I will frequent here for a great specialty coffee in the neighborhood! Recently did a couple of TooGood2Go orders to try some of the pastries as well, I really enjoyed the oreo cookie! There also was a delicious green marshmallow cookie that we really enjoyed. Staff are kind and always making a suggestion when asked, which i love. They are generous with the too good to go orders! I love sitting in this shop, looking at the art. Thank you!
Prep Coffee in Matawan was such a cute little find. I got the iced Rainbow Cookie latte, and my boyfriend went for the iced Bananas Foster. They were perfectly sweet and had that creamy flavor that made me pause after the first sip. I ordered the Jersey burrito and hash browns, and he had the blueberry ricotta toast. That toast honestly surprised me. The ricotta was so smooth, and the blueberries were super fresh with just the right touch of honey. I may or may not have stolen more than one bite. Before heading out, we of course had to try their pastries. We got chocolate chip cookies, which had the texture of bread rather than a cookie but it was still good and vanilla cupcakes with mable bacon frosting, it didn't sound like it was gonna work flavor wise but it was really good. The space is cozy and has a clean, local charm to it. Although, it could get really loud in there, quick. The service felt super genuine, like they actually cared. We just sat there, enjoying our food, our drinks, and the slow Saturday energy. It's one of those spots I'll remember and want to come back to, not just for the coffee but for the whole feeling.
Prep Coffee is AMAZING!!!!! This is legit such a gem. While their coffee drinks are super fun and tasty, their food is legit top notch. I highly recommend the burrata avocado toast and the egg and cheese sandwich. I love coming here on the weekends and it is such a nice change of pace from the usual bagel. You can tell their menu and dishes are expertly crafted for great flavor. The vibes are also great, the staff are the nicest and take so much pride in their drinks and food. The pastries are always freshly made, rotating different options, and they are super tempting. I usually end up with a scone! Overall I am so happy I found this place and it has become a regular spot. I can't recommend them highly enough!
No trick but lots of treats! If you want great lattes or any coffee or tea beverages, this is one of Central Jersey's coffee/tea cafes to come to. For some Halloween delights, they offered some Spooky Spider Cupcakes and their very trending, "Boo-Latte." The Boo-Latte with espresso, milk, vanilla, marshmallow, and cold foam was delicious and perfect for the ghostly season. I rewarded myself here after some holiday shopping and enjoyed delicious treats and interacted with friendly baristas. Speaking of rewards, if you give them your name and phone number to sign up, you can earn one point for every two dollars and receive a five dollar discount for every 50 points you redeem. This is a well-lit environment with free wifi. There are four comfortable, fairly long tables for people to bring their laptops and get things done. I will be returning regularly to this cafe. Growing up around the coffee business, I have become a coffee connoisseur. A local place, Prep has an urban city vibe that is very attractive. It is a great spot to work while enjoying a beverage and brunch. The menu is diverse and offers custom drinks similar to big box stores, only better styled and tasting! During the holidays I had the Boo Latte and their Pumpkin Spice. Amazing blends with subtle flavors, I marveled at their how much care they put into each drink. They have free WiFi and are open work hours only, which allows one to utilize the space in case you are tired of your home space. But my most favorite perk was their dog friendliness. I brought my puppy as we're out for a coffee walk. They welcomed him and made him a custom puppichino. While I wouldn't keep a dog with me all day, it was refreshing to see the business be so open to people with animals. I highly recommend this new coffee shop!
Great cafe. Food was good. The French ham & cheese is great but very greasy. The chocolate chip scone was super dry and bland. Maybe it was a bad batch but me and my husband tried to split it and we still couldn't finish it. The hibiscus iced tea was good but overpriced. Cookies and cream latte was good but bland. I wouldn't do that again. Very cute layout. Service was okay but it was a bunch of young girls that were more interested in talking to themselves than helping customers. Food and drinks took a long long time.

