I feel like this place gets a bad rap - so I wanted to update ------------------ currently still overwhelmingly pleased. had a recent situation where two people i knew had a falling out and one was forced to move immediately - it was 11 at night and she was panicking and then i remembered this place! had her load up the car and right when they opened we headed over and had 0 issues. as i mentioned in my previous post I collect clothing to donate and during covid business has been booming (and by that i mean 0 profit but holy cow so many clothes) (i dont think i mentioned i live in a tiny ***** studio though) long story short its 4:30 am and this gal is about to rent herself another unit! idk if we can upload videos to yelp but imma update with pictures or something when i get there. oh also - - dollies are built with evil in them. -its not public storages fault. -ive been to other units. -they all suck. buy a cheap one off amazon or see if you can find an abandoned shopping cart or hey, why not grab some rollerblades and really make a day of it (i guess in this scenario... you're the dollie?) i dont know man. but i watched a lil grandma navigate one like a savage the other day so - maybe its just years of mastering the technique?? haha end ramble ---- read more

NEGATIVE STARS RUUUUUUN from this absolute SHAM business I had to get this storage space through my company as they were relocating me to the UK, and at the time, it was privately owned. This is the THIRD owner of this space and it is an absolute RACKET. DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT ever use this business!!!!!!! not only are they unprofessional bordering on criminal with their policies (they sold the company and let me know the day of that it was sold and there was zero option to opt out of the new owners, change payment, do anything) the space is seriously not kept up at all - there was a roof leak recently and my space was damaged because there is nothing over the individual spaces but the main gigantic roof which has major water issues especially in winter (hello New England) STAY AWAY FROM THIS CRIMINAL EXTORTIONIST EVIL COMPANY the absolute WORST! won't protect your belongings, takes zero responsibility for their SOLE purpose, evil evil evil extortionist assholes. They are very eager to whack you with fees the moment you are late and hound you over it. I have paid consistently for seven months and yes on a couple of occasions been late. Lien fees.....late fees and threats to auction your unit off and sell your things are quickly thrown around. Coming out of a pandemic in a situation where money may be tight for people (that would be me) you'd think maybe they would have a bit more flexibility. Great management and staff. The storage area is very clean. The app is fantastic for general information, billing and access to the storage.

Yesterday we were in the process of clearing out our storage unit, and had a series of unpleasant experiences. To start off with, there were only two dollies for the entire building, which meant that they were being used by other customers for the first 2 hours we were there. It's utterly ridiculous that there'd be that few carts to use, especially on a busy day like the end of the month. I also noted that several wall fixtures were broken and we saw a mouse running through the halls. My first encounter with the only employee on duty, who later identified himself as Iury, was when I tried to use the bathroom on site. The door was locked and there was no sign or other indication that you needed a key from the office. After fetching the key, I found that both the paper town holder and toilet paper holder were empty. I went to the office and was told that I couldn't have any paper towels, because "people take them" and "unfortunately I still have to give you toilet paper." A little while later, as we were loading our truck, Iury walked by, asked if we'd thrown any trash in the dumpster, then claimed he'd seen us doing this on video. He then informed us a charge would be added to our account. I assumed I'd deal with it later, and continued clearing out the storage unit. Once we'd finished clearing out the unit, I asked Iury to check it and agree that it was clean and empty. He refused. At this point I asked him for his name at least three times and he refused. We finished loading our truck and I headed into the office to close out the account. Iury handed me a desk phone with his district manager, Andrew Berg on it. Andrew informed me that he had video of us throwing trash in the dumpster, there would be a $1500 fine for doing so, and our account would stay open until their trash people could come empty the dumpster. I asked for a copy of the video and he said he could share it with me in a few weeks. Iury gave me Andrew's card and finally told me his name. My friend and I stepped outside the office to discuss the situation. At this point Iury locked the door, put up a sign saying he'd be back before 5 and disappeared. It was about 3pm at this point and we'd finished loading our truck. I then tried to call Andrew twice, both times leaving voicemail. We took at look at the dumpster at that point, which was full of far more trash than we'd have been able to fit in our storage locker and had quite a few items which I'd seen other Public Storage customers hauling out earlier that day, making it fairly clear we were the only ones being harassed like this. Eventually Iury returned, after about 45 minutes. At this point, we told Iury that while we hadn't left anything in the dumpster and didn't believe he had any video of us doing so, we'd take a portion of his trash away to get finished. Iury told us he was unable to do anything for us and that we should call Andrew back. I told him we had twice, and Iury said he'd text Andrew. It was a little before 4 at this point. So I spent the next half hour posting on Public Storage's social media and calling their corporate office to try and get in touch with Andrew. At about 4:30, Andrew called me back and said that if we removed some of the trash, that'd be fine by him. Iury then told us we needed to remove all the black plastic bags at the dumpster, regardless of the fact that quite a few of them had papers spilling out with other people's financial information on them. We removed the trash bags from the premises, and Iury told me he'd go verify this and close out our account in the morning. I told him this was unacceptable, and with a great deal of rudeness, he agreed to come verify that we'd actually removed the trash bags. If the way Andrew Berg and Iury handled this matter is typical of Public Storage, I'm incredibly happy to no longer be a customer of their's. read more

