I hired Pretty Clean Construction to do my roof, the boiler and hot water heater chimney, and my wood-burning fireplace. Overall, I'm very happy with their work and the way everything turned out. The roof looks great, and the level of detail they put into it shows they really take pride in their craftsmanship. The chimney work for the boiler and water heater was done extremely well -- clean, neat, and up to code. There were some minor corrections I requested during the process, but they were very responsive and professional in addressing them. I really appreciated that they listened to my concerns and made sure I was comfortable with the final results. The only area I think could have been slightly better was the wood-burning fireplace chimney -- it works fine, but I felt it could have been finished with a bit more precision. That said, what really impressed me was the way Kenneth handled everything. He followed up several times after the job was done, made sure I was completely satisfied, and even came back personally to review some of my concerns. Kenneth is very polite, honest, and clearly cares about his customers. It's rare these days to find contractors who not only do good work but also genuinely stand behind it. You can tell they work hard and want you to be happy with the end result. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for reliable, honest, and hardworking people who take pride in what they do What really stood out to me was Kenneth's follow-up and professionalism. He checked in several times to make sure everything was good and even came back personally to go over some of my concerns. He's polite, honest, and truly cares about his customers. Terrible company. Pretty Clean Construction quoted me $3300 for a sidewalk repair job back in summer of 2017. By July 2017, I had paid them a total of $1850 in advance for the job for a deposit and insurance. On at least 10 separate occasions, they made an appointment with me to do the job but never showed up. Every time I called, their receptionist would say they would ask the owner, or they would ask the supervisor, and then continue to make false appointments that were never fulfilled. After many attempts to have them come complete the work, I asked for a refund and they did not comply. In August of 2019, I had a court date with Pretty Clean at the Superior Court of Passiac County, during which the court ruled in my favor. Regardless of the verdict, Pretty Clean didn't pay me a penny. Pretty Clean also has a habit of giving their customers low quotes, then adding more and more expenses to the total price as you continue working with them as can also be seen in other reviews. BAIT AND SWITCH! This joke of a company came to my house to give an estimate. They sold me on a job then demanded half the money upfront in cash. Before their workers even touched my porch they told me the job promised to me was NOT EVEN CAPABLE to be done by mankind. This is when the owner said well I'm only making $300 off you so this is more of a headache than it's worth so you just want your money back and I said yes being it to me and they said someone would bring it the following day. I told them no and went down to the office and within the 20 mins it took to get there the coward scared boss ran out of there I guess along with his check book. Ontop of it their "office girl" screamed at me and thought he poop didn't stink. Cursed at me and everything. They told me someone would be in contact sometime between 8 and 8pm so at 9pm I called and the "manager" answered. He swore he would call between 10 and 12pm so of course here I am dialing again at 12:08 on Saturday morn. This has been going on for days. His response is the accounting dept is away. It's been away for 3 days now? You kidding me. UNPROFESSIONAL as it gets. Run around after run around and they got exactly what they want which was my money without doing any work. Oh and the sales guy Frankie? Yea he tried playing let's make a deal. Tried giving me a sealant for $2500 then knocked it down to $1500 within seconds I mean what did he care he wasn't planning on doing the work anyways. Screw them all and screw their company. They should have their license taken away ASAP the manager that's trying to talk down to me about it after all this. I was told my money would be returned the next day then it wasn't then I was told id be called today before 12 and no call so I called them and I was told I'm harassing them. I contracted this company to repair my front steps and retaining wall. The job went from repair at $2400 to replace at $16,000. When they came out for an estimate, the rep started chiseling away with a hammer and chisel and said, "it's deteriorating back there, you need a complete rebuild." I reluctantly contracted them for the rebuild. The workers left my hose on for days, causing water to saturate the wall in my basement (I have video of this). They dug 3 feet down for the footing of the stairs and didn't put a tarp on it. When it rained, the hole filled with water (have pics). They left my driveway impassable for days at a time when I told them I just had a baby (he was a few weeks old at the time) and we needed use of the driveway for the stroller since we couldn't use stairs (they were demolished). When I complained about this I was always told they would bring the truck to remove the rubble, only to be told that truck "broke down" so I would have to wait a coup;e more days. The worst part is the finished product though. You can see the joint lines between the cinder blocks, it always has this wet look, looks like its going to start cracking already, and there's efflorescence everywhere. After going back and forth with the owner he sent some guys out to drill holes in the retaining wall. Clearly there should have been some drainage system included in the build and the top coat was too thin. The contract says I have a 10 year warranty but the owner told me, "you have dirt next to the wall" (referring to my lawn), "that's how its going to look with this stuff" (referring to the use of concrete instead of brick)." Does that mean they used a product they knew was not appropriate for the job? I've gotten a couple estimates to fix the issues and each mason that came out was astounded that no drainage system was included and no waterproofing was used. I've been trying to resolve this issue with them in good faith since March (it's December now). I'm now going to seek legal recourse. I would stay away if I were you. Buyer beware! What a scam. Called for the $50 chimney cleaning. I was told this was a starting price and expected it to be slightly higher. Tech pretended like he never heated about their $50 starting price and I was given a $150 quote instead. Three times the original price. The place is a joke. Avoid at all cost. read more

There were a few issues with getting job started but once they were settled they did a great job.

Not worthy of any stars! No respect to people who gave them respect. They were desperate to take large deposits before starting any work, and promised they weren't like other contractors in that they get work done. In this case they didn't even start work, yet took thousands in deposits, cashed them immediately, and made up sorry excuses why they couldn't come. The company is fully aware of children living in the house and professionals who have little time for idiots. This so called company is devoid of human decency, and deliberately avoid answering phone calls. They still haven't refunded the money three weeks after they were supposed to start work. Thieves!
