I was referred to this mover by the MIT furniture exchange. They said that YourMove was excellent. I was happy about this, because it is always great to find a good mover! What happened over the next week and a half was discouraging. I told them that I had a very restricted schedule (because I am a teacher). I cannot leave classes just because I have movers coming over. We tried to find a time, but it was hard. Eventually I asked my boss for a favor so I could get a time that would work. He let me out of a faculty meeting. This was a big favor. I worked hard to meet these movers halfway! But then on the day of the move, the movers called to say "Hey, we're done early today. Can we come to your place now?" It was TWO HOURS BEFORE THE AGREED TIME! I had to teach my class! What the hell? Who do these people think they are? I should leave work two hours earlier than OUR AGREED TIME just because it was MORE CONVENIENT FOR THE MOVERS? I tried to reach the dispatcher, Judy. I called her twice, but she didn't pick up. She claimed that she called me twice, but my phone said she hadn't. My phone ALWAYS picks up the missed calls. Her movers were certainly able to reach me via the same number. Judy said that she COULDN'T SEND THE MOVERS AT THE AGREED TIME BECAUSE SHE "DIDN'T WANT THEM WAITING AROUND FOR TWO HOURS." She said that over EMAIL. WHY ARE HER SCHEDULING ISSUES MY PROBLEM? It is not my problem! A DEAL IS A DEALl! I CALLED IN A FAVOR FROM MY BOSS SO I COULD BE THERE AT A TIME CONVENIENT FOR THE MOVERS, AND THEN THEY DON'T SHOW UP??? Too bad, favor wasted, because YOUR MOVE MOVERS DIDN'T WANT TO DO THEIR JOBS. When I talked to Judy on the phone, to her credit, she apologized tepidly. But she also said that nothing could be done about it. She made it seem like SHE was doing ME a favor by agreeing for such a late move time (4pm to 5pm). "Movers start early. The work hard and they finish early." She said she worked really hard to find a time for me, she really did me a favor. Great, that would have been nice IF THEY HAD SHOWN UP. You said 4-5PM, BE THERE AT 4-5PM! AND DON'T ACT LIKE YOU ARE _DOING_ME_A_FAVOR_BY_DOING_YOUR_JOB! Who do these people think they are? I cancelled my order. I will not be using them. I will be using someone else. This is flabbergasting, unacceptable. I can't hand over money to people who do such a miserable job with their customer service. Use someone else, someone who actually cares about their customers. Judy lost my sale, and broke a promise just because she can't schedule properly and because she didn't want to have her movers "sitting around for two hours" because she didn't have anything scheduled for them. Maybe she saved money by doing that, but she made me a furious fucking customer. I will make sure none of my friends ever use this service. Nice job, guys. read more

I am about to use this company for the FOURTH time. They are consistently kind, cautious, and quick. Two of these moves involved a piano. Yes, a piano, and it was a great success. Also they are a reasonably priced, small, local business, and this shows through in my interactions with the owner and his employees, which is a very good thing. I owe these movers for my transition from a user to a contributing Yelper. I first came across these guys when they moved our newly bought furniture from the MIT Furniture Exchange (review coming soon). They are the preferred movers for that place and charged a real low rate. However, when I had to move from Brookline to Cambridge, they were not my top choice. That was Fabio Movers, as they were based in Brookline. But I could not get a date (this is Boston and I was moving during the moving season). Anyways, I called these guys up and Rick (a real big guy!) came down for a survey. Took a deposit and told me to expect his team on moving day. Moving Day: They were there, ON TIME!! The move was accomplished real fast. We were planning to accompany the them in a cab (no car here) but they offered to give us a ride. So, we left Brookline in style - in a moving truck!! I won't be moving for the next two years but when I do, these are the guys. Things to know - - They take a $100 deposit to confirm the arrangement. - Charge from base to base. read more

BEST. MOVE. EVER. They showed up early. They were unbelievably nice. They walked me through the contract (no sneaky business, no crazy fees). They moved my furniture in record-setting time. They placed my things in the correct room, in the intended place and even gave me a bit of room behind big pieces to allow lamp cords and cables to be connected. They hoisted my eight-foot couch up two flights of stairs with incredible grace and zero complaints. They didn't leave a single scratch on my hardwood floors or track dirty footprints over the carpet. They even offered to help me assemble my bed after they'd finished (ahead of schedule). After all was said and done, I came out $50 less than estimated. While I hope I don't have to move again for a long time, I would call these guys back in a heartbeat if I had to. Your Move made a great impression on us. Unfortunately, they had the wrong street name and did not come to the right place, delaying our start time by half an hour. However, they did not charge us for the lost time and I was so impressed overall with the rest of the move that I cannot fault them for that. (No one has ever heard of that street anyway...) They were very professional and friendly, went above and beyond in taking care of our stuff, and made the whole process way less painful than I was expecting. read more

They don't tell you the terms of the contract before you reserve the movers - our movers only worked one hour despite charging us for two, because some of our furniture was not on a list - on the phone we were not told the list was a contract but that it was an estimate. We were charged for an extra hour of work and they refused to even move our bed out of the room. Also they charged us for 15 minutes travel each way to get from their office to our apartment - we live on Lincoln parkway, this is literally three blocks from their office at 19 Adrian street. Edit: they called back and refunded us a half hour but still did not move our bed, I'll give them back a star for that. read more

