Sorbet (dessert as part of OCRW)
Katherine N.

I have to give a rating of 3 stars for my visit to Prime Cut Cafe. I came to try their OCRW menu. I ordered the filet mignon stroganoff and carrot cake and my husband ordered the prime rib and sorbet. I would say the food was 3.5. Not terrible but nothing mind blowing. I also got a pomegranate lemon drop martini and it was so horrible. Tasted like cough syrup. I had my husband try and my friends sipped a bit and they all agreed. I had to send it back and I got a different drink. The worst part of the experience for me was finding out that they use peanut oil in a lot of their cooking. As a parent of a child with peanut allergy - it was stressful to say the least. Pretty much all of the kids menu was cooked with peanut oil because a lot of the food is fried. I will probably not come back due to the peanut oil.

The food is excellent. My Top Sirloin, Maine Lobster, and mashed potatoes with green beans were sinful. The mashed potatoes are absolutely delicious. A squeeze of lemon and a slight dip in the butter had my Lobster popping with flavor in my mouth. The Top Sirloin was prepared just as I requested. I wish it would've been one whole piece instead of 3 nuggets. The medium cooked Prime Hanger Steak was delicious as well. Just wish they would've let it rest before slicing it and serving it with blood surrounding the plate. Those mashed potatoes I would come back for! The restaurant is setup nicely with a variety of seating options.

Been wanting to come and try this place for a long time. Happy that even though many restaurants near by have come and gone this place is still here. Made reservations for my parents anniversary. Very happy I brought them here. Although they had already previously visited this place, they were happy to return for the great food and welcoming atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and attentive. The restaurant was clean both inside and the patio areas. Restrooms were very clean as well. Great selection of beer and cocktails. Even though this is a steakhouse, they did have some great non- steak options like salmon and burgers and salads. Very happy I stopped by, wil definitely l be returning.

It's been a few years since I've been to Prime Cut Cafe and it's still as good as I remembered. I was in the plaza to watch a movie at the Cinemark Theaters next door. We came for an early dinner around 5pm and it was already pretty crowded. I got the petite cut prime rib with garlic sautéed spinach side. The prime rib was cooked perfectly at medium rare, the way I asked for it. My friends asked for medium and well done, their orders were cooked to perfection too. The meat was juicy and tender with the au jus being flavorful but not salty. The garlic sautéed spinach tasted very fresh and flavorful. We had to rush to catch our movie so we didn't get a chance to try other food or desserts, I would love to try it next time. The restaurant is part of a big busy shopping plaza, there is free parking but when it's busy you will have circle around to find parking. The wait staff was very nice and attentive.

We experienced such great service from the time that we walked in until the second that we left. The host (he gave his name, and I forgot what it was, sorry!) and server, Matt, were very welcoming. The restaurant was quiet although there was a good amount of people there enjoying their meals with family/friends. I was able to see the baseball game on the TV in the bar from where I was sitting in the main dining area. Anyway, on to the food! We were told about the current specials, we were offered meal suggestions, and were advised that happy hour was still happening. We didn't partake in any of those offerings, but it was great to know that they were available. We decided on the Devilish Eggs to start with, and the Prime Cut Cheeseburger (with no tomato) and the Bacon-Blue Burger. The burgers come with the most delicious thin cut fries, fried in peanut oil. I asked for a side of bleu cheese dressing as my dipping sauce for my fries. It was a great bleu cheese, very chunky, just how I like it. The burger patties are freshly house-ground Angus chuck meat. You can really taste, and appreciate, the fresh meat. I really enjoyed my food, I will definitely come back soon!

This review is between 4 and a 5, as I had no complaints. I laughed when I saw previous review as now it's 3 for roughly $60 plus some meals are a little extra. Josh was our server nice and attentive. Made a couple of minor switches for us. I had 2 House Old Fashions good and a reasonable price. My husband had a glass of the Pinot Grigio also priced reasonable for our times. I had the Apple salad which I usually have and my husband had the butternut squash soup, which was quite good. We both got the Sea Bass, crab (just a little bit) and Shrimp Oscar. We ate everything with no complaints. Both came with vegetables s and potatoes. We took carrot cake to go but ate it later. It wasn't too sweet and just the right size. It wasn't too noisy but most of the tables were full for a wonderful Christmas Eve night.

A glass of wine before the Ducks game

We came here on a Sunday before a Anaheim Ducks game. It was busy, so we just grabbed seats at the bar. We got our glasses of wine quick, but the food took a very long time. We ordered a burger and a filet mignon salad (to be prepared medium rare, but it was well done). The Chargers game was on all 4 TVs. It's not a bad place to come for a casual dinner, but it's not a destination place.

