When you first move in they make it seem as if your things are safe then a few months or a year out issues develop. My unit was ROBBED and the lock was put back on the door. They claim that the cameras work but its a LIE. They rob random units as an inside job and decline the insurance you are forced to take when you sign the contract. On YouTube there are many people complaining about this very issue. BE CAREFUL Public Storage is at the TOP of the list of this. There we go, new rent just raised again (averaging 3x / year so far) to $472/mo for a 7.5x10 sized spade. If you're following at home I was at $256 just two years ago. That's an EIGHTY-FIVE PERCENT INCREASE in just two years. Beware, beware!! I'm echoing what others have said, it's Lisa that makes this location worth renting at. I'm giving 5 Stars for her specifically. She is an absolute pleasure as a human being and she is remarkably helpful and informative. She called me one weekend when I hadn't latched the door of my unit properly. I don't visit my space often so it could have been unsecured for months if she hadn't taken the time to do they. Lisa gets an unmitigated 5 stars. As others have said, do read your contract, pay attention to your email communication, note the available hours of the facility and expect regular and significant increases if you keep the space longer term. read more

Honestly, it's the staff at this location that are saving this company from a bad review. Their policies and prices are awful (be sure to READ YOUR CONTRACT!!), but the manager, Lisa, and her assistant Brenda, are so kind, patient and helpful that they are the only reason we have stayed and not taken our business elsewhere!!! Well that, and it's a pain in the butt to move They keep the facility immaculate, they run a tight ship ESPECIALLY in an area known for being overrun by crackheads and homeless vagrants, and they do it all with a smile! This is worst company I ever dealt with. I was homeless as of November 2023 and I rented 2 u its in Broadway Everett MA location. I was living out of my car, couch surfing and trying to just live. Public Storage auctioned off my units with my whole life inside there on August 27 2024. I had my two sons stuff from infancy to adult hood, my deceased brother who was a police officer and my deceased mother's personal wake and funeral items. I had pictures of family members, my wedding albums and very personal items that I was told was supposed to to be returned to facility for me. I called numerous times and was told nothing was left except two boxes that did not contain any of the pictures or personal effects. I contacted corporate office and local office to ask if they would notify the person who had won the auction just so I could have personal effects returned all I got was no can't do that. I offered to pay for the items I just wanted pictures returned. They said auction company had to which was told nope can't help. They don't care about people's hardships or mishaps they care about the bottom line and even after the auction I still had to pay remaining balance which I did right away. They are rude, ignorant and have no regard for people. If I could post a bulletin stating all this I would, not that Public Storage would care. I will post on every site I possibly can if anybody has any suggestions. I've tried going on FB Marketolace and Craigslist everyday hoping I'll see something of mine but haven't see a thing. read more

Second time to rents a unit at this location. Lisa is a gem, while I booked online, she noticed that I had challenges ( multiple attempts) and kindly called and offered help. Do NOT rent with them. You will lose money. If you're homeless and needing to stores your items find family members for your children's things and memories. Sell all you got because renting with life storage for a year will cost you your down payment on a new car, home or apartment. They are NOT worth dealing with. I moved in to public storage before the end of the month and they prorated the month to move in but when I went to move out , because of course you can't move into apartments until the 1st if the month , so I called to let them know I'd be moving out on the third and asked them to prorate it at which point I was told I'd have to call a manger- after leaving several messages and waiting over a week to hear back I get a call saying that they are going to charge me an entire month for the three days! I explained that that was not in the lease nor was it explained to me because I would have just went with the one down the street that I know for a fact prorates because I used them before. He says they don't prorate but they clearly did for me to move it but not to move out! Just knowing that most people won't move out until the 1st or around that day the deliberately make it so you will have to pay extra! Then they get paid twice for that month when they rent it to someone else! read more

Public Storage is a terrible company. My lease rate was raised 30% after 5 months. Customer service is unbearable. Company has no compassion to hike rates on customers during a pandemic. Also the south Hampton st location is messy and dirty. With weird people in and around the property. Wouldn't go there alone read more

Public Storage cheats buyers out of space. I rented a 5x5 space but that space could barely hold a 4 foot shelf. I brought a tape measure in and measured from the back wall. 5 feet went out into the hallway. They tried to address it and the customer service tried to argue that it's an approximate size. Being a little off is one thing but if you pay for a 5x5 space (25 sq in) and are provided with a 4x4 space (16 sq in) you're being cheated out of 9 sq in, which is 36% of your space. A company that's going to cheat you out of that much space and still charge you shouldn't be trusted. read more

