This restaurant was very disappointing. The rolls were burnt on the bottom. The Caesar salad was mediocre because there was very little dressing, a few tomatoes, a few croutons with the lettuce. The house salad did not taste fresh. The New York strip was tough. The 20 ounce dry aged Kansas City steak was not as flavorful as one would expect. The staff became defensive when informed. No complaints here, ambiance is that of a small Homey grill, yet a byob, good and attentive waitstaff. We made a reservation for a party of 6 on a Sunday night in the summer--there was a nice crowd surrounding our table, mostly locals which is always a good thing. Everyone give this place another try! Its been under new ownership for a bit and the place deserves more love and respect! My husband and I have been going here for our anniversary for the past 3 years! The restaurant is always clean and well kept. Everyone is so friendly and help each other out so no table seems to be without proper service. Bridget was our waitress and went above and beyond! I went here on Friday Nov 3rd, 2023 for my birthday. The service was great, I forget her name but she was really nice. Dessert was great. My complaint is that for a steak house (and not cheap), they could not cook a filet mignon. I asked for medium well, came out rare. I sent it back, it came back rare again but completely burned on the outside. Very disappointed. The chicken and vegetarian option that two of my party had was ok...but come on "it's a STEAK HOUSE"!!!! Will not go back. Exceptional from start to finish! Lori, one of the owners, greeted us with a smile & was very welcoming! She had on the cutest, Xmas themed, festive apron & kicked off our Christmas Weekend from the moment we walked in the door. She also checked in on us throughout our evening. It's apparent she's very committed to her guests having a great time & a memorable night at her establishment. Our server, Steve, was awesome! He provided lots of insight & made great menu suggestions, all of which we enjoyed immensely. We all had Filets (cooked to perfection) with lobster tails - absolutely outstanding! We shared Caesar salads to start, then each of us sampled sides with our meals: twice baked potatoes, lobster mac creamy spinach & asparagus. All were excellent. Terrible ... Food was mediocre, at best. Appetizers were so small and way expensive.. 3 Pierogi's per serving, 15 bucks... 5 dollar Pierogie that came out of a box in shop Rite... And left it on the floor as well.. 20 Minutes later a woman from our party of 14 walking to bathroom slipped and fell on the oil on the floor. Served shrugged it off and smirked... So before posting here, I checked a few other comments on other restaurant review sites and get this... Every negative comment the owner chimes in and claims the review to be " Fake " I fucking dare him to chime in here.. Can't wait to upload all the photos of every credit card receipt and grease on floor and grease stains all over my friends shirt.... And they upcharge your bill from 7 to 10 dollars for using a credit card, and if more than one card pays from your party, each card is charged the " Credit Machine use fee " Steak was way over rated ... For 100 bucks, that steak should taste like steak... But it has zero flavor.. I asked the server for a lime for my drink, server says this is a steak house we don't use limes, 1 minute later there is a lime garnish on the side of a tuna taco appetizer so I ask him why he said steak houses don't carry limes if it's garnished it in my appetizer... He replies " Hey guy, what you want me to tell ya I can't give you everything... " Btw, your about as Italian as your watered down espresso.. Clown.. Gtfoh .. We went to Prime 13 for the 2nd time last night to celebrate our 38th anniversary. Of course I left our bottle of wine home but our waiter let me know of a wine store about a 3 minute walk away. Back with our wine, we ordered the pork belly appetizer and for entree we considered the "tomahawk steak dinner for two" which we thoroughly enjoyed on our first visit. Instead, my wife chose a strip steak and I had the cowboy steak. The pork belly was delicious, one of the best I've had. As for our entrees, both were cooked and seasoned to perfection, a nice medium rare. My wife enjoyed a creamed spinach side, while I had whipped potatoes that were delicious and generously portioned. While the dessert menu looked great, we left no room, as the entree was just that good. A nice conversation with the host/owner on the way out made our night complete. read more

For context: this is the first time I'm leaving a review critiquing a business or restaurant. We went to prime 13 for my boyfriends birthday dinner. Upon arriving the waiter, not host, because there wasn't one (This isn't a critique because I know how hard it is for businesses to find a full staff) tried to sit us at a table directly in front of the door. We asked to be seated at a different table because there was over 20 open tables, and the waiter made it seem like it was virtually impossible. After offering us a seat at the "chefs table" (seats with a view of cleaning supplies), we politely declined and pointed to an empty table and asked if we could be seated there, the waiter reluctantly agreed, and acted like he did us a major favor by accommodating our request. I was a little thrown off by our starter of pretzel sticks with a mustard sauce, considering this is a steakhouse. We moved on to our appetizer, which was scallops over a bed of risotto, which were sparse, but tasty. Next we moved onto our salad (we declined upgrading our house salad into a Caesar salad for six more dollars each) and that was fine as well. For main course, we decided to go all out since we were celebrating, we ordered the steak special topped with a lobster tail, filet mignon and some side dishes. The side dishes were all pretty good although the potato au gratin was served with very thick potato slices. Both of our steaks were seared to almost a char. They had no flavor other than the burnt outside. Although we were extremely disappointed with the meal, we did not complain at all to the wait staff as we know it's not particularly their fault. The reason I'm writing this review is because when we received the check, our waiter stopped at our table and scribbled something on the top of it. Upon further investigation he scribbled the number 52 on the top of the check, which was 20% of our check total. I have been to many dining establishments from fine dining to bars to diners and anything in between, and I have never had an experience like that. To assume that I couldn't figure out what the tip was or it should be 20% and to be so blatant as to write on the top of our check completely rubbed me the wrong way. It's safe to say we will never be going back and I'm leaving this review so other unsuspecting customers know what they're getting themselves into. read more

