So when I went to get in my car recently and it was hot inside, my entire car reeked of cigarette smoke. I called because surely they'd know if the one previous owner smoked in it. They said they didn't know anything about it and that the car had been detailed. Which, it obviously hadn't been because the mats have grime on them as well. At best they did a light vacuum in the car. So now I get to drop 300$ on shampooing the whole inside of my car (: They didn't change the air filter in the glove compartment and they couldn't even be bothered to fill the tank for me when I bought it. Within the first week of buying this truck, the check engine light came on. I brought it back 5 times, and instead of fixing it, they just cleared the codes to hide the issues. In less than a year, I have had to bring this truck to their shop TWELVE TIMES. As of today, it is back in the shop AGAIN for the 12th time for ongoing electrical issues, "Service Stabilitrak," and ABS sensor problems that they claimed they already fixed. They also charged me $600 for a right wheel hub that didn't fix anything, ignored a damaged driver-side sensor I pointed out, and couldn't fix a fuel tank issue that prevents me from even filling it up with gas. It even completely shut down on me once, forcing me to pay out-of-pocket for a tow all the way back to Minooka. They kept it for a month, refused to give me a loaner car, and left me completely stranded. To top it off, while it was in their care, they slammed something into my truck and left a massive dent in my rear bumper, making me wait another month for them to fix their own property damage. I finally had to take it to an independent, local mechanic just to get an honest answer on why this vehicle is always broken. The truth is sickening: it is going to cost over $5,000 just to get this truck safely operating. Simotes fully knew this truck was absolute garbage, but they cleared the engine codes, slapped it on their lot, and took advantage of me. When you try to call them to get answers, it gets even worse. The woman in the finance/customer service department completely over-talks you, acts incredibly dismissive, and treats you with pure disrespect. When I finally demanded to speak to a supervisor, he was just as rude and dismissive as she was. This entire experience has been a total nightmare. This truck has spent more time broken down in a shop than it has been on the road. They are a shady, dishonest dealership that will sell you an unsafe vehicle and then treat you like dirt when it falls apart. Buyers beware: stay far away from Simotes!

I had been looking for a specific used vehicle online to purchase in a particular color. I finally…read moregot a notification online that this dealership had it so hubby and I drove over an hour there on 9/20/25 to take a look at it. We had a 2 p.m. confirmed appointment with Ivan. We get there and the staff is friendly. The dealership is big and beautiful. When we told them that we had an appointment with Ivan, Kimberly told us that he's with another customer and that she would take over for him. Huh? We had an appointment with him so why were we passed off to someone else? Didn't like that factor. They had the 2019 red GLE 43 Coupe waiting for us to look at which was nice. I was excited to see. I was very surprised when looking at the car. Although it's a nice car, there was damage to it. The back wheel rim had the Mercedes center medallion missing from it. There was also damage to the drivers inside door panel - there was a large crack on the plastic molding that is very obvious because it's black. I asked her if those would be repaired and she told me no. We took a test drive but the excitement waned because Kimberly was talking way too much and asking personal questions about hubby and I so it was hard to concentrate on the things about the car. I told her I wanted to look at other cars as I knew that wasn't my car and the warranty had expired. She took us back into her office (all glass windows) and I could see that Ivan's office was right next to her. There were many times he was alone but he didn't stop in to introduce himself. Kimberly found out our price range and showed us on their website cars available at the dealership. I saw a few I wanted to look at so she took us over to look at them. There was one car I was really interested in, the 2025 CLA 250. We took a test drive and it rode nice, and I really liked the car. Came back to Kim's office and started talking about financing. Hubby and I decided to take time to think about the decision. When we told Kimberly this, she told me they couldn't guarantee that the car wouldn't be sold without a non-refundable deposit. We understood. I did ask the question about who gets the commission if we were to purchase the car and interesting enough, she told me both her and Ivan would share it which was odd to me. As we were getting ready to leave, she told us that their protocol is to have the manager stop in to talk to the customer. We met Matt and he was again asking us questions about where do we live, etc. and told us they hope we will do business with them. I thought he was going to come in to ask how Kimberly's performance was. It was odd for him to come in to talk with us. Again, as we were about to leave, Ivan popped in to tell us something, I don't remember what it was. I told him that our appointment was with him so I didn't understand why he never came to introduce himself the entire time we were there as we stayed there a couple of hours (till closing time). He apologized. And so we left. Here is where things changed for us. We liked the car but after our visit, for the next week we were hounded between Ivan and Kimberly texting, calling and emailing me several times about the car or offering questions if we had any. That was an instant turn off because we felt like we were being stalked over a car purchase which shouldn't be. To stop the communication, I finally let them know that we would not be purchasing the car. They responded thanking us for letting them know. I thought that would stop the communication. It didn't. Ivan reached out again about looking at other cars. I blocked him at that point. Overall, I would say, if someone makes an appointment with a salesperson, let it be that salesperson to help us through the entire visit. Dealing with two people and getting communication from two people about a vehicle is a bit much and makes it look like desperation. Please stop.

I would strongly caution anyone considering paying Mercedes-Benz of Romeoville for a pre-purchase…read moreinspection. I paid $498 for what I was told would be a two-hour PPI on a 2021 Mercedes-AMG E63 S that I was purchasing remotely. Because I could not inspect the vehicle myself, I specifically chose a Mercedes-Benz dealership and relied on their expertise to tell me the true condition of the car before making a $91,000 purchase. Their inspection identified only two driver-assistance faults. I was sent a brief walk around video and engine video, along with basic tire and brake measurements, and was otherwise given the impression that the vehicle was in excellent condition. After purchasing the car and having it delivered, I was shocked by what had been missed. Nearly every panel on the vehicle appears to have been repainted, and multiple panels visibly do not match in color or finish. The passenger-side rear quarter area shows obvious prior paintwork. The front bumper is severely misaligned, with missing mounting hardware/brackets on the passenger side and is not properly secured. The paint also shows significant fading/sun exposure. These are not hidden mechanical problems that would require extensive diagnostics to discover. The paint mismatch and bodywork are visible simply by walking around the vehicle. I genuinely do not understand how a technician performing a two hour professional PPI could inspect this vehicle and fail to mention any of it. It gets worse. The vehicle's alignment was substantially off, requiring the steering wheel to be held noticeably to the left for the vehicle to drive straight. A proper road test should have caught this immediately. After the vehicle arrived in San Diego, I brought it directly to Mercedes-Benz of San Diego. The vehicle has now been there for over a week having all of the engine mounts replaced, another significant issue that was completely missed during the PPI. I paid Mercedes-Benz of Romeoville specifically to protect myself from this situation. Had they accurately reported the condition of the body, paint, alignment, and mechanical issues, I would have either substantially renegotiated the purchase or walked away from the vehicle altogether. Instead, I relied on their professional assessment and proceeded with a $91,000 purchase that I cannot simply undo. I now have to deal with extensive prior paintwork, mismatched panels, body repairs, alignment issues, mechanical repairs, and the effect all of this has on the vehicle's value and future resale. I understand that no PPI can guarantee a perfect used vehicle or uncover every possible hidden issue. However, missing nearly an entire vehicle's worth of repainting, obvious mismatched paint, a visibly misaligned and improperly secured bumper, a significantly off center alignment, and failed engine mounts is unacceptable for a $498, two hour inspection performed by a Mercedes Benz dealership. I am extremely disappointed. I trusted Mercedes-Benz of Romeoville's inspection to help me make an informed decision on a very expensive purchase, and in my experience, that inspection failed at its most basic purpose. I would not recommend relying on their pre purchase inspection service.
