Prima Nail has always been my go to nail spa ever since they opened their business in 2007. The atmosphere in this nail spa is very comfortable and inviting as well as the staff. Annie, the owner is very kind and professional, and friendly all in one. She also has a great sense of humor! She and her staff all do great work and they are pro's at what they do. I usually have Annie do my manicure and pedicure. As I said, all of the girls are good. What I love about Prima Nails: *Very clean!!! You walk in and it looks so clean. I didn't see dust anywhere! I could tell the owner takes pride in her salon *Nice, cozy, relaxing atmosphere with good decor *good massage chairs *small thoughtful things: water, helping you get your keys out, arm rests during the manicure *very friendly staff, very personable, don't make you feel awkward The only issues I had were more of a preference thing. The manicure is a dry manicure so they don't put your hands in a bowl of water. I don't think it really makes a difference but I prefer soaking my nails. I also wish the tips on my french nails were a little thicker, my nails grow out quickly and you could see my nail underneath within a week (next time I'll make sure to express my preference). Lastly, the dead skin on my feet came back within a week, I'd prefer if they could do more work on getting rid of the dead skin. My daughter and I went in for a manicure and pedicure at Prima Nails. We both had appointments, which are required, otherwise they turn you away immediately. My daughter had a no chip mani and was looking at polish and noticed they offered dip powder. As she picked one out, Ashley, screams out, while working on her own customer, "we don't have time for a dip!". We both felt very rushed and really should have walked out. Susan, my nail tech rushes me to sit down for my pedicure. I have a cast on my left arm and could not get the chair arm down or my purse off the floor and was offered no assistance. This was by far the worst, most stressful pedicure I have ever experienced! She didn't soak my feet to soften the calluses and snipped my skin, kept slapping my legs to move my feet in and out of the water. Please stay away from this nail salon, there are many other choices in the Carol Stream area. read more

The environment is soothing, relaxing, posh, clean and inviting. (Only downside, no pedicure chairs with massage.) Nails techs were friendly and kind. I had an overall ok experience at this salon. At another salon I got my first no chip gel mani decided i liked it so much I wanted another. The place i went to wasn't open yet, so I found Prima nails on yelp. I asked for a french tip, no chip manicure with a more opaque base. As i walked in I was greeted by 3 ladies. They were friendly and helpful. I only had an hour and Annie, my nail tech, delivered a fast and friendly service. A couple of down points though. After the first opaque coat i noticed a splotchiness to the color. I asked her if it would go away and she assured me it would with another coat. It sort of did but not %100. So there bit of a "done at home" look to my nails. The price was $30 plus $5 more for french tip. I think that was fair. That was cheaper than the last place i had gone to. However the other drawback was that somehow, the shelac leaked over the tips of my nail and dried on my fingertips... I felt a stickiness under my nails as I walked out but i assumed it was the lotion she put on my hands. As i walked to my car i stuck my hand in my pocket to look for my keys . I pulled my hand out and the tips of my fingers were covered in lint. Lol... I went in to let them know i got nail polish on my finger tips. She tried to clean it up with polish remover. But no chip nail polish is no joke, and difficult to remove. This wasnt an issue at the last salon i had gone to for no chip. The hours, prices, friendliness, and cleanliness was good. I'll probably go back and keep it simple next time with just 1 color. read more

When I flinched because she pinched my toe with the cuticle cutter, she shot daggers at me and then got up in a huff and asked the tech next to her to switch customers. Then, with the new gal, I asked her not to use the "cheese grater" implement. Just use the other softer heel buffer, she said "whatever" in a snide way. I got up and left right then. With wet feet. I went to Prima Nail when it first opened so my experience is many months old. I figured I'd try PN since it was in the neighborhood, I had a coupon and needed a manicure badly! Overall, my manicure was ok. However what wasn't ok was the shoulder massage I was treated too. The individual who was giving the shoulder rub started pounding on my arms and it hurt. It especially hurt cause I had a bruise on one of my arms. My next problem happened when one of the women (I'm assuming the owner of the salon) started staring at my face and then told me the brow wax I had just gotten at the salon across the street. She then picked up a tweezers and started plucking them. In the process she told me how I needed to come to them the next time so they would get shaped properly. Needless to say, I haven't been back since. All in all I think I'll stick with my "usual" place for manicures and never go back to Prima Nails. read more

Today was my first day trying Prima nails. They informed me that they'd been in Carol Stream for 11 years. I can't for the life of me figure out why I've not been here before! The salon was exceptionally clean and quiet on an early Saturday morning. Duya, my nail technician, gave me a firm and much-needed calf and forearm massage. That alone was worth the trip to the salon! (PS... the massages are part of the standard service... not an upgrade!) Overall, I would say the experience was just ok. I wouldn't avoid going back but I'm also not dying to go back either. For reference: I got a classic manicure and pedicure midday. The pros: - Everyone working there was super nice and welcoming. - All of the customers appeared to be regulars so that's a good sign. - They were able to fit me in last minute. - They provide a mini bottle of cold water. - The salon itself is cute enough- the decor is quaint and it was fairly clean. - Polish selection isn't huge but it is big enough to have a solid selection. The cons: - I wouldn't say that the manicure/pedicure themselves were amazing. Upon leaving, I noticed my cuticles were not fully trimmed and the manicure polish did not start at the base of my nail beds. As for the pedicure, the water that my feet were soaking in was warm-ish (I know I could have said something but I'm a people pleaser and they didn't ask if it was ok). - And my biggest beef is that only about half of the tools they were using were sanitized and/or single use. Also they do not line their soaking tubs with plastic (I know I know bad for the environment... but fungus ain't cute). So there's my two cents. It's a nice local spot but it certainly isn't the best around. read more

Between the very odd massage that is given to you without asking if you want it, and the fact that they don't use towels to help dry your feet off after they've been placed into the soaking tub for your pedicure, this place is just strange. I definitely expected a better pedicure experience, especially for $30. Pedicure here averages between four and six dollars more than local salons, and I suppose I understand this based on their location. However, I thought it was odd that I had to ask for the debris or dry skin located underneath the nail bed of my toes to be cleaned out. Since moving I've tried nail salons closer to home, but always find myself comparing them to the quality of Prima Nails. It has been a long time since I've been here and the owner Annie stills remembers my name and my family. I did notice that there were some changes since being here last time! They have repainted the walls and it looks like they have more staff since my last visit. Today I got a pedicure from Jessi who was absolutely fantastic and nearly made me fall asleep because it was so relaxing! I also got a manicure from Annie who always does an amazing job which keeps me coming back! The nail polish selection is great and the ambiance clean, fresh, and relaxing. This is the best place in 3 counties to get a mani pedi. They are all so friendly and hospitable. Every client gets a water and a massage as your nails dry. The service is great manicures last a week at least! Then they ALWAYS walk you out to your car and put your seatbelt on for you!! All the technicians are great.