Really excellent experience for our group of 18. Glen was our server and he managed this tough group flawlessly. Food was great and came out in good timing which I know is near impossible for a group as large as ours. Appreciated the chef coming out at the end to make sure everyone was happy. I am from Las Vegas and was here with my family who come to the jersey shore every year. I wasn't keen on joining them for this dinner because I'm very spoiled with all the vegas restaurants that I'm accustomed to, and I thought how good could this place really be. It was a bit surprising to see the place so packed. The heaters where not warming the outside area too much. The food was a lack luster and when the server finally moved us inside there was a lack of urgency to make sure we received the service expected. Based on the reviews, it seems like this place is inconsistent. We had a very good experience here. We had no problem with using our Groupon. The waiter was very attentive and friendly. He promptly came over to open our wine (BYOB). We had the 40oz ribeye steak for 2, the scallops and the lamb chops. For appetizer, we had calamari. Everything was delicious. The meat was flavorful and tender. The scallops were fresh. For our aides, we had creamed spinach and mushrooms. We liked the mushrooms; the spinach was ok. The host seemed a little disheveled...for the prices being charged here, you'd expect the staff to have a more refined dress code. My family and I have been coming to Prime 13 since it first opened. We've had many birthday and anniversary dinners here. When we have friends come down the shore, it's usually on our "list " of where to go. However tonight was our last night ever going there. When we got there we couldn't believe how close the tables were. The hostesses was not wearing a mask and there was a huge party sitting inside.... which is illegal right now in the state of NJ and they could be shut down for a number of COVID violations at this point. Our server Dave was A+, he was super friendly and attentive. I've been eating steak for 25+ years.... and never in my life haven't been able to eat a steak. I always order my steak rare but can eat it cooked anyway and always enjoy it no matter what... My steak was inedible and looked like Tuna. I ordered it rare and expected blood, pink, red, and a tender piece of meat. The meat has the same consistency as jelly and was the same color as grape jelly. I overheard the man behind us complain about the same thing.... he also said his steak "looked like tuna." It was inedible, when I complained I was told "well she ordered it rare." As if this was somehow my fault. I know what a rare steak is and I know what one should look like and taste like, I don't need to be "mansplained" by management what a rare steak is. Dave was the best part of the night and if I owned a restaurant I'd hire him but Prime 13 has gone so far downhill and their management clearly doesn't care about its customers, their health or the quality of the food. Do yourself a favor and eat at Charlie Brown's or Applebee's because you'll have a better steak and probably nicer management. read more

Place was generally unimpressive as a steak house. Plain bare tables; no tablecloth, one tiny battery-powered glass (in lieu of) candle, no interesting decor. Looked more like a breakfast/lunch place with aspirations. Prices were what you'd expect at a plushier steakhouse, but ok, we were looking for a tasty birthday meal. Food ended up being mediocre. Salads were tiny, optional side dishes also were quite small. Steaks were pretty good, crab cake was mostly fillers, breaded and fried (as opposed to broiled, predominately crab). The best was the huge lobster tail in the $95 surf and turf, but the steak that came with that was undercooked. There's a 3.8% service fee for using a credit card, not indicated on the menu, but it is posted at the entrance. Mediocre at best. We'll pass on a return visit. read more

We had a fabulous experience spoke with the owners and the chef the entire time. The meal was fabulous. We have been here about five times and this is the second time that we have been extremely disappointed in i the the food and service. So never again. Food took FOREVER to come out. My steak was grossly undercooked, sent back, then returned essentially the same. My baked potato was so undercooked that I couldn't eat half of it. The bernaise sauce was cold. My husband's steak was cold. Had to beg for water and ask for things multiple times. At the end of the evening the restaurant was overtaken with smoke. Quite possibly the worst steak I have ever had. Went there Saturday night for dinner. I ordered the Cowboy steak medium well and it came out incinerated, well done. The waitress who was very nice agreed and took it back. Literally 30 seconds later, the food runner brought the same steak out, now completely cut through the middle. She said, while pulling one side of the steak apart with her fingers, this is too well done"? I said yes, it is, and now that your fingers are all over my meat, I definitely do not want it. A few minutes later, the waitress brings me out another steak, which is medium well. There was so much fat on it and it was so tough, I couldn't even it. Also, they charge almost $8.00 for a baked potato, which quite honestly in nuked, not baked. That too, was hard. This is an establishment I will never eat at again. Service was good but could have been better, we aren't sticklers but it seemed this particular nite was tough for the waitresses and waiters. Seemed like a few patrons weren't happy with the service. Our food was brought to the wrong table, the girl who brought the food also bring someone else's food to our table so not sure if she was new and didn't know the set up or stressed. Our waitress Alexa, seemed to be handing the evening as well as she could and gave us decent service under the circumstances ( seemed they were short staffed). We ordered the Tomahawk and the whipped potatoes, the salad that came with entree was delish due to the peppercorn vinaigrette.
