Premier Eco Builders set up my heat pump in my home, and later set up a dual zone so I could have more control over the temperature in the front versus the back. They are fast and direct to addressing the problem. Recently, the heat pump stopped working - I called and Maddy sent out one of his techs the next day! The tech was great, diagnosing the problem (bad capacitor), acquiring a new part, and installing it all before the sun went down. They planned the system out well and came to adjust things accordingly in the months post install to ensure it was running perfectly. Maddy came in for consultation, instead of only giving a quote and a very brief overview, he thoroughly checked our home environment and planned where to put each indoor unit in each room. Original consultation was March 2024, final payment cashed November 2024, project still uncompleted in July 2025. Original project scope was to replace an inefficient propane furnace with a two heat pump system (one for each floor), energy audit, and encapsulation of our downstairs crawl space. We increased the scope to add new exhaust fans as well as replacing insulation and ducting due to rodent activity mid-project in June 2024. - Heat pump and vapor barrier installation completed in June 2024 - Downstairs ducting and insulation completed November 2024 - Exhaust fans installed January 2025 - HERS testing for downstairs system wasn't completed until March 2025, with the tests showing there was leakage in the ducting. - Sealing the leaking ducting is still INCOMPLETE - County inspection is still INCOMPLETE Pros: - Team was nice - Had solutions for our complicated crawl space - Competitive pricing - Patched up drywall where they had to make cuts - Tried to rodent proof crawlspace to protect new ducts - Upstairs heat pump system has very minimal leakage and is pretty efficient Cons: - Constantly no shows or cancelling day of, often when I had to reach out them to find out where they are. - Very hard to get a hold of and mostly unresponsive to messages/calls - Statement of Work said there would be sanitization and cleanup at different points, but that was often skipped or we had to do it ourselves. - Originally installed the downstairs air handler unit backwards. Once they realized, they came back next day to install it correctly. - Replaced our downstairs ducting, but we discovered one section had a large opening and had to do an interim patch job. Premier came out 3 days later to review it. The final straw -- Premier scheduled the date and time for the inspection with the county in July 2025, 8 months after the installation was complete. 30 mins before the inspector's window of arrival time, Premier texted to say their schedule changed and they couldn't make it, but said I could do the inspection myself. The inspector shows up and asks for all of the permits and documentation, which Premier had; and inspector gets annoyed at me for being unprepared and tells me to reschedule. I called Premier and told them all of the things the inspector expected, which Premier seemed surprised about. It's been over two weeks already since that inspection incident, with no follow up and no attempts to reschedule. We are still waiting for them to fix the leaky ducts they installed too. Sadly the contractor rule of thumb of not paying any final payments until everything is 100% completed holds true here. You must be very firm with timelines and deadlines. It was hard to keep them engaged and on schedule before that final payment, and after final payment they went even more MIA. They are still very nice people when I can get a hold of them so I'm conflicted writing this review; we even recommended them to a friend who had a good experience with Premier. The repeated no shows were unprofessional, but we were very understanding of delays and pushing out timelines. There really shouldn't be a reason why this project hasn't been wrapped up by now. EDIT: Maddy followed up immediately after my original review was posted and took ownership of the situation to resolve. They completed the inspection and leaking ducts within three business days. Overall I would recommend them, but I would suggest staying on top of them if things start falling through the cracks. read more

Here's my experience: In 2020, after purchasing my home, I needed to replace an old A/C unit. I did my research and got multiple quotes from local companies. Premier Eco Builders stood out because they didn't try to upsell me and took the time to walk me through the entire process. Their prices were reasonable, and the service was top-notch. Our old furnace had asbestos, and they handled the removal with the utmost care, ensuring the safety of our home. I was initially impress by Maddy when he came out to give an estimate. One of the few quotes that would do insulation board. Unfortunately getting a hold of him and getting the job done was hard. They told me that the job would be finished on a Friday so I wrote them the final check since I wouldn't be home by the time they would of left. I didn't realize that the project wasn't completed until a week after when I went up to the attic to find a mess and that it wasn't even completed. There was trash, end cuts of insulation board scattered all over the attic, end to end. I had tried to call both Maddy (who is dam near impossible to get a hold of after the fact) and