We had the best experience with this company today. Our crew led by Chris was extremely efficient attentive friendly and FAST. They finished our move in just three hours. I've never had an easier move in day. This is a family run business and it's clear in the product. They are very good at what they do. Also - we shopped around and price wise you cannot beat them. I used Your Move to move from my apartment in Boston to my new apartment in Cambridge. I set up the move with Judy over the phone and email. She was great at responding to all my questions promptly. On the day of the move Leo and Chris came to do it. They kept in contact to let me know when they would arrive. They quickly and carefully packed all my belongings into their truck. They were also very careful moving into my new place taking care to not scratch the wood floors. The move was quick and without any issues. I would definitely use True Move again. Their rates were very competitive. I decided to go with them because they had the best rate and they were available. I hope that Leo and Chris will be the movers I get the next time I need to move. Your Move was excellent! My boyfriend and I were moving from two separate apartments into a new apartment. The movers were polite, careful, and efficient. They arrived promptly at 8am and finished the move by 2pm. We had way more furniture than they had anticipated (it's my fault for not warning them), but the movers politely and calmly managed to fit all of it into the moving truck. When we realized that all our furniture didn't fit in new apartment, the movers carted away the extra furniture for free (to donate to MIT Furniture Exchange). The cost of ~$100 per hour is standard/on the lower end for the area. I will definitely use them again. read more

This is the worst moving company I have ever used. Please think twice. Their quote seemed amazing and now I understand why people say cheaper is not always cheaper. Their quote was for 5-6 hours with three movers at $150 an hour. I had a few other moving companies that I was talking to, but my friend personally referred me to this company, and no one could beat that rate. The company came to my house and did a walk through for the quote. He saw everything I had in the house, which I mostly moved everything but furniture, myself. And we went through a detailed list of what they would actually be moving, since I planned to do most of it myself. The list of items that they actually did move was less than what I had on their the day of the move. So, the day of the move came. All seemed ok at first. Pretty much all but four furniture items were out and I told them the couches will only fit out the back door. I am 9 months pregnant and had to go rest, but was wondering why the trucked wasn't ready to go (my fault for not micromanaging them) and come to see that they have my couch wedged in the stairway of the front door. I told them that I specifically told you the couch could not go through the front door, so they told me it doesn't fit out the back. I said that is the way it came in, so we went back to the back door they tried again. It doesn't work, so then after a half hour of talking about how it doesn't work they decided they should turn it upside down and try again. Oh, magically that worked. Then the other piece didn't fit because of the railing. So I simply suggested they take the railing off. Well, come to find out, they charged me an extra hour to take the railing off, which took 5 minutes to take off and 5 to put back on, while I watched. When I got to my new house, I did tell the original guy who quoted me that I was on the first floor, come to find out I'm actually on the second floor, so that part was my fault, but they stated I'm on the third floor. My apartment number is 26. Its the second floor. The third floor is numbered in the threes. So they get my furniture in and I see one of my bureaus is damaged. So after, all was done, I was almost two hours over quote with damaged furniture. I'm thankful I moved as much stuff myself that I did. The company offered me a measly $50 for my damaged furniture and told me a quote is just a quote. So after spending almost $300 more than I was quoted and now had damaged furniture, I go out side hours later to find that they left my toolbox outside. They were using it to prop the door open and when they left, they simply kicked it out of the way to shut the door, and left it out on the curb. Unbelievable! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I would have rather used the more expensive company and I probably would have paid less and wouldn't have damaged furniture. read more

We used a team of three movers from Your Move. They were polite, friendly, and efficient. I couldn't believe how fast they loaded and unloaded the moving truck, while being careful not to scratch the walls and floors with the furniture. My husband and I were blown away by the service and professionalism that Leo and Shawn provided us yesterday. We were donating furniture to the MIT community, and MIT uses Your Move to pick up & deliver the furniture. Even in the sweltering heat, they managed the move with what I can only call Grace. They were friendly, thoughtful, efficient, and did I mention strong? One of the sofas had to be taken out through the front window, and they handled this with great mastery and care. My wife and I have used YourMove for two moves now. The most recent one was from a 2nd floor apartment in Somerville to a single family home in Lexington. The team was able to complete the move in just under four hours. They showed up early, were professional, and exercised great care while still moving very quickly. These guys are AWESOME! We went with Your Move to move across town in Cambridge and we couldn't be happier with the results. (I also never write reviews but felt I had to for these guys.) Leo and Nick were our movers and they were professional, skilled, fast, efficient, and very easy to get along with. They accomplished feats we didn't think possible. My husband and I were dreading how we were going to get our big sectional couch out of our current place and into the new place. They skillfully maneuvered around a light fixture and tight staircase by adapting on the spot and removing posts from the couch and taking off the light fixture. I was very impressed with them throughout the entire process. Interracting with the business itself was also very easy. They are fast and responsive through email and very clear and up front about rates. Everything they said they were going to do, they did. I can't recommend these guys enough.
