Accommodating staff but the massage was not particularly enjoyable or therapeutic. She was nice, a little awkwardly chatty, and was TMI during the session. None of my kinks were worked out and her technique made me wonder if she was licensed. It felt like she was winging it. Kinks still there and not even a little more relaxed. The location was a little difficult to find, and I guess I am not a fan of homes converted to commercial buildings, however nicely decorated. John gave me the most healing massage I've ever had and we communicated really well throughout. I am working through an injury in my right leg and he worked on pressure points that made me feel relief like I hadn't in months. I can't believe I had forgotten to Yelp this place! Even though I'm from the city, this is my "go to" place for massage. First, it is a very down to earth, quiet and tranquil location. It is located in a free standing building in a quiet, somewhat wooded area of Roselle. Second, it's not a flashy salon with "beautician masseuse" trying to give a massage. These are well trained, experienced professionals who are looking out for your well being. I feel they have always helped to relieve tension in my sore parts! The salon is decorated beautifully -a little dark, with a powder blue and brown earthy theme. The rooms are large, private and have nice amenities like super soft sheets and blankets. I've always had a great experience here. You really feel special since it's never crowded -you get the one on one attention that you deserve when treating yourself to a pampering! read more

In coming to the Chicago area, I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to find a massage therapist that was knowledgeable. Thankfully, of oh my crossfit trainers told me about Bobby. Bobby used to work for the Detroit Lions, and I figured if it's good enough for an NFL player, it's good enough for me. I was right. Bobby discovered my right hamstring (the entire muscle fiber) was contracted. This impressed me because my previous massage therapist, who I thought was good, missed it. Bobby worked on my hammy until it released, and because of his focus on treatment over time taken my massage went over by like an hour. I have experienced some amazing massages in my life but the massages at Northwest Massage Therapy (particularly by the owner Bobby) leave me limp as a noodle (and that's a good thing)! What I particularly like about Northwest Massage is the slower pace of things. Sometimes it seems they go over the time limit because they are making sure all points are focused on; not the 50 minute in and out like many salons. On one hand, I like the converted house and the front desk lady is very nice (not the perky, trying-to-up-sell type); on the other hand, I didn't think my masseuse had the "touch" a couple minutes into the 1-hour session even though she was very nice and courteous. Overall I was mostly pressed and rubbed but not really massaged. I bought the yelp deal $39 for $75: I would say the massage I received was worth $39 but not worth the regular price of $75. Be aware that the most popular therapist there doesn't accept the Yelp deal (it says so on their website). I went back to see how Bobby was and I'm glad I did. He asked me what type of massage I wanted and it wasn't just, "swedish or deep tissue?" He asked me if I wanted a purposeful (some word like that) or a relaxing massage. When I asked the difference, he said do I want to relax or do I want him to work out the kinks? Since I sit at a computer all day and have horrible posture, I wanted to work out the kinks. Usually, when I get a deep tissue, they do the standard moves and work on a couple of knots... but Bobby took the time to really see where I was tense and worked on those areas. I left feeling very loose and relaxed. I was sore for a couple of days but the good kind of sore. I think I will definitely be back to see Bobby. read more

I have been going to Northwest Massage Therapy for YEARS. Not once have I left feeling dissatisfied. The employees there are ultra professional and each time I have gone I have experience great benefits from the massage. (Relieved from stress, migraines, pain, etc). I am extremely particular with who I will go to since I have had the typical massages where you wonder if they ever went to school, or the overcharging practices some people have when they charge you for the time you are getting ready for the massage. None of that will happen here. Bobby is nothing short of amazing at what he does. His skills go far beyond any massage therapist I have ever experienced. Each time I have come with issues, I have walked away not only in relief, but educated on what I can/should do in order for it not to come back. I decided last minute that I was going to treat myself to a massage and went online and through yelp, I found Northwest massage. They were open for another hour but when I called nobody picked up. The answering machine said I can make an appointment online, so I did. It was very easy and I also got a confirmation email so I knew I had my appointment set. I arrived 15 min early and parking was no problem. I walked in and it was a very relaxing atmosphere. I was the first appointment so I walked in but nobody was at the desk. Just a few min later, the receptionist came and greeted me- very sweet lady. My massage was with John and I had a great experience. He seemed a tiny bit nervous at first but after 5 min, he warmed up and got into a flow. He had a great touch- gentle yet firm and what I liked the most was his strokes were nice and slow- very sedating. I could also tell he knew his anatomy very well. As relaxing as my massage was, he was able to hit the specific muscle areas I told him about while still keeping me relaxed. I was extremely satisfied with Johns massage. I used the Yelp deal and it was well worth it. It's a perfect example to advertise and get a customer back in. I will most definitely make another appointment with John in the future. read more