Issac who just referred me back to Maddy. Maddy did get back to me and explained the situation. With a combination of personal matters, and stacked scheduled, they had to schedule his team further out to come out and finish the job. They came back in the beginning of the week, cleaned up the spots that were dirty and finished the job as promised. After his team was done they proceeded to schedule an inspection where they come back take a look at the job their team did and make sure it is up to their standards. I will say with summer here they do get very busy but still wish either the project manager, Maddy or a team member was better at communicating. That would be my only knock. Overall I liked the thoroughness, the options they gave me to insulate and their quote. Update: Issac reached out to me and quickly scheduled a time to address the issues on my prior review. They are usually very good about fixing paint and cleaning up messes but it sounded like due to my husband's busy schedule, they hadn't been able to work something out, which was partially his fault. Issac and his cousin not only came in promptly to fix the walls and ceilings and were extremely professional and communicative, but they also were able to help me with an hvac problem we've been having. Having spent this past year handling a multitude of contractors due to my husband's busy schedule, I really appreciated the positive experience I've had with this company and can recommend their professionalism and work. Prior comments: My husband dealt with them for the initial quote and consult to replace some insulation in our attic which went well. He selected them based on a reasonable price (not the cheapest, but in the middle the pack) and quality materials. The reason for the 2 stars is the mess they left behind and damage done to the interior of the house. After they left, there was some debris in our driveway outside. For a few weeks after, I continue to find debris in random places. To remove the existing insulation, they had to snake some equipment through one of the rooms in the house and there were a couple spots in the hall outside that room and in the room where the walls were scratched and paint had been scraped off. My husband mentioned the damage to the company and all they said was "sorry" and made no effort to help fix things afterward. So if you are ok dealing with additional damage to your house, go with this company. Additionally, we had some hvac people up in the attic for unrelated reasons this year and they pointed out that the insulation was blown onto the hvac unit and the drip pan, which shouldn't have been done. HVAC replacement (i.e. two-stage gas furnace & ductwork) of 30+ years heating system Honest opinion: Multiple bids were obtained for this project, and this crew was selected for hire because they fulfilled the criterias necessary for the task-at-hand at a fair price point with high recommendation. Be prepared for the lack of communication which occurred early-on with planning and executing the work, but it got better for the duration to completion after addressing--make sure to ask a lot of questions and keep a close eye, this will help. They did oversell the promise of later installing the kitchen vent post-remodeling with no stipulations. The materials/infrastructure were prepped, and once the kitchen renovation was done, they could no longer construct it and had to remove the ductwork. However, they did allow us to choose the specific products and materials, and took it one step further by ensuring that our crawlspace vents were properly sealed from the external environment. Me and my girlfriend had the ABSOLUTE WORST experience with Premier Eco Builders. Work with them at your own risk and certainly do not believe anything they say. In January of 2024 they installed a new heat pump system, which had problems pretty much from the outset. The real problems started on December 9, 2024 when the unit went out entirely so that we were without heat. Despite the fact that it was winter, Isaac did not seem to think it was an emergency and didn't come to even assess the situation until December 11. He told us the compressor was broken and it needed to be replaced. He promised a swift resolution. Since we had no heat, they promised to purchase space heaters for us to keep us warm. They never followed through on this and we had to purchase heaters at our own expense. On 12/16 we were told the "part was on order." From 12/17-19 we wrote Isaac and he never responded. On 12/20, we finally heard from Isaac who told us the "part was on order." On 12/24, we were told the part was due to arrive 1/1/25 with an install on either 1/1 or 1/2. On 12/31 we asked for confirmation that the part will arrive and be installed. On 1/1 we were told part was not in and that he would give us a tracking number "tomorrow." On 1/2 and 1/3, we asked for the tracking number. We never received it. On 1/3, Isaac told us he was "dealing with the warranty," "waiting for the distributors", and that "they don't have a tracking number yet." On 1/6, we called the distributors ourselves and they told us the part was not ordered until 12/31 - 25 days after heat loss. That same day Isaac told he ordered the part on 12/10 (a day before he even knew what the problem was). He also said the part was due on 1/9. The part did not arrive until 1/13 just as the supplier told us. Isaac continued to lie to us, ignored our requests for a proof of purchase date (we asked for the proof on 1/8, 1/9, 1/10 and 1/12) and did not even send someone to install the part until 1/14 in the afternoon. They did not finish the install until 1/15. We went a total of 39 days without heat. read more

