Press start is a nice lowkey spot to conclude or start a night they are connected to cluckers if you are looking for a snack while you game unfortunately they were closed when I came. The drinks are good I tried a signature cocktail the Magic carpet was good not a huge fan of grapefruit asked for more Ginger beer and it was nice and smooth. The bar tender seemed slightly irritated but she still made good drinks! I would definitely come back and play more games and grab a few drinks! read more

I love this local joint! We celebrated a birthday duo here, adult style! Who doesn't love a classic arcade game and a full service bar?! We had loads of fun playing childhood arcade classics! (If you know you know.) Pinball machines are a must here! I highly recommend visiting if you ever loved arcades as a child. Our kids these days are spoiled with Playstations and other gaming consoles, but I wouldn't trade my arcade experiences for anything. Button Bash 2022 at PRESS START. A special Yelp Elite Event benefitting underserved youth in our community. Yelp Elite and their guests were asked to bring gifts and we ALL brought gifts...A fabulous mountain of gifts for kids ages 3-16. We were welcomed my Michael T, Yelp Elite Coordinator and John from Press Start. Emily and I dressed up in our best Christmas attire! And So did everyone! I saw onesies and ugly Christmas sweaters...it was wonderful! A fantastic night of really great pin ball machines, basket ball, driving games, Wii games and a nice pool table. We received 2 tickets for a really great Chicken Sandwich from Cluckers next door and a complimentary drink of Apple flavored cinnamon whiskey from Verdi local distillery in a cool Yelp glass! Great drink! So festive! Press Start is a fantastic upscale gaming place to meet with friends, play games and have a drink. People were screaming, laughing and having so much fun! It was electric!!!! I didn't think I could love Press Start any more than I already did, but the new location is just so much better than the original and here' are three reasons why: 1) It feels so open and inviting! The big front door and windows let in great light during the day and you can really enjoy the murals all over the walls. 2) Family friendly! That's right. The bar and arcade are separate, which means during the day it's open to all ages. They do have 21+ hours at night, so it can be for adults only too! 3) Great selection of games! From old school classics like Tapper, Galaga and Frogger to modern games like Walking Dead, and a whole slew of pinball machines and Nintendo Switch and Wii set up in table tops, they have it all! I'm so happy this business survived COVID. The new location at 600 S. Center Street is wonderful. The arcade is full of old and new styles of Pin Ball games, as well as classic video arcade games such as The Simpsons, Donkey Kong, Tapper, Mario Bros, TMNT and more! They do not serve food, however there are plenty of options such as bbq and chicken sandwiches next door. I appreciated that the bar was separate from the arcade and there is ample seating in both the bar and general arcade area. The bartenders were super friendly and well versed in cocktails- they even had seasonal specials for the holiday! If you're looking for a nice change of scenery, a fun spot to meet up with friends, a casual spot to grab a drink or a place to challenge that competitive coworker at a game of air hockey- this is the perfect spot! Great Arcade! Yes it's small, but the bar area is away from the arcade itself, so it wasn't that bad. Even has an exclusive hack of Donkey Kong here called Donkey Kong: Pauline Edition. And this is also officially the first place where I've beaten VS Super Mario Bros on a real arcade cabinet, twice. Once last week & once yesterday. Come to this place if you haven't already. Old school arcade games and plenty of pinball machines make this a fun little time warp of a place! They had a bar but has gone to the wayside in this time of Covid. It's now open to all ages and only costs $10 per person. Once your in, all games are on free play so you can play as many games as you want. My two 16y.o.'s had a good time playing air hockey, various pinball, and other fun classics! So did I :) Lots of hand sanitizer available to clean your hands up after any game play too. They had just got a new Stranger Things pinball game but someone hogged it the whole time we were there, hahah, that was the only bummer. Press start is a great idea, just kind of a bummer how you have to pay to play - you would assume you would just press start and go for it lol My first time here and honestly it's ok. They don't have a very good beer selection and the drinks are hella watered down. I had a better time at freeplay not just because the games were free but because the vibe was better, the service was great and the drinks were tasty I was a little bummed that they didn't carry anything local as far as craft breweries Parking was kind of an issue but after driving around once or twice I was able to park semi close - it was street parking I think my beer (hazy lil thing) cost 11 bucks which was expensive considering it was just 16oz and then I spent 15 on arcade games Pinballs are 50cents Arcade games are about 25-50cents and the really cool Ones are a dollar I had a good time - was there for about an hour or so Enjoy yelpers read more

