Had a great experience at Gerald Auto Sales! Everyone was friendly, helpful, and made the whole process easy and stress-free. Mark was the salesman who helped me and he was awesome to work with! He was very knowledgeable, patient, and never made me feel pressured. He answered all my questions and made sure I felt comfortable throughout the entire process. Definitely recommend asking for Mark if you're looking for a great car-buying experience! read more

LISTEN CLOSELY! Do not buy a car from this place. My Car broke down 13 days after I got it.

I bought a used 2010 Chevy Malibu from Herb at Gerald auto and less than a month of having the car it started failing on me on the highway. The brakes and gas became unresponsive and everything in the car slowly started shutting off. I was barely able to make it to the shoulder safely. On my dash popped up a service esc message. I called the dealership crying and they told me to bring it in, the mechanic there looked at it for about five minutes and clearly he only cleared the codes on the car and checked and topped off my oil which he said was the issue later on I came to check my car and seen then didn't even remove the oil stick it. They sent me on my way only for the same thing to happen two days later except now the car didn't move at all. I had the car towed home and told them of the issues and demanded they take the car back. After a lot of hassling they finally agreed to send a tow to pick the car up and sent me a check for my down payment. Buying my first car from them turned out to be a horrible experience and I learned that they were a careless dealership with horribly trained staff members and mechanics. Do NOT buy a car from them. read more

the stigma of car dealerships is not lost on me, I've been through the ringer with car salesmen and have a lot of friends in the industry. I popped in to Geralds with no intention of purchasing a car, just exploring my options at any dealers where I was at after little to no luck with buying from a private seller. my first visit here, I will say, the salesman who assisted me and allowed me to test drive the car never so much as introduced himself. But, I liked the car and it was a good ish fit. On my way out, the owner caught me outside and introduced himself, offered to let me just drive it back to my boyfriends to get his expert opinion and told me he's running a small, reputable business with nothing to hide. That stayed with me. I hit a few more places, but that Subaru and encounter stood out. I reached out via their website with a few questions and Raul was quick to answer my questions and lend a hand. I returned the following day to take it for another drive with my partner in tow. We voiced a few concerns and he was quick to assist. I can't speak for the lenders they use, as I was able to move my funds around and show up with cash to complete the sale, but it was all handled promptly and professionally by Raul. I am very happy with my purchase thus far, he followed up and immediately sent me the carfax that I requested to check recent tire rotations and oil change records. I absolutely recommend Geralds, thus far a way different experience than any other car buying I've ever experienced. read more

DO NOT PURCHASE A VEHICLE FROM THIS PLACE I would give no stars if I could. I drove from Indianapolis to Joliet to purchase a 2015 Buick Regal and was told everything was in great condition. However, half way back to Indianapolis, I noticed the brakes were rubbing. When I reached out to the sales manager, Raul, about the brake issue, he said he would try to reach out to the dealership's owner to see if he would cover the cost to fix them. I never heard anything back from Raul about fixing the brakes. The following week, I noticed oil in my driveway, so I took the car to my mechanic. Turns out, there is a hole in the valve cover gasket that had been covered with RTV sealant, and because of the cover up, the oil pump and one of the cams were damaged. I sent an email to Raul with pictures and my mechanic's write up of the issue and cost to repair - $1900, and his response was to bring the car back to them so their mechanic could look at it. I informed Raul that the car would not make it back to Joliet since it was leaking oil like a sieve, the car was inoperable as the top of the engine had to be taken off to diagnose the issue, and the car was leaking oil to the point where I had to put in 2 quarts of oil a day. Once again, his response of me paying to have it towed back to them was not helpful, nor was it good customer service, as I was already out the money I had to pay to have the issue diagnosed. So basically, Gerald Auto lied about the condition of the car and knowingly sold me a car that is not safe to drive (bad brakes) and is not actually in good working condition since there is a major oil leak from a hole in a valve cover gasket, which in turn ruined the oil pump and one of the cams. Gerald Auto is the typical car dealership full of employees who are nothing more than a bunch of shysters. read more

Good guys and decent deals. I bought a car recently from Gerald and I couldn't be happier. They're in Joliet and I'm closer to Chicago, so it took me over an hour to get to them. I found the car I wanted on Autotrader first and before even driving down to look at it I had extensive conversations with Ray and Fred to work out all the details. Once we agreed on price and everything I drove down for the test drive and drove off with it. They're a small dealership so you aren't going to be amazed by some fancy office, but at least you feel like they are treating you right. read more

A couple of months ago I went to Gerald as a first time car buyer and was told to go to Ray in which I did, I fell in love with this beautiful all black impala and ray helped me though it all and made sure I understood everything, talked me through everything and wala first car was bought, then my mom went and bought a car from them with the help from Ray again and she loved everything about it, recently I was in a car accident leaving my car totaled due to someone else running a red light crashing into me, so after a month or so of saving I went back with all papers saying the car was paid off and Ray Morales and Raul helped me so much to be able to leave with a car I wanted and made it so easy on me and even waiting for all the paper work they made sure me and my father were comfortable and made conversation, I definitely love going in there because these guys are just awesome at what they do and always make sure to help and make sure you leave happy, they try to get to know you a little in the mean time to know how to help you, I highly recommend this dealership same with Ray and Raul to help out because they know exactly what they are doing and how to help. When ever I hear a friend or family mention they are in the market to buy a new car I always recommend Gerald because even I will continue to go back and continue to buy cars from them same with my parents! I mean I left with these two beautiful cars, the black impala being the first one I purchased and the the silver charger being the one I bought just a few days ago. I've never had problems which makes it better. But definitely recommend Gerald to everyone because you will not leave unhappy, they for-sure go above and beyond to help you leave with the car you want and make sure your completely taken care of read more