Pros: The place is always very clean and well lit. It's always dry and secure. I have only once had trouble accessing my storage locker and that was because it was after 10pm. Cons: Getting use of one of the functioning dollies is difficult, especially if it's a weekend day. The staff can be somewhat unhelpful. They have slowly increased my rent from $75 a month to $150 a month over the course of four years. If you are late with your rent they slap hefty fines on you. read more

I hate how this place raised the rent from a little over $200 to over $500 during the period I've rented. I don't think anything else has increased in price at anything close to that rate. It was convenient but I'm sick of the stealth rate increases. They are GREEDY. read more

We've been renting from Public Storage for nearly 3 years, rent is paid on-time every month with auto pay. During this period we've experienced water damage on 2 occasions (water coming in from an adjacent unit, the other from a faulty roof). Our belongings were damaged - Public Storage could only offer to relocate us to a lower level. Our rent continued to increase regardless of water damage and inquiries from us. Even now during a pandemic, Public Storage continues to increase rent. I've tried calling several times; our calls are rarely responded to and when they are, we've been bounced from one representative to another, with no resolution. This has left us extremely frustrated and dissatisfied. read more

Warning!! They signed me up, then jacked up the monthly rate over 50% in the first year. The facilities are far worse than the place I came from (uncle bobs storage). Hidden extras you have to pay for (they have a policy on what type of lock you have to use - you have to buy it from them if you didn't know in advance). Possibly one of the worse customer service experience I have ever had. Be careful if you make any confirmed reservation online with a special offer or deal because once you get to location you may be told that that offer does not exist just so they can up-sell you. I had made a reservation online for a 7.5X5 unit for an $80 monthly fee. I had called corporate to confirm and to make sure there were no fine prints and they assured me that the unit size and fee were confirmed. Upon arriving at the location, Lamond, the employee who helped me, informed me that that deal did not exist. Instead, that same unit size would cost me $180. He insisted that the next best thing would be a smaller unit that would cost me $99 that month and then $130 every month there after. He also stated that since I planning to vacate within a month (I would move to my new place 3rd of the following month), the days I stayed would be pro rated. I went back home and explained to my husband how that promo did not exist. We decided to call corporate again to confirm that deal and as it turns out, I was denied my initial reservation with promotional rate for no good reason other than an attempt to make an extra buck (not sure if employees get some sort of incentive as far as sales). When I returned later that same day very upset (and rightfully so) to cancel/change my reservation with my also upset husband, the ability of the employees there, Lamond included, to deal with the situation appropriately was non existent. They were nothing short of rude and offensive. Begrudgingly due to the timing of things we decided to just deal with it and moved our belongings in one of their units for the month. I vacated and moved on the 5th of the following month which was a Saturday, as opposed to the 3rd which was a Thursday that I had originally mentioned to Lamonde. Well, turns out that there was a fine print and bad communication on Lamond's part who was too busy up selling to clarify the circumstances of the exception they were making. Contrary to what I was told, they DO NOT pro rate any days and you have to pay the entire month's fee. At this point, I did get in touch with the district manager,Drew, and although he was nice enough and compromised with me with that fee (offered me half off the original $130) he also didn't seem too eager to ensure one of their customers left completely satisfied nor did he try to rectify the situation that had occurred a month prior. Bottom line, if you are looking for a storage unit you are better off looking elsewhere. Public Storage is a complete SCAM and they couldn't care less about their customers. You can find a place just as clean and safe at 100 other locations. Side note, be careful not to be tricked into paying $20 for their locks! They don't tell you that you are paying for that. Instead they just add the amount in the total. All in all, VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. read more

