a piece of furniture that I explicitly told them not to remove, was thrown out. Pros: The company was communicative the entire time, and prompt on arrival. The junk removal itself was well done, and the apartment left in decent condition on their exit. Cons: Misleading pricing, VERY far off estimates. When Zach arrived and we did the walkthrough, we went through everything that needed to be done. He gave me the estimate of 2 guys for "2 hours tops". The final tally (for day 1) ended up being 2 guys for 4-5 hours + 2 guys for 3 hours. Day 2 was 3 guys for an additional 2 hours. In follow up communications, he tried to spin it as 'saving me money'. Going from 2 guys ~2 hours to ~3-4 guys for ~6-7 hours is misleading. There was a heavy stove found in the basement that added a complication, but not to the tune of ~2x the labor for 3-4x the time. Additionally, there is a sliding scale on pricing for truck bed space. I've worked with several junk companies before for jobs -- no one else I've worked with has ever had that pricing structure. When you tell someone that a full truck load of junk costs $1150, they would expect it to be $287.50 per quarter. Not some sliding scale 'bulk discount on junk truck space'. This is the sort of thing you would expect from some megacorp with hidden fees and unclear pricing. I will not be doing business with this company again, and cannot recommend anyone else to do the same.

I'm giving you the keys to my car with a loaded truck full of my personal valuables, and expecting you to give it back to my thousands of miles away with everything in tact. Skepticism aside, I took the chance with these folks and they made the process incredibly easy. The reason why I went with CCLDM, is because they allowed me 100lbs in the trunk of my car to pack whatever. My situation was interesting, cause no moving company would take my stuff cause I didn't have enough stuff to make the trip. Therefore, that 100lbs in the trunk really saved me. Communication was excellent. The email response was excellent. Everything was great. I had a follow up phone conversation with John, one of their representatives, just now to ask how the service was, and I really appreciate them doing that. I put a lot of value into communication, and they held up their end of the bargain. If you're looking to ship your car or ship your things, give these folks a call.

These guys are honestly one of the most professional companies I have worked with in any capacity. Everything was packed up and catalogued in a matter of hours. The apartment was left spotless. Since I was moving out of Orlando right after Hurricane Irma, I was naturally worried that stuff would get stuck in the infrastructural mess that followed, but to my surprise it ended up arriving promptly on the promised date.