I have used this location for business and personal use for quite some time now. I find this location in Boston to be conveniently located along major roadways. The facility is extremely clean, and well lit. It is well maintained and recently had renovations. Lisa and Stephanie are professional, caring and upbeat. They have both helped me on many occasions and Lisa in particular can be found working most of the days I have been in. She is a hard worker and any professional organization would be lucky to have her. In fact they need to figure out a way to clone her so there are more people like her working there. If you don't want a headache and you want your peace of mind. Do not. I say it again do not rent with this place. It is the most frustrating thing ever to try and get to your unit and you can't because you are only allowed access when they say so. So if you have a job that gets it at 5 forget bout trying to get here while trying to beat the traffic. Since they changed the building hours, it is nearly impossible to get to your unit before closing. They used to be open early, I believe by 7am and allow gate access until 9pm, but now you can only access your unit when the office is open. They close the gate at 5:45, so even if you beat the Boston traffic, forget about it. This sucks for those who work long days and have a full time job. Consider a facility that actually has reasonable hours. Don't waste your time paying $300 for an overpriced unit that you can't access. read more

The people at the desk are friendly and helpful (although when we first went to rent a unit there was no one in the office during office hours, we had to wait about 45 minutes for someone to return - not good). The place is climate controlled (my previous place did not have that - my leather items were frozen solid). It is pretty clean inside. There is a gate to get in, with access code, so it would be difficult for random people to slip inside. My previous place was scary that way - anyone could sneak in behind you, as the entrance was far from the office. Now for the negatives: only 3 carts! The other day they were all in use. The woman pleasantly told me if we saw someone with 2 carts to ask them nicely if we could use one. HOW ABOUT GETTING A FEW MORE CARTS?? Also, when you do have a cart and load it up, there is a slight curb so that if you have a heavy cart it is very difficult to push it over the bump. HOW ABOUT MAKING A SMOOTH LITTLE RAMP??? Also, the restroom was not very clean, and this was in the morning. PLEASE CLEAN RESTROOM regularly. And finally, as I said before, office SHOULD BE STAFFED AT ALL TIMES DURING OFFICE HOURS. read more

I had a unit here for less than 6 months until it was broken into. It looks like someone just pulled the door forward to open it and bent the bolt - they did not cut my lock or anything. This presumably means that any unit that has a door that pulls forward can be easily broken into. The doors that 'slide up' to open should be more secure. Other than bending the bolt back straight (which clearly did nothing other than provide the illusion of security), the facility did not offer any compensation. Horrible. They give you a deal with the "online sign up" or some other deal. At the end of the "deal", they raise their prices by (in my case) 20%, and THEN up another 25% at the end of the year due to a "change in the facility taxes". B.S!!! They KNOW once you have your stuff in there for more than 6 months, you just don't have the room for it so they KILL you with a rate hike hoping that you don't pull your stuff out. The reality is, there are people waiting for your space so they don't care, and it's evident. It's cheaper to buy a bigger house or build an addition. Just horrible.... read more

I have stored stuff at Public Storage in other cities. The experience at this location is entirely different. It is a beautiful probably new building. Access is simple and easy. But most of all, it's the people. As far as I can tell there are two of them and both are friendly, polite, good conversationalists while doing stuff on the computer for you, and just all around professionals. read more

This place is a scam. Do not go here! They make you pay for a full month (it wound up being $180) up front with no refunds. They even tried to make me pay a month and a half, luckily I realized what was happening and only had to pay for one month. I never moved my stuff in, and after three days I told them I didn't want the unit anymore and asked for some type of refund. My request was denied. Then, they refused to take my lock off and said they would charge me for another month if I didn't go out of my way to remove my lock myself, even though I told them to remove it. Also of note, there is a U-Haul Storage right across the street with much better prices. Shame on me for not realizing this before, but I would like to warn everyone else. Wallet draining, costs more than other storage places. I did business with this place for years, and each time I witnessed the dumpster overflowing with everything imaginable, so I ONCE and only once left an item next to it. When I came in to pay the following month, I was screamed at like a child. I highly doubt she yells at everyone in the same manner, considering what I saw there over time. Overall I dont think they are bad people, but it was weird considering the reaction I got vs other customers whom I am sure have done worse than that. read more