Absolutely awful. They ran my credit 5 times without me knowing: they told me it would only be once. Then they harassed me trying everything to get me to purchase from them to the point of almost following me out the door. If I could give them 0 stars I would. read more

This place is awesome, I came out to look at a few of the suv's and drove out in a 2007 Escalade that Gerald & Jose helped to get me financed for. I purchased the Escalade for a awesome price ad got a great financing rate with low payments. It has been a year since I made the purchase and with that being said, they also have a great shop and good mechanics. When I took my truck to get some service done to it, I needed a oil change, air filter, air bag light sensor just minor things. It only took a couple hours before they called me and said it was all done and got me a great deal on parts. They where nice enough to wash my truck after the work was done. They are very friendly and I can positively say tjI will be back and do more business with them soon. Thank you Gerald & Jose. read more

Good Luck if you're shopping here for a reliable used car. I purchased a car from this location, and I haven't had my car 3 months, and I'm riddled with an expensive repair that I wouldn't be the least bit shocked to find out they knew would be coming. I've purchased used cars before, but haven't experienced one breaking down on me within a matter of months after I purchase/financed it. Huge mistake! I wouldn't recommend anyone that I know purchase a used vehicle from this dealer. read more

My husband and I have been in the market for a extended cab truck for a while and we are very happy we chose Gerald Auto. The whole experience was easy and did not take all day like we expected. Herb was our salesman and he was very helpful. After the purchase, we needed something very minor taken care of and my husband had left a message for Herb, he called us back right away and took care of our situation. We had to bring the truck in for a quick replacement the next day and the service department was great and friendly. Since my husband had to work, I had to bring my kids with me and the entire team was very friendly during our fast wait in the lobby. We will definitely recommend Gerald to our family and friends. Thank you Gerald, Brian and Angela! read more

WTH???!!!! First of all, I'm still trying to wrap my mind around my experience. From walking around the lot looking at cars to having this "Family Guy Quagmire" character salesman trying his best to sell a car....to the guy making a big deal to point out how the dealership uses BIBLE SCRIPTURES on their advertising board.........like that's supposed to be a holy grail comfort signal to sign my life away....to being offered to look at a crappy car....I wouldn't even buy a car from the Pope, especially if he worked at Gerald's. Soooo yea...I had enough and walked away from the mega church car dealership. I can't count on hand how many times I tried not to laugh at Quagmire's cousin's sales tactics that he tried to use. The devil is a lie! LMAO!!! read more

I've purchased 8 vehicles from Don Bartuch (Sales Manager) over the last 15 years at places he's worked prior to Gerald and 3 from Gerald. Don has been very accommodating and I can't see myself getting a vehicle from anyone else. There has never been any pressure and you won't find a more pleasant person to work with. Since he's been at Gerald, I've been more impressed with his abilities to respond to my needs. All their staff seems friendly and professional too. If they don't have what you're looking for, odds are pretty good he will find it for you, and pretty quick too! The first time I met Don, I was looking for a 2001-3 Hyundai Santa Fe (I just thought it was a nice vehicle for the money), Don didn't have any, so he pointed me in the direction of a fully loaded 2003 Envoy that was in my price range. I was quite pleased he was able to get me into a vehicle like that for the same money. The vehicle had 10,000 more miles than requested, but it was a great find and serviced my needs for over 8 years without a problem. Don knows vehicles and people... I'm a little picky about these things and Don has always found me a vehicle in excellent condition, with numbers that work. I just got a new 2016 Ford Edge! I didn't know that vehicle from a hole in the ground, but I do now and I love it... Super comfortable!!! Thanks Don! See you when I need my next car, truck or van! read more

My husband and I had a wonderful experience here! The process was quick, easy and painless. We all know that buying a car can be such a headache but it wasn't. I was pleasantly surprised. Thanks to staff, mechanics, and our sales man himself Gerald Auto Sales of Joliet made shoping for a vehicle easy. It took me over 4 years to find the right car, wishing I would have came here sooner. With alot of patience from our sales man, all my questions answer from the mechanic him self on my "now" vehical I was looking at ( in which you don't get that at any dealer) I am above and beyond happy with my choice. It felt as if they took me in as family, and would have not put in a better vehical then they would one of their own. Thank you Gerald Auto Sales for helping where other dealer ships couldn't. I am beyond livid with this place and Raul specifically. I explicitly said I just wanted to drive several cars to see what I might like and the only payment questions I had were prefaced with "hypothetically". I NEVER gave written or even verbal permission to have my credit run even once and I now have 6 inquiries on my credit report because of him. And after trying to call one of the credit unions directly to dispute the inquiry, I was told that Gerald said they have a signed credit application from me which is just not true. I didn't sign anything or even fill anything out. Raul should be ashamed of himself for his atrocious behavior today. I will never buy a car from you or refer anyone to you. In fact I will tell people not to shop here. And if I could give less than one star I would. read more
