Concrete is not my thing. My experience working with it is minimal to none. I was VERY anxious…read moreabout rebuilding my home's driveway. Over the years it had become somewhat of a lake when it rained. Time for a makeover. I planned to do all the work myself with the help of a few friends. When it came time to pour the concrete I went round and round about how to do it. Doing the math I found it was MORE expensive (almost double) to buy the bags and rent a mixer, than it was to have ready-mix trucked to the job-site. So I called around. Corliss was the first one that could deliver the next day ...........a Friday. I didn't manage to get a morning delivery time but they could do it in the afternoon around 3pm. I thought next day delivery was pretty good considering eveyone else I had called put me back to Monday. I believe Corliss even has weekend delivery.....but I could be wrong about that since I called so many companies. The truck showed up right on time.......MAYBE 5 mins late but traffic really sucks in my area of Tacoma from around 2-5pm on weekdays.....Fridays maybe the worst. The driver was very proffessional, started out kinda gruff, but warmed up and actually helped make this pour successfull without any problems. Did I mention concrete is not my thing? Well its not.....and there is a lot more to it than just dropping some mud on the ground. I have no experience and 3 yds of concrete is a big pile of mud. The driver actually became the temporary forman and got in and got his hands dirty helping trawl the mud around. I was impressed. He just got in there and got dirty. He also new EXACTLY when there was enough concrete in the form so we didn't over/under fill it. All in all I was extremely happy. Price was comparable. Service was GREAT!! (Driver's name was Joe by the way) The whole transaction I had with Corliss was good. I have another load about half as big I will be needing in the next week or so and you can bet I will be calling Corliss.

AA Asphalting - untitled

I was very impressed with AA Asphalting. I had multiple companies come out for a bid on a driveway…read moreapron (the easement in front of the property and part of the driveway). The guy who came out was prompt, courteous, and got me a quote via email in a day. Most of these guys can't even be bothered to show up on time, much less be nice about it (like they are doing you the favor!). The bid was slightly higher than other quotes, but they were very clear as to the scope of the job and I have seen their trucks repeatedly in our Shoreline neighborhood and took that as a good sign. I signed the contract and they emailed me a day they scheduled to come out and asked if it was good for me, which it was (a Friday). The Saturday before the scheduled work, the job foreman (Aaron) came out and inspected the site thoroughly so there would be no surprises on the project. He was friendly and took serious all of my requests and concerns. Friday, they showed up promptly at 8:00 and worked non-stop on the job until it was completed around 4:00. They had a huge crew with many different machines and you can tell they really cared about getting the job done well and completely. All of the guys looked professional and were courteous when I asked them a question, or needed to get out of the driveway. All of their equipment is clean and looks like they invest a lot in it. The foreman was present pretty much the whole time. I had one issue with the asphalt: There were a few spots where the rocks were a little more exposed and there were gaps where the rocks may come loose. I saw a spot near the driveway and pointed it out to the foreman. I asked why this was and he said that the density of the asphalt load varies from their provider. ***The important part is that even though this was a trivial issue, they spent the time necessary to fix the couple of spots without complaint and were very nice about it.*** Whoever runs this company knows what's important to their customers!

Then the No Parking signs reappeared. They did their work just fine and right away this time, but then left the No Parking signs up for another several days long after the job was finished. It's probably some lackadaisical supervisor's fault.
