Oh man I wanted to love this place so bad. But it's gonna be a hard no in the future. We had the bao bun w chorizo. And while the bao was cooked perfectly there was no sauce in the bun. Just sausage and chopped cilantro. I had the ropa vieja which was nothing special. It was like a brisket fajita. I had the white rice with it and it was waterlogged. The beans were ehh. Needs a thicker base like tomato sauce. My wife had the birria platter which was yellow rice beans and chunks of beef chuck with a consomé on the side. For desert we did the churro with ice cream. They over cooked it so it was rock hard. But the ice cream was good. I will say the waitress was super attentive, the owner was so friendly and the place was clean. $100 for two people. Overall this spot had some wows and other food was ok. (I am Puerto Rican who grew up in Queens.) First, that green magic sauce was wow and a little spicy kick. The chaufa mixta too. Great flavors. I tried the rice beans and Peruvian shrimp dish. I felt that needed a little more flavor and salt but maybe that is just how they are cooked. The shrimp had too much green parsley for my taste. Normally we do not pair rice and peas with a side of kidney beans. So Peruvian green rice or white garlic rice could have been a cool alternative instead. Would return and try something else. I had the PICANHA (Tender juicy steak slices cooked on a Brazilian rodizio served with Yuca fries, a small salad, & chimichurri). More than I could eat and excellent! The food was/is amazing. The first time my husband and I went in and we were there for our anniversary and the owner came out and greeted us and it was a great experience. We said we would keep this on our short list of places to go for big celebrations/ anniversaries etc. .. And then we DoorDashed it and we had so many problems with the DoorDasher themselves, but the owner and the restaurant handled it so gracefully and threw in an entrée which they didn't need to do because it wasn't their fault and all of the food that we did receive was delicious beyond expectation! Finally got a chance to stop in. Peruvian shrimp was good, the rice was not Peruvian style but traditional rice and beans and the bean soup although not thick had a great flavor, hence the fusion in the restaurants description. Enjoyed the dish and l and would order again. The Pacanha was cooked to the correct temp but lacked seasoning (which I prefer as you can always add salt) the chimichurri was vibrant and fresh. Fantastic place, a hidden gem with Latin fusion that was perfect. We were a party of 8 and everyone loved their food. The appetizers were great, particularly the birria eggrolls. What a unique idea! This is a family owned and operated business. They came from Jackson Heights down to Point Pleasant. The family is Mexican and their love for cooking shows in the flavors. Going against my better judgement here by rating Point Grill five stars after only one visit but our dishes were so good I'm going to do it anyway. This newbie restaurant just opened this past October and they are off and running with some of the best Latin dishes we have ever tasted around the Jersey Shore and beyond. We started with a simple chicken empanada dish and it was excellent being so tasty and the corn shells were crispy and delicious. Our main course was steak picanha, tender slices grilled on a Brazilian rodizio with rice and salad as well as a whole red snapper stuffed with onions, herbs, cherry tomatoes and peppers. Both dishes were out of bounds - simply delicious. No room left for desert after dinner so we took a piece of their buttermilk pie home to sample later and it was scrumptious. Look this is not fine dining for sure but who cares as their food is going to carry them to success I believe. Their ambiance is rather mundane and that's okay. The owner Eric is hands on and goes out of his way to insure your satisfaction and comfort. We will be going back here again real soon. Highly recommend - do give them a try! read more

Not only is the food seriously no joke, but the owner is a super real dude from Jackson Heights. The decor of the resturaunt reflects the roots of the food their creating. Which, may I add, was truly a religious experience. That pernil sandwich is UNREAL!! I would come back 5 times a week just for that sandwich. If you get a chance to talk to the owner I recommend it! I have been meaning to go to Heights 167 for ages. Did take out years ago and never ordered again. Food was good, but they closed due to a fire or something. Made reservations and was happy we did as it wasn't very crowded when we arrived, but it filled up quickly. Its a small place. Food was delicious! Empanadas were nicely seasoned and crunchy. Bao buns and quesabirra were yummy as well. Our main dishes were large, enough to share. The Chauta Mixta was quite delicious as were our ropa viega and birria chicken. Meats were cooked tender and flavorful. We were 5 and 3 appi and 3 main dishes took care of us all, with some leftovers coming home. Owner on site, seemed personable enough There were some issues, for me anyway. We were seated, orders taken, water served. Our waitress approached and asked how everything was. Fine, were were just drinking our water and chatting. NO food yet! Two appi were brought to the table, after a few minutes again -how is everything? After about 10 minutes the 3rd appi came. The same thing happened with our main dishes. One came, after 10/15 minutes the next dish, and the last 10/15 later. I wish things would have come out together as opposed to in stages as for my family we like to enjoy our meal as a group. I didn't blame our waitress as it is a kitchen issue. I also did not like being asked repeatedly if everything was ok? Once maybe twice but it was too many times. If there had been an issue we would have spoken up. There is attentive and too attentive. The decor was casual, pleasant. If there was any music playing I could not hear it as there was a lot of chatter, but not so loud that we could not hear each other at our table. It's a small but bustling restaurant. The food is fantastic. I ordered the ropa viejia and my husband ordered the Birria platter. We ate it so fast because we couldn't get enough. We also had the papa rellenas for an appetizer and they were the best papa rellenas I ever had. Chef came to the table. All the people that work there are warm and friendly and the service was great. I highly suggest that you take a night off from the overpriced tourist traps and visit this off-the-beaten-path local gem. We came the day after 4th of July (on a Tuesday evening) and were the only ones in the place. It's BYOB so we brought cans of beer, and there's no fee. The food was fresh, delicious and flavorful. For 4 people we ordered 2 appetizers and 3 entrees and it was plenty of food. We had the Peruvian shrimp, shredded chicken and a steak dish for entrees, and Cuban sliders and shrimp in plantain cups for appetizers. It was all great, and the quality was consistent with everything we ordered so you really can't go wrong! They have Paella on the menu but only on certain days- if you want it on an off day, just call ahead and they'll make it for you! Such a great find, go before it gets too busy! read more

My second time ordering takeout from here. It was pretty new the first time coming and the owner talked with my boyfriend and I about their story and food. I had the Heights Birria Platter which was amazing and has a great portion size. (My boyfriend and I split this and an appetizer def filling). When I opened the foiled wrapped tortillas OOH, the smell was amazing. They give you a side of cosume which is drinkable. The meat has a pleasant cinnamon undertone and paired with the sauce was perfect. I would prefer more onions and cilantro in the consume or on the side. Rice and beans were perfect together and packed with flavor. I also ordered the Birria Egg Rolls, pretty good. One doesn't go there for ambiance at this small aging strip mall storefront location. Doesn't matter when you bring the wine and great service brings out an ice bucket, ice, glasses, and bottle opener. The food is down right tasty. Fresh high quality Peruvian shrimp is marinated and cooked to perfection with served with Ahi sauce and memorable rice and beans side. For kicks we ordered a Yucca fries side. Highly recommended. Their paella for 2 (which we shared amongst 4) is one of the best my group has ever had, and we have been lucky to have greats ones before. Their unique chorizo bao bun was also one of our favorites. Especially with their magic green sauce that I would buy on its own! We also shared a steak for a main which was cooked to perfection and delicious!
