Making an appointment was as easy as calling the optometry and giving them information on my insurance plan (where they are able to look it up and tell you the benefits). On the day of the appointment, I recommend coming early to fill out the intake form as a new patient and bringing your existing prescribed glasses. Afterwards, I took some quick check-in test before seeing the doctor. Dr. Nguyen did my eye exams and she was wonderful! She was thorough, explained everything in an easy to understand/detailed manner, gave really practical and actionable advice, and answered all the questions I had. The front desk folks, Ben and Raul, were also amazing!! They were super friendly, kind, and helpful throughout my visit. What I most appreciated was that they explained all the benefits of my insurance and shared their recommendations on what frames and lense features to choose given my benefits. In terms of frames, they carry name brands like Gucci, Fendi, Versace, Prada, Tom Ford, etc. Plenty to choose from. Overall, I couldn't have asked for a better optometry experience.

The entire staff is amazing--super professional, the environment is very clean, and they have a beautiful, stylish selection of glasses. Dr. To recommended computer glasses for me, which had never been suggested during the years I went to Stein. I always felt my regular glasses were too strong when working close to my computer, since I sit pretty close to the screen and my nearsighted prescription made things uncomfortable at that distance. The computer glasses have made an incredible difference. I also switched to scleral contact lenses, and they've been a total game changer. My disposable contacts just don't compare--I used to experience some blurriness with them. Dr. To explained why that happens, and the staff walked me through how to properly care for the new lenses, including how to insert and remove them. I can't imagine going back to my old contacts now. The scleral lenses are extremely comfortable, stay in place, and are custom fit to my eyes. I highly recommend Dr. To.

I didn't really catch it in the dimmer store lighting, but once I got home I could see the tint much more clearly against my skin and decided it wasn't for me. Thankfully, JINS has a great 30-day return window, and Edwin made the whole return process incredibly easy. He was friendly, efficient, and made everything feel completely hassle-free. He scanned my receipt, had me insert the original card used for payment, even asked if I wanted to keep the case -- and that was it. So, huge shoutout to Edwin for making the return just as pleasant as the original purchase experience! I'm definitely not done with JINS though. They have great frame selections, especially for low nose bridges. Next time, I'll just be more mindful of which blue-light lens option I choose.

He does a very thorough exam every time and makes sure everything looks good with your eyes. I also appreciate that he's helped me out with extra contact packs when I've been running low. By far the worst experience I've ever had at an optometry office…read more The doctors themselves were just "eh." I felt rushed during my exam. The staff was also not very welcoming or professional. They would stand around talking amongst themselves as if patients weren't even standing in front of them, and only acknowledge you when they were ready. The billing experience was by far the worst part. After my exam, I was left waiting for the biller to come speak with me. When she finally came out, she told me, "You don't have vision insurance. You have a discount rate. If you buy frames from us, your exam is only $25. If you don't, it's $95." I explained to her that I had specifically called the office before making my appointment because I had just gotten new vision insurance and wanted to make sure I found an office that accepted it. I had also printed my insurance card. When I made the appointment, I was told that they accepted my insurance and that my copay would be $25. After looking at my card, she said it looked like EyeMed or VSP but that she couldn't find me in the system. She then asked me to call my HR department or insurance company. So I did. I had an insurance representative on the phone and handed the phone to her. The biller told the representative that I didn't have coverage. The representative then confirmed that I had Spectera coverage. The biller responded, "That's all we need," and then turned around and told me, "There's the problem. You have Spectera and we don't take that." I explained again that I had called in advance specifically to confirm that they accepted my insurance and had been told that they did. I even asked her to spell the name of the insurance company because I had never heard of Spectera before. Her response was, "It's Spectera. I already told you the name. It's not my team's job to know the patient's coverage. It's the patient's job." I reminded her that I had done exactly that--I called ahead of time to verify my coverage, and I was given incorrect information by the office. Throughout this interaction, staff members in the background were smiling and smirking, which made an already uncomfortable situation even worse. The biller then told me, "Fine. You can pay $95, or just walk off clean, but you get no prescription. And good luck finding someone who takes your insurance because no one in the city of Monrovia takes it." That statement was especially frustrating because I later found that Spectera is accepted at LensCrafters and by multiple optometry offices in Duarte, Monrovia, and Arcadia. I completely understand that mistakes happen. What I have a problem with is the lack of accountability and professionalism when the mistake was made by the office after I had specifically called beforehand to verify my coverage. I even asked them to pull the recording of my original call to confirm what I had been told. I work in customer service myself, and I understand that difficult situations can happen. I am also a very patient person and rarely leave negative reviews. In fact, I sat with this, thought about it, and prayed about whether I should even leave this review. I ultimately decided to share my experience because I sincerely hope no one else has to experience what I did. This was, without a doubt, one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. The lack of professionalism, communication, and accountability was extremely disappointing. I would not recommend this office based on my experience.

I told her I just wanted a referral from the doctor and I didn't want an exam as I was already here so why do I have to come back again and do another long drive...... totally ridiculous. I told her I had driven far specifically for the reason of getting a specialist referral, that's all. ..... She was extremely rude and refused to allow me to see the doctor for just a minute to get a referral. They are so busy trying to get every single dollar they can out of you that they don't care about the human side of the equation. Even though I have been a very long customer of theirs spending almost a thousand dollars every time I go there to get glasses that I have decided to take my business elsewhere!