The vibe was off the charts from the moment I walked in. I found some people dressed as Gandalf / Sméagol & the hobbits Definitely made my night & makes me feel comfortable about whatever kind of attire I feel like wearing out to that barcade. I ended up going out a little early on a weekend & it was comfortably busy (already) around 7:30, progressively picking up throughout the night. Bartenders were friendly, service was great. So here I sit with carpel tunnel! It's funny, my brain remembers how to play these games, but my body doesn't. Street fighter two and Mortal Kombat were my favorites in the old game arcade. I was in search for asteroids, space invaders, joust and Missile Command also. playing at home on Xbox 360 , play station and all that, it was refreshing to come back and play the old original version of the game arcade with the toggles and buttons instead of the hand controllers. I had completely forgotten how the electronic games can really get cheesy sometimes. Took a while to remember how to be cheesy back, but I did double the high score so... I feel very accomplished spending thousands of dollars worth of quarters in my youth. A nice change up, was to be able to have alcohol. I asked for a top shelf margarita, and it was $12. But the manager did throw in five free tokens! It was nice of him. Took me all five tokens to get to the bosses of Street fighter II. Then their game's electronic Programming took over and basically killed me before I could even react. Searching my brain trying to remember how to kill them, it's just not there. I have cramps in my once seasoned wrists and once nimble fingers. There was a time when my wrists were golden, my fingers nimble...I even went all the way to Korea for championships. Now... I am as archaic as the games are... Really fun and nostalgic. I will come back. The most awesome part is I can drown my defeat with some excellent, if pricey alcohol. What more could you ask for? Stop The Humanoid!!! Stop the Intruder!!! I never really thought of myself as a gamer nerd. I hung at 7-Eleven's, dropping quarters, drinking big gulps. Fisherman's wharf in Monterey, Pismo and Santa Monica pier. Skating in pools/malls in between hustling arcade quarters. I remember a huge riot between rival gangs on Hollywood Boulevard while my friend and I sat and played Joust and Tempest lol. So yeah, pretty much any game arcade Mecca. And if you recognize what I wrote above, you were probably gamer too! Finally, I was greeted by the bartender and manager as I walked in. They were very friendly. The only thing I would change is to have some stools spread around for people to sit on as a play the games. Barstools without backs. Just they few for the people who need them LOL. Awesome gem I found the other weekend, in fact, so good I came again the next day. Although I was born after the pinball machine era, these machines are well kept, and super entertaining! I love how there are drink tables and cup holders everywhere so you don't lose your beer. The bar is awesome, the two guys working are friendly and it seems like there are a ton of regulars here. The cocktails are cleverly named (I tried the midtown mule, loved it) AND each cocktail comes with $2 worth of game tokens. Lastly, the crowd is a mix of college students, middle aged, and even some older folks. Despite the generational gap, I witnessed older people teaching younger people how a certain game is played. My only complaint is that I wish I found this place sooner. read more

Fantastic place to play pinball. Games are kept in very good operating order and the hours of operation are quite good as well. Pricing is impossibly inexpensive. For something very subjective -- I am holding back on a fifth star because most of the pinballs have the polyurethane / silicone flipper rubber and it absolutely changes the action of the game for dead stops, drop catches, and english (spin) on the ball. I understand it makes shopping the games easier but games are designed and shipped with rubber. Great place, very fun, I always look forward to dropping coins here! read more