The only good experience I had here was with Jieka who assisted me when I moved out. Everything else was bad. I was told by Lamond over the phone that I would get the $1 first month promotion on the unit I'd reserved through the website, but upon arriving he refused and charged me the full $149, plus a mandatory insurance fee. I had asked if I could use my own lock and was told no, I had to pay them for one. I later found out that was a lie. They eventually credited my account for the lock fee, but shouldn't have lied about it to begin with. I spoke with the district manager Andrew about the discrepancy regarding the promotion and was dismissed outright despite an employee telling me I was eligible. Lastly, this facility doesn't even try to pretend to be handicap accessible. The only curb cut near the only handicap space is blocked if there's a car parked in the adjacent space. Once you get inside the gate, there's a 2" curb along the entire entrance, meaning customers in wheelchairs wouldn't be able to access it at all without some risky maneuvers that not everyone is even capable of attempting. I mentioned this on social media and was assured they would immediately investigate and make it accessible, but a few months later nothing at all has changed. Don't use this facility. If you're in a position where it's the only option for you, get everything in writing. I'm relieved to have emptied my unit and will never go back to this overpriced scam. read more

I don't know what others expect but this is what I expect: - safe: 5 star - clean: 5 star - customer service: 5 star - convenient: 5 star They's storage units. They're clean, climate controlled and very inexpensive for Boston (I got quotes from $220 - $520 / month for 10X30 units). I choose this not because they were at the low end but because other people I've met in the area recommended them (I'm new to the area). I expected them to be a bit ragged since they were at the low end of pricing. But not at all. Clean lobby/office, clean hallways, clean units. No paint peeling, no dings/damage. It's easy to find (thats important in Boston as it's a confusing area if you're new to the area). Very accessible. When I completed an inquiry on-line, I got an immediate call that was professional, courteous, and direct. No hidden fees, everything was explicitly stated. When I showed up the gentleman in the office (Gary?) was great. Very helpful. Walked me to my unit to inspect it, answered all my questions about access and showed me all the ways to access the unit. Explained how I could make it simple on move in day. Since I am new to the area, he even gave me pointers to local venues, etc. read more

I have been renting a unit at this facility for six months. I called to inquire at what date after the 1st of each month (due date) does a $27.00 late fee apply to my account. The manager, Ashley, either chose to ignore my question, didn't understand it or was trying to hide some billing impropriety. She told me the late fee applied today (4-7-17) when I paid my bill. I asked if I had paid on the yesterday (6th) would the late fee apply? She wouldn't answer me and continued to restate that anything paid after the 1st was "late" and continually asked if I received a notice of a rate increase--completely irrelevant to my question. The experience was frustrating and makes me wonder about the billing process and the resistance to giving a straight answer. read more

Alexis and Tori were professional and helpful with getting us the storage unit we needed. Location is good and units are clean. The downside is there are only two carts for the whole facility, and one of which the wheels don't even work. My other problem was that the two carts needed to be returned into the office before they closed, which is silly. Since weekend closing hours are already so early. We were not able to finish unpacking our things because a lot of time was spent waiting for one of the two carts to become available, and once that happened it was closing time so we had to stop using them. read more

Not very happy with unexpected price increase of $25. I was told that the letter was sent in the mail but I didn't receive it. The lady on 1-800 number was not helpful and it took me 3 days to reach someone on the phone. I tried to pay over the phone but their charge $10 fee for paying over the phone. The price that they offer online is not what you will be paying, they find a way to charge you more money for insurance of $11 per month or it might be more. The location is fairly secure, bathrooms are not clean and there are only 2 dollies available for the whole storage unit, which is mission impossible to get on the weekend. This could be the worst Public Storage I have ever rented from! Before you go in you need to understand that the female employee (would love to say her name but I wont) who sits behind the desk has ZERO customer service skills but a MAJOR attitude. She does not know how to help people or even listen, then when you ask to speak to a manager they give you a cell phone that goes to a voice mail for a John (who is apparently the VP in the area) but is way too busy or important to call you back, no matter how many times you call him or how urgent you explain to his voice mail the situation is. They do NOT prorate your rent if you are checking out on the 15th (sometime this is how your schedule works!!) Then when you try to talk to the Corporate Office they just listen and say SORRY. They raise your rent every year, not caring how long you have been there, which being a renter of apartments I get that, but even my landlords stopped raising my rent after the 2nd year! I have rented from Public Storage places before but I will NEVER EVER EVER rent from these crooks again!! The only reason I will give 1 star is because when there is a man working behind the counter he is very nice and very respectful! read more