The beverage, finely crafted by Kris the barista, was smooth with a nice strong matcha flavor that was creamy and light. Perfect! Pastry's baked goods and full-on small meals are made in house. Spacious large tables and free wi-fi are available for work, study or media consumption. Sign up for their rewards program. Prep is on my list coffee favorites.
absolutely love this place! I always get the chai but recently tried the cinnamon honey latte and and orange drink they had and they were both delicious! The food is always tasty too! Friendly staff and a few large tables to study, work, or hang out. The Cali burrito is a favorite of mine - it's always so good! Overnight oats were great too - not too sweet and they weren't soggy.
I love coffee and love finding new spots that aren't your typical Dunkin or Starbucks. There is plenty of parking in the back, it's attached to other businesses and under what looks like apartments. Seems the back entrance is the main one. They serve drinks, have food and pastries and are dog friendly. I got an iced pumpkin spiced latte, it was very yummy. Not too overpowered by pumpkin flavor and really enjoyable to sip on. There were several other people in here doing work. Looks like a cool place to relax and have a coffee. I'd come back for sure if I was in the area.

Found this coffee shop while driving by. Decided to check it out with a friend after having dim sum nearby. It's located in a condo complex. There have all the classic coffees like Espresso, Cortado, Americano, Cappuccino, Flat White, Latte and Mocha. Now this is where I got excited...their Specialty Lattes. Here is a sample of some of them. - Blueberry Latte - Cherry Mocha - Cinnamon Bun - Coconut Macaroon - Lemon Sugar Cookie - Mango Matcha - Protein Latte - Peanut Butter - Rainbow Cookie - Zesty Orange Even though it was hard to choose I decided on the Cherry Mocha because cherries is one of my top #3 favorite fruits to eat. I told my friend to get the Rainbow Cookie Latte, he happily obliged so I could take a pic for Yelp. Lol. Lots of yummy pastries on display as well. I got a blueberry scone to take home. The cherry flavor came through deliciously. I took a sip of my friend's Rainbow Cookie Latte. Not sure what I was supposed to taste but at least the espresso came through. I tend to favor fruit flavored lattes so this was totally my jam. Will definitely visit again. Very young staff working here. They were a delight and very helpful. read more

Honestly the food was amazing and the coffee as well. I got the rainbow cookie latte and it was strong enough but still sweet. I also got the ham and cheese croissant. Will be going back and it was $17 for both which is reasonable!! read more

Be careful, there is an "admin fee" of 3% added to your check. Tax evasion? Staff is friendly and coffee is good. Ambiance is simple but sufficient for a quick stop. read more

I came in for a quick bite and latte The kitchen was closed at 3pm but they did have baked goods I got an iced pistachio latte and it was just what I wanted. My wife, son (9) and I searched for a "better than Starbucks", casual coffee place that also served good breakfast. We came across this listing and thought it was a good place to stop before going to the South Shore outlet mall. We were starving, as it was already noon, and ordered breakfast and drinks. My wife had an iced cappuccino and I had an iced Americano. The American looked weak and watery but it tasted delicious -- not bitter in the least. My wife complimented the cappuccino for its good flavor and again, not bitter or burnt-tasting like The Leading Brand. To eat, my little son who always eats burrata ordered the burrata toast sans avocado and balsamic drizzle. My wife ordered the BLT toast which was like a whole breakfast situation. I did not want something salty (as breakfast food can often be) so I ordered the ricotta toast. While my wife and son absolutely loved their food, I thought mine was excellent. It came on two big slices of fresh artisan-style bread with ricotta spread inside and on top, honey throughout, and blueberries on top and around the large serving. It was BIG for a breakfast item and very filling. The staff there appear to be close or a family or part thereof. They are polite and were cheerful and helpful even with my son's questions and initial indecision. We would definitely go back there when we are shopping those outlets and visiting family who live south of there. read more

When I went to the gym next door, this would be my treat after a workout on the weekend. Inside it is so welcoming and community like. There's enough seating and it's inviting. My favorite was the PB latte and the avocado toast with smoked salmon and eggs. I miss going there but will soon find an excuse to pass by. read more