Attending a meetup group event at Prime Cut Café and Wine Bar for orange county restaurant week. Ordered the spinach and artichoke dip for an appetizer while we waited for the rest of the guests to arrive. Stayed with the restaurant week menu, starting with a Cesar salad, prime rib for a main served with yorkshire pudding, creamy mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, Horseradish, and au jus. Everything tasted great. Finished up with the chocolate ganache for dessert. Janet was our server and took great care of our party of 10. I'm definitely coming back.

The prime rib cuts

The food was amazing and tasted so good. The staff was friendly and the seating area was very like old style steakhouses. We definitely had a great time!

The prime rib here is excellent! There are 2 sizes 8 and 12 ounces. I got the 8 ounces with garlic mashed potatoes. My niece got the filet minion and shrimp. Then for desert we ordered the carrot cake which amazing. It was so moist with raisins, nuts and the cream cheese frosting was good. It's easy to make reservations on yelp

Ribeye with whipped potatoes
Brooke N.

Started with clam chowder which was good! We also had the deviled eggs with bacon, loved them! My husband and I both had the ribeye, medium, with whipped potatoes. We had a side of chimichurri and roasted garlic. Everything was delish and our steak was cooked perfectly! Davy was our server and he was sweet and attentive. It was kind of slow being a Wed and we had no wait. It's a really pretty place! Nice and spacious with great lighting. You can dress up or down here.

We arrived around 6pm on a Sunday evening and we were bummed that it was packed full inside. We decided to go have a drink upstairs, and then come back down later to see if it was any less busy. There must have been one big group who left because 30 minutes later, it was completely empty inside. There are a few wood tables outside of the entrance and several two seat tables along the outside of the side of the train, but for a first visit we definitely wanted to be inside. When you come inside at BXCR, there are two long green couches along each side that wrap around to the entrance to maximize available space. There are two steamer trunks on each side that serve as tables. We were surprised that all of the tables had a Yahtzee game on them, and we had a blast playing that while we enjoyed our drinks. If you happen to roll a Yahtzee, they give you a candle as a prize. There is good background music playing that fits the environment. There is some good décor with overhead baggage racks and international clocks on one wall, and gauges on the wall next to the bar. There are some small rectangular windows along the top of both sides, and some curtained windows on the right side which do let a little light in. When the main entrance door is opened before its dark outside, it does let quite a bit of light in and kills the ambience temporarily. I would recommend coming closer to or after sunset to not let any outside sunlight interfere with your experience. The drinks are made at the bar in the rear where there are several seats and a little standing room. It wasn't on the current menu, but I saw on a previous menu they had an Amaretto Sour so I started with that, and it did not disappoint. It was nice and frothy from an egg white and had Angostura bitters on top. My girlfriend started with the Calm Cruise which was great. It's basically a Pina Colada, but with an additional honeydew flavor in the background. For number two, I tried the C-League cocktail. The smokiness of Mezcal has grown on me lately if it is not the primary flavor, and in this drink it is at a nice level somewhere in the middle. The cucumber and cilantro are definitely present, along with a little heat from the ancho verde and a little sweetness from the Luxardo maraschino. This is a excellent easy-drinking tequila cocktail. Her number two was the Aviation which she enjoyed. Vince was our main bartender along with Sarah. They were very friendly and fun to chit-chat with while they were mixing up our drinks. This is definitely a cool place to check out, and we will definitely return.

To our surprise, we were so thrilled to see Colony Wine Merchant had a good sized menu with various options to choose from: small bites, appetizers, entrees and dessert. We weren't too hungry so we opted for the daily sandwich of the day and their seasonal soup offering. Every bite from both items was enjoyed so much. The soup had the perfect consistency of creaminess followed by savory tomato flavor. It had some delicious (and I think) roasted potatoes, and the side of roasted sourdough with roasted tomatoes was perfection and really brought the dish together beautifully. The daily sandwich of the day was also fantastic! We remember biting into the sandwich and it melting in our mouth. The bread was beautifully crunchy and the meat with all its toppings inside couldn't have been any better. For our drinks, we opted to do a tasting of whites and reds. The wines were selected by our host (if I recall) and remember enjoying them all. It was fun to taste not only different varietals, but wines from different parts of the world. I was especially excited to see they had a really great selection of wine bottles to purchase in their wine shop. I happened to see one of my favorite ones there. We ended up purchasing a sparkling wine bottle at the end of our experience to have with our thanksgiving meal the following day. The service was A+. Every interaction from when we first walked in the door, being seated, being provided food recommendations, was a great experience. The ambiance is perfectly casual with a slight elevatedness to it. You don't have to wear a cocktail dress or tux to come here but it's definitely a perfect date night place or to come with friends and loved ones and enjoy a delicious meal followed by great wine. We were on a time crunch and wish we would have stayed to enjoy an actual entree but look forward to being back in town and visiting Colony Wine Merchant again.
