Ugh. If you are a student, you pay storage charges up front for a summer or a semester, so if you go over the storage time by even a day you end up paying double what you intended to pay. But that's not even the issue, since that is in their fine print. The issue is that these people are impossible to reach by phone. They picked up my son's belongings in May, but on their website there was nothing listed as being in storage for him to get back. The office was closed over Labor Day weekend, which is a very busy move-in weekend for students at the local universities, and they had a phone message saying nobody would be in their office answering their phone and that you should text this other number. Texting that number produced no results. Honestly, the best option for storage is to rent a storage unit and bring things to it yourself so that you don't get overcharged and jerked around by OnDemand storage. read more

AN AWFUL EXPERIENCE I used this company to store belongings over Summer 2017 with great success. As a result, I used them in 2018 as well, and urge anyone considering using this company to avoid doing so. OnDemand called me the day before my pick-up to ask to reschedule, promising a discount. I agreed to this. A charge was billed to my credit card but I never received an invoice, indicating that I'd received a discount. When I finally received an invoice (after repeated emails), I had not received the promised discount. Most problematically, when my belongings were returned, a desk was very damaged and a $200 rug was not returned at all. OnDemand has refused to provide any reimbursement, noting that I did not purchase insurance. At no point was the option to buy insurance made prominently available. Customer service has been slow to respond to my emails, often waiting until I have sent two or three over the course of several weeks. I will not be using this company again and I do not recommend using them either. read more

I go to college in Boston but live in California and it honestly was a struggle trying to find a place to store all my stuff when I was moving out of the dorms and back into another dorm for the following school year. I went onto google and searched for a storage place near me and the only one that looked pretty reliable based on their website and my research was OnDemand Storage. On top of that they seemed the most organized when it came to the different university's move in day and pick up times. After about 3-5 phone calls with customer service it seemed to be the best choice. The pick up guys were really nice and everything seemed to go smoothly, and I asked multiple workers after leaving a mini fridge how much it would cost and they all told me not to worry I will only get charged $70. Then I received my bill much later on and found out that I was billed $100. I was not told why or anything and I emailed to ask why. They told me even though it only cost $70 for my storage there is a $100 minimum which I was never informed about. I accepted it and was fine. Then when it was move in time I called the company multiple times before the move in day to tell them I was on a strict schedule due to my flight landing and some school events I had to attend to. They kept changing their delivery window which they expected me to be free. Also online it tells you that they will tell you 2 hours in advance when the driver arrives but that never happened. The drivers will text or call you about 5 mins before they come. It happened when I was moving out and so that is why I wanted to prevent this from happening during move in time when I picked up my stuff. I called their company multiple times and no one answered so I messaged them and recieved a very rude passive aggressive message from the company telling me that I should have considered the time slots if I know I am unavailable at the time. However, I only ask for a estimation of arrival time because there is no way I can wait 2 hours while I have places I have to go to. Then about 1 hour later I got my fridge back with a dent in it. (Also the company's storage is just a plain white truck with no logo or anything....) Takeaways: I don't think that the drivers are an issue because they are very nice and will help with anything you need however, the customer service side of the company is a mess and very rude at times. It seems as though once they have your business and your deposit they don't care about the rest about how they treat their customers or the service that they will provide. I only say the yelp posts after I put down my deposits so I wanted other students to see this from my experience. read more

First of all I never write reviews but had to in this case I recently used On Demand Storage. Using the web site, so easy! They can to my house picked up all of the things I needed to be stored AND they showed up when they said they would. The next day I realized that I had sent something in one of the boxes and I needed to get it back, called them, they brought it back promptly, took out what I needed and then they took the box back to storage. Who does that!!! So instead of me hiring a truck, loading it, unloading it, taking the truck back. These guys did it for the same price as me doing it on my own. This storage company is terrible. I used them to store my things for the summer of 2018 and from the moment they picked my things up, there were issues. I specifically told them that I would not be available during a certain time because I had a final earlier in the day. They told me this would not be a problem and proceeded to arrive in front of my building 20 minutes before my final exam. I had to rush to give them my things and then run to my final. Then, when they delivered all of my things to me, they said they could not seem to find my suitcase and that they'd go back to the truck and check to see if they forgot to grab it. They told me they'd give me a call and let me know. They never did and actually blocked my number after I kept calling to check. Long story short, they ignored my emails and my calls and never gave my suitcase back. They kept pretending that they were looking for it and actually lost it. All of my bedding was in that suitcase and I had to replace all of my stuff. When I finally was able to get a hold of them TWO months later they told me they would only give me $75 because I did not buy insurance. Mind you, the contents of the suitcase were well over $1,000 because all of my winter coats and boots, etc were also in there. The customer service was terrible considering that I had to chase them in order to get them to fix THEIR own mistake. They didn't even give me a full refund, they only refunded me for the cost of the suitcase they lost. I was disgusted by my experience and make a point to tell everyone who mentions storage to steer clear of this company if they love themselves. read more