We started our research on yelp for a Heat Pump Mini-split system. We reached out to several contractors and got consultations from 3 companies with several quotes from each for our single story 3 bedroom home. From the beginning we were very impressed with Maddy. Maddy took the time to take measurements, go over rebates and other questions we had by also level setting expectations on the scope of the work, the time line for everything including work, permits and payments, as well as going over what we could expect. Maddy also took the extra time to physically go into our crawl space and take pictures of our existing duct work which was very old. He showed where there was air leakage and also agreed that a whole house heat pump system with duct work replacement was worth the extra money as we could be breathing in unhealthy air particles from the old duct work. Sure enough, we saw the pipes as they removed the old duct work and the rust had made its way through the pipes. Maddy also noticed that we recently got our crawl space and attic space insulated with another vendor, and while he had no concerns with their work, he did make some suggestions for additional insulation for our home as we have a good number of air vents in our crawl space and by sealing those up, we would have a tighter insulation that would still allow for adequate air flow. He also had his team take care of some additional rodent proofing that we noticed during our walk around at no extra charge since his crew was going to be in our crawl space anyways to replace our duct work. Since we have had our heat pump installed, we have enjoyed cool weather during the hot days during this past October with our Indian Summer. While the rest of the area was in the 90's, our home was a very comfortable 70-72 degrees depending on how low I set the temperature. I was curious how cold the air was when using the cooling feature and to my surprise, the cool air coming from our vents was about 57 degrees. What we also like about our system is how quiet it is. To put it in perspective, when they were first testing the system, I was on a virtual call for my work and didn't even notice. I finally noticed as I started to feel a chill as my desk is near the floor vent and was pleasantly surprised at how quiet our system is. As of late, we have also had the opportunity to test the heating feature of our heat pump system. I like to get up between 3:30-4:00 am to work out and am able to start the heater while I'm at the gym. It is so quiet that it doesn't disturb my family as I get the house prepped for us to start our day. We were so happy with their work, we also decided to also use Premier Eco Builders for a Hybrid Water Heater also known as a Heat Pump Water Heater. We are now looking forward to our up coming utility bills as we are now completely electric. With our solar panels in place, we are better protected from the PG&E price increases that are being levied on our friends and family for their "improvements." At the very least, you should consider a consultation from Premier Eco Builders for your next HVAC, Water Heater or Insulation Job. You will appreciate the professionalism and if you decide to use them as your contractor, you will be happy with the price and the results of their hard work. The price is always relative to each person's finances and unique job, but Maddy was very knowledgeable of the rebates in my area and the tax credits so keep that in mind when considering your next job. read more

We needed AC for our older house.  From getting different quotes, we realized we should probably also replace the really old heater. Matty was thorough and patient during the quote phase, going through the different options of hardware, and why we would need a 3.5 ton instead of 3 ton unit.  Also explaining why a new, separate air return outlet needed to be cut in addition to the existing one. Of all the bizzes we talked to, only Matty took the time to go up into the attic to really check out the air return situation. In the process of giving the quote, they also checked for pest intrusion and gave us some recommendations on getting better attic insulation The quote was good value compared to some others that we got. The final payment was in line with their initial estimate. During the actual project, the team was respectful of keeping the house clean and wearing booties, laying out tarps for work that generated debris in the house They would check back in with me when decisions needed to be made like whether an outlet pipe should go out on one side of the house or the other. They were also resourceful with trying to get the new furnace unit set up in the cramped space where the old one used to sit. Throughout all of this Matty was responsive over text and good about  scheduling arrival times and updating when they woudl be in/out On top of the basic HVAC work, I especially appreciate that the team also went the extra mile when they discovered rat droppings in the crawlspace as they were installing the new ductwork.  