SCAM ALERT!!!!! Let me start by saying I haven't left this unit yet and already I am getting the run around. I was told one thing by Lamond and another thing by Daniel. When I rented I said I would not need the full cost of the month of August, Lamond said, "We will pro-rate up to 6 days, after that you pay for the full month". He also told me, "give us 30 days notice so you don't get charged for the full month-so we can stop auto pay". So today, July 2nd I call and get Daniel (the other manager)-I give my 30 days notice that we are vacating on the 2nd of August. Daniel says that I do have to pay for the full month. He keeps referring to the contract. Well frankly they give you a ton to sign and initial and Lamond told me something and as a manager I trusted him. I have a call in to the district manager. I will update if this resolves well...but I know the U-haul and other local places don't work like this. This is typical BAIT-SWITCH and I will do everything I can to warn people about Public Storage and this location in particular. Also 1 cart for a huge warehouse. Really??? When I asked about this they said, "people take them". Well put a device on them and replace them. I waited quite a while to get a cart...I thought public storage was one of the better organization-don't let the bright colors fool you. read more

I don't have a lot of experience with storage facilities but I can tell you what I experienced here. I worked with Jay and she was very knowledgable about how everything worked and all the literature involved with renting a facility. Apart from being super friendly and welcoming she got me set up in the system and made sure I was aware of everything involved with renting a unit, how payments and insurance worked and all the generalities involved within the storage unit world. I feel very comfortable with my decision and hope anyone on the fence with making this choice understands how easy it really is. You're in good hands here! read more

Public Storage on Mystic Ave in Medford, Massachusetts was okay, but the 10' by 5' unit I rented is now advertised for $120/ month--about what I started with 6 years ago. This month, I paid $170/ month. They raise the rent each year. I have another storage unit elsewhere which has not raised the rent once during the same six years. $50/month extra for benig a loyal customer? I'm OUT!!! read more

Public Storage is a total scam. I need to move out my storage unit...did my storage move for today. paid my storage through the 15th of this month. guess what They do not prorate your rent when you are moving out past the 6th (they only prorate when you move in) You have to pay for a full month if you are still in that month past the 6th - whether you want to move out on the 8th, 10th or 12th..you still have to for a full month - thats bullshit! they can prorate your rent moving in but not moving out? bullshit. Oh and I lost my keys to my unit. I went up there last month to get my lock cut off so I can replace it with a new lock. Young man laughed at me and said I had to get a lock smtih - I was like what?! I never had a storage place that did not cut locks off. I mean shit if I was behind on my rent and they wanted to auction my shit they would cut off my lock then right? He told me to come back when the manager was at the property. I decided I just wanted to move so I said I would wait until I come back to move out. I rented a uhual and ask a friend who lived 25 miles away to help me move out of the storage - got to property and was told that I had to hire a locksmith to cut my locks off because the manager only cuts locks off once a month and that it was already done so it was my responsibility to hire a lock smith. They only do lock cut offs once a month and they do not keep bolt cutters on property - WHAT?! I jst walked out I didnt even say a word. I went back to get the managers number and the young lady told she was the manager - I said you just told me to call the manager - she said I said the district manager - so I said can I have her number. She said she doesnt work weekends - I said Im not going to call her today. When I got home I called the number. - guess what?!!? the number was wrong. I called customer service and he explained to me that not only was he not going to waived the 25 late fee charge they gave me - after I already scheduled a move out for May 12th because I was a new customer and they only do it to customers that been their for a year but he assured me I would have to get a lock smith and see if I am lucky to get the district manager to come out and cut my lock off. I called the number he gave me just to see if it was a real number and it was! I will be calling the district manager to see if she can cut my lock off and waived the damn 25 dollar late fee! I will never use public storage again - NEVER!! read more