I had read these few positive reviews and thought, heck, there are no negative reviews, so may as well try this place out. I have had massage therapy done everywhere in the Chicagoland area, from spas to individuals in their own homes and everything in between, and I work in the medical field, so I have a keen eye for the professional massage therapist that is skilled, personable, and gentle. I decided to take a chance on Lisa D, as she had favorable reviews on the home website (also the best time schedule for me). My 94 year old Dad was having trouble with picking up his fork (numbness in both hands) and was having trouble walking due to back issues. Made an appointment to see the doctor, but was hoping to get him something to tide him over until the visit. I honestly expected just a little relief for him, not expecting anything significant in just one 1hr session. I can't say how grateful I am for Lisa, her professional manner, the gentle way she approached my father (he had never had a full body massage before), explained to him what was going to happen (but didn't over explain), checked him frequently for comfort and just how he was feeling with what she was doing during the massage. This review is too long already, but all I can say is that for the first time in almost two years, my Dad walked ME to the car instead of the other way around! He was able to curl his fingers up in his hands, and I saw him walking up the stairs without his cane! He is getting ready for bed now, but he just asked me when I was going to set up the next appointment for him. Take advantage of the yelp offer but you'll be happy to pay full price for future visits; Lisa is worth twice what is being charged (and she actually went overtime just to finish up properly on his shoulders, no extra charge). Have seen Lee a couple times and she is very knowledgable I had pain and headaches following a car accident that my Chiro wasn't able to resolve completely. She was a great help. I'm way overdue for a massage.... To those that weren't happy or bruised, you have a mouth use it! When I was in I was told upfront if "I use too much pressure or you feel uncomfortable let me know." Now I've only seen Lee (cant comment on the other therapists) but she's great IMO. I recommend this place and will be returning soon myself. read more

I was given a gift card as a gift and called to schedule an appointment. I specifically mentioned I was a new customer and this was my first time coming to their office. Unfortunately I got caught up at work and time slipped away and I never made a courtesy call to cancel. However, I never received a courtesy call a day prior like most companies do as a reminder for my upcoming appointment. About 15 min after my scheduled time, my therapist called to ask if i was coming in and I apologized and offered to reschedule for a later date. At the time she had the perfect opportunity to advise that my $85 gift card was going to be confiscated and unusable. I understand taking maybe $25 of it to pay the therapist but not the full $85!!! A day later the manager Nancy calls me to inform me of This and was extremely rude!! She refused to Be sincere about the ordeal and had the audacity to point fingers to a possible new client and say it was rude that I never called!! Things happen and 1 missed appointment isn't worth $85!!! Nancy continued to argue with me on this and became even harder to talk to after I asked for her name as I was not pleased with the customer service she was failing to provide and wanted her name for my records. They can keep that $85 as they don't deserve a $1 of my money! Their gift cards are the cheapest things I've seen and doesn't have any disclaimers on there on how it works. When I made the valid point to Nancy about not being instructed before or after my appointment about how their gift cards work, she admitted the therapist didn't know that's why nothing was said. So since when was it a customers fault that a company doesn't properly train or educate their staff! read more

I was throughly pleased with my experience. Had a gnarly hamstring injury and decided to receive a sports massage on the area to help with recovery. First time recipient so I had no idea what to expect. I met with Sarah and she was intent on hearing about the problem and what my goals for the session were. She discussed her plan of action and set about getting me comfortable for the appointment. Over the course of the hour, she took care of the affected area, gave me recovery tips, and was very social and friendly. I was throughly relaxed during the session and could feel results instantly. NMT is set up very tranquilly and that lends itself to the experience. They have an online appointment service which is great as you can see available times, therapist descriptions, and manage your appointments. Although I went for injury related reasons, I'm sure that if you're in need of just some quality soothe time, you'll be just fine. read more

I was referred to Northwest Massage Therapy by a friend a few years ago (when I lived in Hoffman Estates) and it has become my go-to massage place, I would even come back to NMT when I lived in the city and now Villa Park. I always go to Jennifer and she is an amazing masseuse. She always makes sure I am comfortable and that the pressure is just what I want. My first massage was a 60-minute full body massage. However, an hour was not enough time to fully workout all the kinks and knots in my shoulder blades and lower back as well as all the soreness the rest of my body was experiencing from my very physical job and getting back into the gym. So now I get a 90-minute full body massage and it's amazing, worth every penny. I leave feeling relaxed, refreshed, and good as new every time I go. Jennifer also leaves me with a few stretches/exercises and tips that might help keep me loose. Everyone I have spoken to has always been very nice and helpful, whether it be the receptionist or other masseuses I have encountered. Immediately when you walk in, there is a calm ambiance - just like it should be! They have a nice aroma of lavender, candles burning, and soft relaxing music. They have comfy couches and a water cooler while you wait. Nancy greeted me - she is super sweet. I filled out a short questionnaire and was on my way. Robin was wonderful - she was very nice and accommodating. She made sure that I was comfortable the entire time. I got a full body massage (1 hour). I could tell she really focused on my problem areas I had mentioned to her and gave it her all! The bed was nice a warm (had a heater), the music was relaxing, and the dim lighting from the candles and lamp was wonderful. The experience was everything I could hope it would be! Donna was incredible - she had an almost preternatural knack at finding the horrible spots on my back and was very attentive to the information I provided her before she began. Very calming environment (the converted house gives everything an extra cozy feeling - and the soft classical music was a VERY refreshing change to the usual New Age pan flute music one expects to hear). It was a nice, long session - at no point did I feel rushed or anything less than a priority. I brought my fiancée with for the couples massage and she was equally pleased with her masseuse, John. We both spent the car ride home raving about the experience. I highly recommend Northwest, and while I can't speak for the other employees as I only experienced Donna (and John, by my fiancée's word), we met another therapist in the lobby while paying and he seemed equally friendly and attentive.
