This was my first time at this location (they used to be right in downtown Red Bank!) and it was the same Prep I knew and loved. Everything you want and expect in a cafe coupled with a very friendly team behind the counter. My oat milk latte was hot, strong and delicious and my blueberry scone was so tasty. A perfect pick me up and sweet treat. The space is clean, cozy and so spacious. There are plenty of tables, whether you are on your own or stopping by for lunch with a group. The wifi was strong and it ended up being a great place to get some work done for a bit. Like I said, everything you want in a cafe! I will frequent here for a great specialty coffee in the neighborhood! Recently did a couple of TooGood2Go orders to try some of the pastries as well, I really enjoyed the oreo cookie! Found this coffee shop while driving by. Decided to check it out with a friend after having dim sum nearby. It's located in a condo complex. There have all the classic coffees like Espresso, Cortado, Americano, Cappuccino, Flat White, Latte and Mocha. Now this is where I got excited...their Specialty Lattes. Here is a sample of some of them. - Blueberry Latte - Cherry Mocha - Cinnamon Bun - Coconut Macaroon - Lemon Sugar Cookie - Mango Matcha - Protein Latte - Peanut Butter - Rainbow Cookie - Zesty Orange Even though it was hard to choose I decided on the Cherry Mocha because cherries is one of my top #3 favorite fruits to eat. I told my friend to get the Rainbow Cookie Latte, he happily obliged so I could take a pic for Yelp. Lol. Lots of yummy pastries on display as well. I got a blueberry scone to take home. The cherry flavor came through deliciously. I took a sip of my friend's Rainbow Cookie Latte. Not sure what I was supposed to taste but at least the espresso came through. Prep Coffee in Matawan was such a cute little find. I got the iced Rainbow Cookie latte, and my boyfriend went for the iced Bananas Foster. They were perfectly sweet and had that creamy flavor that made me pause after the first sip. I ordered the Jersey burrito and hash browns, and he had the blueberry ricotta toast. That toast honestly surprised me. The ricotta was so smooth, and the blueberries were super fresh with just the right touch of honey. I may or may not have stolen more than one bite. Before heading out, we of course had to try their pastries. We got chocolate chip cookies, which had the texture of bread rather than a cookie but it was still good and vanilla cupcakes with mable bacon frosting, it didn't sound like it was gonna work flavor wise but it was really good. The space is cozy and has a clean, local charm to it. Although, it could get really loud in there, quick. The service felt super genuine, like they actually cared. We just sat there, enjoying our food, our drinks, and the slow Saturday energy. No trick but lots of treats! If you want great lattes or any coffee or tea beverages, this is one of Central Jersey's coffee/tea cafes to come to. For some Halloween delights, they offered some Spooky Spider Cupcakes and their very trending, "Boo-Latte." The Boo-Latte with espresso, milk, vanilla, marshmallow, and cold foam was delicious and perfect for the ghostly season. I rewarded myself here after some holiday shopping and enjoyed delicious treats and interacted with friendly baristas. Speaking of rewards, if you give them your name and phone number to sign up, you can earn one point for every two dollars and receive a five dollar discount for every 50 points you redeem. This is a well-lit environment with free wifi. There are four comfortable, fairly long tables for people to bring their laptops and get things done. I will be returning regularly to this cafe. It is a great spot to work while enjoying a beverage and brunch. The menu is diverse and offers custom drinks similar to big box stores, only better styled and tasting! During the holidays I had the Boo Latte and their Pumpkin Spice. Amazing blends with subtle flavors, I marveled at their how much care they put into each drink. They have free WiFi and are open work hours only, which allows one to utilize the space in case you are tired of your home space. But my most favorite perk was their dog friendliness. I brought my puppy as we're out for a coffee walk. They welcomed him and made him a custom puppichino. While I wouldn't keep a dog with me all day, it was refreshing to see the business be so open to people with animals. I highly recommend this new coffee shop! read more