Came here for a a learn to latte class that we found on instagram! The owners Sebastian and Val were very knowledgable in the roasting process. They took us step by step with caffeine extraction and how to make the perfect prep latte. We got to go behind the bar and try our hands at being a barista. I made a pumpkin latte and my husband a Carmel latte. The coffee was one of the smoothest tasting i have had in a long time, it was delicious. So glad we found this local spot and cant wait to try the food on our next visit! read more

What a wonderful coffee shop! I stayed a lot longer than originally planned, and I was so comfortable I didn't want to leave. I visited the Matawan location this morning to have a latte and something to eat. I read in past reviews that the zesty orange latte was good, so I ordered that. Orange is my favorite color and flavor with everything. That flavor latte did not disappoint. I am always drinking coffee, so having a latte was a nice change to my usual. I also wanted to try their breakfast. I ordered the jersey burrito. Wow! That was so perfectly put together. It had eggs, cheese, potatoes, onions/peppers, bacon, and the best part big chunks of pork roll. The burrito was clearly made to order and was very hot. At first glance, I thought bacon and pork roll would be too much, but I was wrong. Both meats complemented each other very well in the burrito. That was a very filling meal and so tasty. I highly recommend trying it. The chairs and table are comfortable to sit at and get work done. My internet on my cell is sometimes slow and I appreciated having access to the free wifi. read more

Super clean, modern coffee shop in Matawan on 516. I was very happily surprised to find a cafe in the area as if you were to look for one even just in the last few years, you would have had a difficult time. Food and coffee beverages are amazing and are served very quickly. This is a place I will come to over and over again when I am in the area! read more
Prep Coffee is my all-time favorite coffee place. They make a variety of interesting drinks. Some of my favorite have been the Iced PB&J latte and the Iced Blueberry Matcha Latte. The inside is decorated very cute and all of the baristas are always very friendly. read more
I am a huge fan of cute, study-friendly coffee shops -- Prep Coffee has made my list of amazing ones in NJ! The ambiance is peaceful, casual, and chic with many tables, wall outlets, and WiFi. I spent several hours studying here with my boyfriend while enjoying our cold brew and lattes. Although I haven't tried their food options (yet), I really enjoyed their assorted lattes, especially their matcha latte. Would recommend and will be back! read more

We were up in NJ for the weekend and grabbing a coffee before heading out on the road home. They had a peanut butter latte that sounded interesting, so I went with an iced one. Really good. I was wondering how PB would work with a coffee, and however they made it, it's got a slight sweetness with this backend bit of nutty/peanut butter without it being overwhelming or out of place. I'm actually curious to know how they make it. Other than that, the place has a neat, clean aesthetic. read more

Realized after driving up that they've replaced an Asian bakery I've visited before! But it's a good replacement. We got the peanut butter latte (a small is super small btw), which was a bit too sweet for our taste. The glitter cold brew was a little sour, and the glitter is gimmicky, but still, I liked it haha. We also ordered a salmon avocado toast, which we really liked! The salmon wasn't salty, so the everything bagel seasoning added to it, and there was plenty of it. My only issue with it was that it was difficult to eat because the avocado was between two pieces of bread with the salmon on the outside so it kept slipping when trying to cut it. read more

I was working in the area and stopped here with my colleague. I had the Avocado Burrata Toast! Cheese was very tasty and creamy with a perfect touch of balsamic glaze! EXCELLENT! The ambiance of this place is fantastic as was the food but the espresso left something to be desired. I should have expected that with intelligencia being the coffee they used. Lots of cool latte ideas but I don't like chain coffee. If they switched to something more local to match the food and aesthetics it would be amazing. I orded the breakfast burrito and my mom had the chicken salad sandwich wich were both great but on the pricey side for the size. I had a double shot which is the best way to tell how the coffee is and It was over extracted but it could also be the darker roasted Intelligencia beans. Can't wait to go back and try some other food options. read more

This review is mainly for the pricing...was excited to try the cereal milk latte and went to order ahead until I realized the price was over $7 before tip! I've heard of inflation however $7+ for a coffee?? No thank you. read more

Iced Cereal Milk Latte best one in the area! I've tried all the local spots and here they really shine with there house lattes and quality coffee blends. I will add they have the nicest staff that will answer any questions you might have. read more