The totally adult arcade. This bar / arcade in Midtown has plenty of pinball to go around, almost half of the venue is rows of pinball machines. The rest is occupied by an air hockey, a pool table and plenty of old school PacMan and other great 80's games. Most games take quarters and there's a change machine just left of the bar. Bar ? Yes. The bar carries some local breweries and distillers. So grab a cocktail and go be your best pinball wizard, shoot a few zombies or chase some ghosts with Ms Pac-Man. On the weekends it can get a little crowded. But wander around, you will be able to find an open game to play There are a few designated parking spots right in front of the venue. During the early 2019 Midtown construction there are 20 head in spots across the street. read more

This place has everything you'd want in a barcade! We came here on a Thursday night and it wasn't crowded at all. There are 2 areas, one is the arcade area and through the double doors is the lounge/bar area. There's also a restaurant called Cluckers which is attached to the venue but it wasn't open while we were there. You need quarters to play the games and there's a change machine available. The arcade includes many pinball machines, a lot of old school games, and some newer games. Pinball games are 50 cents each, old school games are 25 cents each, and there's a couple $1 games. The lounge area has couches, a pool table, and a bar. The drink we got was good and it's not too expensive. They also have free games to play! There's a table trivia game in the lounge and a Wii and Switch in the arcade area. There were two of us at the barcade, we spent 2.5 hours there, and we used less than $15 for game play! Sorry I don't have any pictures, but I love the new place! It's so much bigger and has so much more! Having food readily available is definitely a plus as well, and it's so nice to be able to take kids in until seven. It took us a minute to figure out where we should order food, because the window says DoorDash pick up, but somebody had to tell us that we needed to order food there. We went outside to try to go in through the outer door, but it was locked. We just needed fries for our grandson, who needed a quick snack before we went to dinner after we left Press Start. Not a complaint, just info that people should know if they haven't been there yet and wanted to order food. I can't believe how amazing it is now! We'll definitely be back! This is a cool place to hangout and play some old and new school video games along with some pinball machines. No kids allowed at the time we visited but I've heard it may have changed. I attended the Yelp holiday part here on Tuesday evening. They had it open for the Yelp party. Most of the pinball machines were working perfectly. They had air hockey and one pool table in the back. The staff was very accommodating and the bartender Jeremy made a epic cosmopolitan! And I'm very picky. There was a nice VIP seating area with couches to have intimate convos. Awesome date night idea! My husband and I are in our mid-30s and always find it hard to find a fun date night where we won't feel like the old couple. This is the place! We ordered drinks and played old school arcade games. It's cheap too. We spent less than $20 (not including drinks) for about an hour of game time. It wasn't crowded and was very enjoyable. Only negative is that they only have street parking, and they had some homeless people living out of their cars right out front. But that can be said about most businesses downtown. I took 3 of my kids here yesterday to check out the games. My kids love going to arcades and until now we had only been to arcades at the local casinos. I did appreciate not having to go through a smokey casino to get into the arcade! There was definitely more of an adult feel with the bar (I was glad it was separate from the main arcade room) and all the "retro" arcades - would be fun on a date night or out with a group of friends. Having said that, it was still family-friendly and I had fun with kids. There is a chicken sandwich place attached that I was hoping to try, but it wasn't open - had very limited hours. The place was clean and there was fun music playing. I liked using quarters instead of tokens/cards - was easier to tell how much the games cost to play, which was mostly 25 cents except for a few 50 cent or 1 dollar games. The Yelp Button Bash event was simply wonderful. Hubby and I had so much fun playing all the various pin ball machines. Truly a blast from the past. To make it even more fun... we enjoyed libations such as Fireball Whisky. I'll be doing that again! Had beer on tap and it was also wonderful. The atmosphere was electric, high energy and comfortable as well. Highly recommend this venue for an event if you want to treat your staff to a ton of fun.