I love coffee and love finding new spots that aren't your typical Dunkin or Starbucks. There is plenty of parking in the back, it's attached to other businesses and under what looks like apartments. Seems the back entrance is the main one. They serve drinks, have food and pastries and are dog friendly. I got an iced pumpkin spiced latte, it was very yummy. We came across this listing and thought it was a good place to stop before going to the South Shore outlet mall. We were starving, as it was already noon, and ordered breakfast and drinks. My wife had an iced cappuccino and I had an iced Americano. The American looked weak and watery but it tasted delicious -- not bitter in the least. My wife complimented the cappuccino for its good flavor and again, not bitter or burnt-tasting like The Leading Brand. To eat, my little son who always eats burrata ordered the burrata toast sans avocado and balsamic drizzle. My wife ordered the BLT toast which was like a whole breakfast situation. I did not want something salty (as breakfast food can often be) so I ordered the ricotta toast. While my wife and son absolutely loved their food, I thought mine was excellent. It came on two big slices of fresh artisan-style bread with ricotta spread inside and on top, honey throughout, and blueberries on top and around the large serving. It was BIG for a breakfast item and very filling. The staff there appear to be close or a family or part thereof. They are polite and were cheerful and helpful even with my son's questions and initial indecision. We would definitely go back there when we are shopping those outlets and visiting family who live south of there. read more

I have been to this establishment several times and it depends on who the barista is. I went last Wednesday and the coconut macaroon latte was fantastic. Went again on Friday, ordered a peanut butter latte and it lacked in flavor (it tasted like milk). Gave it another try yesterday, ordered the coconut macaroon latte and a scone and it was horrible. Came here for a a learn to latte class that we found on instagram! The owners Sebastian and Val were very knowledgable in the roasting process. They took us step by step with caffeine extraction and how to make the perfect prep latte. We got to go behind the bar and try our hands at being a barista. What a wonderful coffee shop! I stayed a lot longer than originally planned, and I was so comfortable I didn't want to leave. I visited the Matawan location this morning to have a latte and something to eat. I read in past reviews that the zesty orange latte was good, so I ordered that. Orange is my favorite color and flavor with everything. That flavor latte did not disappoint. I am always drinking coffee, so having a latte was a nice change to my usual. I also wanted to try their breakfast. I ordered the jersey burrito. Wow! That was so perfectly put together. It had eggs, cheese, potatoes, onions/peppers, bacon, and the best part big chunks of pork roll. The burrito was clearly made to order and was very hot. At first glance, I thought bacon and pork roll would be too much, but I was wrong. Both meats complemented each other very well in the burrito. That was a very filling meal and so tasty. I highly recommend trying it. The chairs and table are comfortable to sit at and get work done. My internet on my cell is sometimes slow and I appreciated having access to the free wifi. read more

Realized after driving up that they've replaced an Asian bakery I've visited before! But it's a good replacement. We got the peanut butter latte (a small is super small btw), which was a bit too sweet for our taste. The glitter cold brew was a little sour, and the glitter is gimmicky, but still, I liked it haha. We also ordered a salmon avocado toast, which we really liked! The salmon wasn't salty, so the everything bagel seasoning added to it, and there was plenty of it. My only issue with it was that it was difficult to eat because the avocado was between two pieces of bread with the salmon on the outside so it kept slipping when trying to cut it. read more

Lots of cool latte ideas but I don't like chain coffee. If they switched to something more local to match the food and aesthetics it would be amazing. I had a double shot which is the best way to tell how the coffee is and It was over extracted but it could also be the darker roasted Intelligencia beans. We live very near this establishment and have been anxious to try it. We were very disappointed. I ordered the ricotta toast with mixed berries and my husband ordered a scrambled egg wrap. He said his was fair. It was my food that was really below average. The ricotta toast was not served open faced but instead stacked on top of itself like a sandwich. That made the cheese melt and disappear. The berries weren't mixed just blueberries. The 2 matcha teas we ordered were not filled to the top, about 1/3 of the cup was foam. I don't like sugary drinks, so there is nothing to hide behind when it comes to the quality and flavor of the beans that a coffee shop uses, and my coffee always tastes great! They do offer a wide variety of unique drinks like peanut butter and zesty orange lattes if you're adventurous and like your coffee sweet. 4. Food is really good: The food here is delicious. To me, the menu has a nice variety, and is worth the price you pay. I have gone to plenty of local cafes that overcharge for small flavorless bites and that is not what I get at Prep. 5.