They did their best finding and sealing entry areas into the crawlspace and came back to set up rat traps. Our AC system really struggled to cool the house down. Anytime is was hotter than 85, our house would become unbearable - especially upstairs. We interviewed several HVAC contractors and we liked PEB the best. Their Estimator - Armando, was just lightyears ahead of the other HVAC contractors in terms of properly diagnosing the problem and architecting the right solution. He took a scientific approach to understand what the root of the problem is, and then he designed a specific solution just for us. I loved how they were upfront and transparent about what it would take to solve our problem. After we selected them as our HVAC contractor, everything went very smoothly. I had a good experience with this company. Maddy was friendly and responsive. Because it was the low season for them, he was able to schedule attic work for us the same week I called. The crew was here as scheduled and finished the job the same day. They were reasonably-priced, too. Maddy provided good resources to learn about different insulation types. We initially thought we'd go with fiberglass batt insulation, but after reviewing the materials, we went with loose cellulose as recommended. It turned out that the day after the insulation was installed we had hot weather and we were able to feel the difference immediately. The old insulation usually allowed our house to heat up to mid-80 degrees or warmer on a 92+ degree day. The new insulation kept our house below 76 degrees without A/C. read more

Maddy and Premier Eco Builders have done an excellent job replacing my building's heating system. They installed two new heat pump systems and one mini-split. Replacing my old 1930's gravity fed systems. Details: I own a duplex with two old gravity fed heaters that were extremely inefficient. There was no intake to our systems as the units took in air from the garage. I needed two heat pumps as AC was a must due to climate change. I also needed an additional mini-split for the In-Law at the back of the garage. Estimate: Eco Builders had a very competitive estimate and the conversation about where the new systems and where the intakes would go was very helpful. I stipulated where I would like the intakes to go and Maddy was accommodating. Install Pros: The team was able to accommodate the location of the heat pumps, mini-split and the air handlers as these were completely new systems. The units have been working for 6 months now and everything works great. The system appears to be airtight. The air handlers and intakes are working efficiently. They also fixed a mistake from a previous contractor who messed up the ducting. Overall, I am very happy with the new systems. There have been some final touches that needed to be addressed after most of the job was complete. The Eco team came back to my home and were able to make sure everything was taken care of to leave me happy with the job. Cons: The biggest struggle, and this could be because the job was so large, was speed. Things went at a slower pace than I had anticipated. Part of this was that during the summer they had multiple jobs. Also, the heat pumps were scarce due to demand as many homes are migrating to the heat pump system. I highly recommend using Premier HVAC if you ever have any issue with heating or cooling. They are quick, highly knowledgeable, and very professional. We got home from a trip on Saturday night, October 29 and our furnace wasn't working. Hardly anyone who does this type of work is open on Sundays, but I luckily found PEB HVAC and called first thing Sunday morning. Not only did David diagnose the issue right away, but he identified other issues which had been preventing our place from ever feeling warm enough. I thought the place was poorly insulated, but it was the poorly installed furnace. Once David implemented the solution, it was like we got a new furnace. Waited several days for him to confirm the appointment with no luck. Ended up having to contact him the day of the appointment to see if they actually plan on showing up. Project manager showed up and said they can do the project and will get back to me with an estimate. Well, they never bothered to get back to me with that estimate and the project was time sensitive. After a week of waiting on these guys, I ended up going to AirTec in Watsonville who gave me an estimate within 24 hours and started work within a week. Edit: I wish I could lower this to zero stars if I could. Isaac felt the need to argue with me via Yelp messages after leaving this review. Unprofessional. But, hey, at least I finally got the quote 3 weeks later after the project was already finished by another company lol. read more

My home was built in 1948 and even though the heater had been replaced 5 years ago, the master bedroom and bathroom were still cold in the winter. Replaced all the windows and weatherstripping, still cold. Called Premier requesting a quote and they found that the duct work needed help plus there was some asbestos and old rat droppings. Ugh! The abatement was done first, traps were set and Premier will be back in a few weeks to check them. They had difficulty with getting supplies so the work was spread out over 3 days but the end result was worth it. They also replaced some registers, touched up drywall and paint where needed.
